Feeling a bit sensitive as AF is here and I've managed to really make myself sad. Still it is now all done and not cluttering up the corner. Christmas without her is going to be really tough for me. By now she'd have been phoning at least once a week to check what was happening
I did the same when I was sorting out some things in the spare room and discovered a lot of Valentines Cards I had kept from OH.
Today I nearly burst into tears when I bought a poppy - a wave of emotion overcame me and I had to quickly leave. It then triggered of thoughts of my grandfather who fought in WW2. The whole episode was very unusual.
Funny how emotions can appear from nowhere and how strong the memories are they evoke.
Dusty - Just a little suggestion. How about putting some of the bits you are keeping in a lovely box and if you feel like this at Christmas you can get them out and have a look and then put them away when you feel the need and pop the emotions in the box too when you put the lid back on. My bereavement counsellor suggested this to me and after initially dismissing it, after a while I thought it was a very good idea and I put mine together this week with a couple of things in for now. This time of year is a big memory evoker for who is missing and leaves us with different feelings than at other times. Thanks for all your kind words. I'm even more teary now and have had yet another school related row with DS1 - darn hornmones.
Fedup - I have got a box already - this was just bills and the stuff from her estate I was sorting out. It is just death certs and probate etc I was keeping.
Toots - trouble with christmas is Mum and sis will still be coming and they didn't get on with Nan at all so won't be sad about it. She was my allie in my family, the only one I was really close with and could rant about my mother to. I just feel lost some days without her. Knowing there was somebody on my side who agreed with me. She'd come and hide in the kitchen with me after lunch when my mother was driving us mad and I'd swig at the champagne and she'd laugh.
Anyhow need to do the dinner and see if DS1 will pass a box upto the loft for me.
Thanks again guys.
Hex - thank you sweetie. I am planning on going myself tomorrow so OH can get finished out there. I'd still love it if you could pop in on one of your trips though. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Hiya
Hope you're all ok. I've done very little apart from s/s and run around like a mad thing. DS has been in and out of hospital again but we're out at the moment.
Really sorry I've not read the thread but wanted to give a hug to pigpen and dusty.
Also a massive thank you to Boddy. The vouchers are really, really appreciated and arrived yesterday. I've sent off for them now. When he was in hospital yesterday someone gave him the lego toy because there's a whsmith's at the hospital. He was thrilled with it so it's great he'll get some more.
I'm going to go and throw some carp away and tidy up a bit. This house is driving me insane!!!
Hugs to everyone in need xx0 -
