I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but the person who is not getting in free can buy a student ticket. What we do is split the cost of the student ticket between the two of us so it comes out at £2.20 each.

For Scots, if you have a Young Scot Card you can buy a student ticket at the Odeon (haven't tried this at Cineworld) and use your YSC to get another discount making it £4.50 instead of a fiver.
  • Hey,

Can get 10% discount in Matalan but has to be an NUS Extra card. They also got some bedding on bogof (for those moving out) and I think it's 20% off at Peacocks at the moment.

I have tried it in many cinemas and the policy is consistant - you must produce two NUS/student cards to get the orange wednesday tickets at the student price. In other words they will only give you the cheapest tickets for free so if you only have 1 student card then the cheaper student ticket would become the free one anyway!
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
  • Someone please correct me if im wrong but as far as i know the only way to get a valid NUS card is to be in full time higher education, a-levels, a degree, a HND etc so i doubt youll be able to get one.

i work for a FE college that also runs a few full time HE programmes and anyone at our college can have a NUS card as long as they pay the correct fee. so even if they're doing a 2 hour a week evening course they can apply for a NUS card.
  • ok cheers, im the only student out of most of my friends so ill have to stick to splitting the cost of a full price ticket with a friend.

And cheers rasberry swirl, i didnt know that, ill encourage my friend whose doing an evening course to apply

    Hi

I have a student discount card, which I have used in store, but have tried to register online to use. I have followed on screen instructions, but still doesn't work. I ahve contacted technical advice, but they just told me to do exactly what I have been doing. Has anyone else had problems with this card? My card says it will run out on 30th sept 2007. Any advice?!
  • Not sure if this is what you mean Bevann but my HMV student card ran out so I went instore and showed them my uni ID. The blokey gave me a leaflet with a new HMV card in it and then I registered it online again.
