Jopsey fingers crossed it all kicks off soon for you and overdue ladies are allowed to be stroppy so dont worry about it. Is your little lad better now ?

Lol at the grumpy saturday shoppers i try to avoid it as well id much rather go in the week when its quiet but then the pushchair is a bit of a secret weapon when people wont move i just barge it into thier ankles and i can get my own back on the miserable old coutes with their shopping trollies. It can get like a show down at the OK corral with shopping trollies and pushchairs at ten paces lol

I am very mistrustful of the NHS as I have no doubt that the decisions they make are based on what is best for them rather than what you would prefer. Hence why I feel birth plans are a waste of time :) I have written an 'action plan' for my DH and mum, basically if this happens I would prefer this, if such and such happens I want this etc... Basically like Xmas said it is a fluid plan, covering most eventualities, and is well researched. I'm not even showing the MW, just letting them be my mouth piece. The problem I had, was having an absolute Bit** MW and I physically could not get any words out while I was in labour (and I am def not the sort to stay quiet normally :D) so she took my silence as a green light to do what she wanted, I never agreed nor disagreed iyswim- I was absolutely silent, however felt completely violated as inside I was trying to say No, iyswim. She also made lot's of poor judgements, and generally was just trying to get me to fit in her mould of 'how a woman has a baby.' Unfortunately I'm not very good at working to other people's schedules, I have my own way of doing everything :D

Personally I am not a worrier at all. I don't see any need for it, as what I have control over I change to my liking and what I have no control over I can't change so just have to deal with it at the time. This helped me stay really calm with DD (through a 3 days of contractions every 20 mins too painful to sleep through, then a 26 hour labour from 6-10cm)

Basically everyone is different I am the sort of person that I have to research everything for myself as I don't trust what medical staff tell me. However some people prefer to know nothing, each to their own. Everyone has their own way of dealing with things.

Pigpen - LOL at your OH leaving your bag at home! Surely he should realise yours is the most important!! BTW I wouldn't recommend St Mary's in manchester at the moment as there has been a bit of an upheavel with the maternity unit in Trafford closing in Feb. All the patients and staff have been shared between St Mary's & Wythenshawe, and despite it being planned for 12 months it is all very chaotic! The standard of care I have received since then has deteriorated badly and nobody seems to know what's going on. (good job I've had no problems!!)

Jopsey - Lots of labour vibes, hope your little one puts an appearance in soon

Pigpen just think yourself lucky your not staying in Dudley. They have completely closed off all the roads into the town and the shops are boarded up for this so called protest. So you would have been stuck in dirty undies here!

    Morning All

30 weeks today and have a weird sense Little L is gonna be prem'.....
I've had some really weird dreams, premonitions, thought my waters were going last night..... some really painful twinges, strong braxton hicks..... i dont know if its all pyscho-sematic (sp!?) from midwife on thursday.... but i just feel like something is gonna come back on thursday with my bloods.

Anyway, had brekkie, cup of tea and some biccies, and done the washing up, Gordon is playing me up so he's gone into 'time out'

Not sure what else to do with my day though.....

jopsey Sending some labour vibes your way! :)

CAFC Hopefully its all psychsematic (sp?) and bubs will stay in tummy until July. Try not to let the dreams get to you. I know that is hard, as I've had nothing but nightmares since I got my BFP that I just can't seem to shake off all day :( but usually completely unconnected to the pregnancy.

Officially in my 2nd trimester as I'm 14 weeks today and starting to get a nice little bump. Feels such a relief and also slightly scary to say! Although reading this thread makes me feel I have a long way to go. Dragged OH baby shopping yesterday & he caved in to buying a moses basket, some vests, hats and scratch mittens but I've had to promise not to buy anything until next month now. I already know what I'm going to get- a steriliser, so any recommendations will be greatly received. Am off out tonight for the 2nd time since getting BFP and have been designated the driver. Its OH's work do and its the first time I've seen his work colleagues since we announced the pregnancy, so I'm sure that'll be fun. :o

Hope all are having a relaxing bank holiday! Best thing about being pregnant is the ability to scoff lots of easter eggs (thats if MS has dissapeared).

    Welcome Pompey!

Sorry to hear about your loss last yr. many of us know how that feels.

Congratulations on 14 weeks and here to a happy and healthy pregnancy for you xx

Thanks RR - I think Im one of these people who would rather be uninformed sometimes. i.e knowing that he's breech right now (yes I know hes probably turned over a thousand times since and will continue to) but if she hadnt told me, I wouldnt be concerned about him being breech for birth....
And if she'd just taken extra blood and not told me, I wouldnt be worrying myself about my liver....

Getting my appetite back a bit though so thats making me feel a bit better, and hopefully provide baby with some extra calories for growing.
Am I right in thinking we should be consuming 200 extra calories a day in tird trimester?

I'm just packing my hospital bag atm (figured that it's the one job that cant be done afterwards lol)

I'm struggling to decide what to wear to labour in at the hospital. Anyone got any suggestions? I thought maybe a nightie but I think the length might annoy me but a t shirt or vest would be very short and leave me a bit exposed lol.

Ideally I would like a waterbirth in which case I figure I would wear nothing or just a vest but I don't know if this will be possible.

Would love to hear experiences from anyone who's been there before.
