I doubt they're allowed to accept tips, I've known people try to tip supermarket workers for helping people to the car with their shopping and the workers aren't allowed to accept them. I know when I worked at Tesco, you weren't supposed to have money on you if you worked on the till, not sure about other workers

They are allowed. My OH gets tips and he delivers for Sainsbury's. He never expects the tips though, but they usually come from people who have awkward access or if he goes out of his way to help them etc. They are appreciated but not essential obviously. The delivery drivers are allowed to have money on them, as they are often out on their rounds for hours so can carry cash for emergencies. The instore staff arent allowed money on them.

Asda drivers are not allowed to accept tips although it didn't stop us when I delivered for them. I would never expect anyone to tip and was always extremely grateful to anyone who did. I would perhaps get an extra £5 or £10 a week on tips when I was working full time.
We used to organise routes so we had our "regulars" and would build up a rapport with customers. This would often result in a nice wee bonus at xmas time, sometimes making double our wages on tips alone.

Whenever I get a home delivery I give a tip depending on the service I receive.

(for info I haven't worked for asda for over two years now so things may have changed)
  • I have just finished doing my first ever online shop at Tesco and note they have charged me the wrong price for something. They had a special on buy two and get a reduced price but they have just doubled the single price of each one. How should I rectify this? Would I get double the difference back somehow. As I said first time online shop but so not sure what I should do. Any advice appreciated!

You just call them and they will put the refund through your bank which can take up to 5 days.

They dont double the difference though, they just refund whats been overcharged.

Check every week though as I stopped using Tesco online because I was overcharged every week and had to call up to get my refunds.

I am assuming you have had your delivery? If not the correct prices are not adjusted til the day of delivery so you need to check your receipt. Its the same with the bogof, it says the full price of both and is not adjusted til the day of delivery.

  • Thanks so much Sarah - no I haven't had delivery yet - just finished the order and noticed when I had checked out. Will wait for delivery to arrive.

    It's seriously annoying me!

It's really really slow to load so I've had to hide the images so finding things is really hard. And I hate the pale colours. Anyone else having problems??
