Online grocery shopping help and discussion thread [merged]

How do you all go about shopping (online)? We do it every two weeks to keep the delivery costs down and to be fair, Asda are usually spot on with use by dates. Alot of the lunch type things we need always seem to have 1.5-2wks use by dates on them, it's as if Asda know we are shopping for the next two weeks.

Also whenever there has been a problem they have dished out £5/£10 and even £15 vouchers plsu free delivery next time. Once we got a £60 shop for about £30!

Is there a better way around delivery charges, I suppose it would be better doing it every week but that means we'll be paying around 20 quid a month for deliveries instead of 10.

Also how much do you lot spend on an average shop? For two weeks we spend almost dead on £50 every time (shame the vouchers rarely come out these days!) which I'm not sure is good or bad for two people?

We buy fresh meat from a butcher we know on the cheap so that helps. Would be interesting to know what others spent and ways of cuttings costs...

hi, i placed a order with tesco last week ,,i want to order the same items but i cannot find how to see the list of things i bought last week...i don,t want to spend ages searching again.
i clicked on history and found my last order but it just says order for £72 , i cannot click on it or anying to get a list,,.is there anyway to do this..thanks

Go to your orders and then you will see all your orders in a list, go to the order you require and click on view order details. Then click view products ordered they will all come up in a list. Click add to all the items you require.

Either that or its just my local one has been robbed of ALL their stock! whatever page i go on on grocery site comes up with "no products are available, please navigate back to previous page"

Hello,

I haven't shopped with Sainsbury's for well over a year now. Can anybody tell me whether or not they now price match substituted items. I know Asda & now Tesco do, but am not sure whether Sainsbury's have now followed suit.

Do you tip the driver who brings your food shop to your door,i am a first timer and not sure if is expected to tip.Also are there any vouchers for free delivery or money off either ASDA or TESCO,thanks.

We've had 10+ food shop deliveries and have never once tipped them. They never seem funny about not being tipped either so, I would think it's normal not to. I'm not even sure if they would be allowed to accept tips? Don't know but we never have.

I usually give 50p/£1 but I live in a walkway (cant drive down there) so he has to schlep it about 50yds. You're not obliged to tip them I dont think but I just feel guilty if I dont!

I doubt they're allowed to accept tips, I've known people try to tip supermarket workers for helping people to the car with their shopping and the workers aren't allowed to accept them. I know when I worked at Tesco, you weren't supposed to have money on you if you worked on the till, not sure about other workers

They don't accept tips in supermarkets. But an old gent used to tip me at a car park I worked at and he used to do it by shaking my hand and pressing a coin in to it at the same time, so that's what I do with the young lads who help me with my shoppping, with a wink. :rotfl:
I don't tip delivery drivers but sometimes offer them a cup of tea or a can of coke.
