My mum got weird about me buying a buggy/pram/car seat, she says you don't do that till after the baby is born! How she thought we would get home from hospital I don't know :rotfl: Took her a lot to make her see that if we don't get what we can when we can get it cheap, the baby will be sleeping in a shoebox cos we can't just do it in one go!
Ahh I see pigpen. DD1 was 10lb 2 so I could have that on both countsMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Ditto! My mum is the same, I am NOT allowed a pram until bubs is born, and if I do get one before it has to be kept at her house, as her belonging, so that means I cant even pay for it, she has to and I buy it off her when the time comes! Funny thing is she has bought a lovely 2nd hand travel system, that she said I can have it when bubs is born if I want, but for now its her! Shes so supersticious! I am allowed a car seat tho, I did explain that these days you need one to take baby home, especially with me being referred to a hospital that isn't my local!
I'm allowed to buy all other stuff now tho! There was originally a hold on that until bubs was born but I did explain to her wen I come out of hospital with the baby I will prolly be so nackered I will walk into the nearest shop and just buy anything as I wont wana be choosing! This way, I can choose all the bargains!0 -

It is considered bad luck to keep it in your house - you don't put the pram before the baby!! Our pram is at ILs for that reason0 -
I've got three healthy children and always bought/been given buggies and kept them at my house well in advance of the births :rotfl:
Does it count if I whack it in the garage? It's at the end of the garden not built on to the house :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Yes thank you
Had to miss my last MW appt due to slapped cheek (two out of three had it) and I haven't heard anything back about my blood test so Ive just rung the doctors and will ask the nurse when she calls back of she can wrangle me an appointment so I can find out what's going on and check if baby is ok because I've not been reassured by MW telling me not to come to clinic
I was in contact with someone who had slapped cheek last year when I was pregnant and it took 5 weeks to get the results, and then i only found out because i had a 20 week scan at the hospital and someone casualy mentioned it. If you havent come out with anything by now then you're "probably" ok. I found that midwifes and my GP were unsure on what the course of action was but take it that no news is good news. As long as your rubella immune then everything should be fine . You'd know if you wasnt as it should have been picked up at your last pregnancies. Sorry not much help , its just what happened to me.
Think i came into contact with everything going last year, even got swine flu when pregnant ..its not worth working as everyone goes into work ill!0 -
haha I don't know what the stand would be on garages
I just know my mum and nanna would have killed me if I'd kept pram at home, or told anyone before 12 weeks etc... very superstitious family0 -
Shock horror... I kept pram in house weeks before I had DS:eek:
*runs off to check*

I have mine already, it's a double and it is currently being stored in the bedroom that will be the baby's.....I am not superstitious at all though.
I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hairy with all three boys!! That is probably one major difference with this pregnancy and the only thing I can really point to that makes me consider the sonographer is right in saying I am having a girl. With the boys I was like an ape, I had to shave my legs every day, I had mega hairy tummy, between breasts, face....everywhere and it got worse with each boy. This time I can go weeks without shaving, no hairy face, tum, chest.....I am so relieved:o

Edit - That post makes me sound lovely doesn't it.....I think it was me that noticed it more, well no-one else inc dh ever mentioned it!!Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
lol you're all so brave!!! I like to pretend sometimes I'm not superstitious, but I actually have to do everything by it otherwise I fret and if anything did happen I'd think it was my fault for breaking it lol
I even do one that I don't think is actually real just in case - when an ambulance goes by, "touch my nose, touch my toes, hope I don't go in one of those?" And I have to do everything in 4s, and still don't step on the cracks even though I'm nearly 250 -
Ive got my pram in the house as well (spare room). My mum bought me it and I took it home to show OH without knowing about the superstition.
No extra hair for me, in fact I am like you Red, my hair is growing really really slowly.0
