Congrats maureen :j:j must be good to have callum home after that.
(((hugs))) to CAFC girl, I think some people shouldn't have dogs as they don't know how to look after them and then they behave in a negative manner either towards people or other dogs.
At 15 weeks I must admit not thinking of the birth yet, but is worthwhile hearing the stories to be prepared.
Hope everyone has a nice easter break, meeting friends tonight trying to work out what to drink as get bored of oj after the 3rd glass and prob not good for the indigestion I've been suffering with.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

Hello All
Cafc thats sounds scary and children shouldnt be walking dogs they are unable to control and parents should have been more apologetic and helpful really.
We have been sorting the nursery out today am only 18wks but may back is already a nightmare so best to do it before it gets worse, husband put up the cot we got free from netmums which is great, then he ironed the curtains and put them up, then we stacked all the nappies under the cot (well actually he did) - ok when I say we sorted the nursery he did the sorting I did the ordering!!!
Nipped out to sainsburys and when walking from car to the shop in the awful rain this mum is carrying her toddler and her older child (about 6yrs old) is running backwards facing her being silly so I go to avoid them and he literally runs into me elbowing me in the stomach so I shouted at him to be more careful and at the mother for not controlling her child in a busy carpark on a wet day - husband walked off embarassed but I am already in pain from my back and have no patience for idiots - I probably was a little OTT but she didnt even apologise.
Anyway making a nice roast beef dinner for tonight.
sainsburys have 25% off tu clothing at the mo we got a 3 pack of white newborn sleepsuits for £3.38 and they have the fold over mitten type arms on them.0 -
funny, I've been thinking more about the whole "birth" bit quite a bit today as I got the invite for the preparation for parenthood (what's wrong with the term antenatal?!) classes this morning.
I'm trying to be as chilled about about everything as I can. I'm not planning on writing a hugely detailed birth plan, I've not done this before and I've no idea how I'll cope, so I'm planning to go with the flow as far as possible. It's a really foreign concept for me as I like to plan everything, but I figure it's the only way to stay sane and not panic. I also think I'd find it more traumatic if I planned for things to go a certain way and it didn't happen.
on the topic of c-sections, of course I don't want a section if I can avoid it but if it's best for me and best for my son, obviously I'm going to do it. I'd also rather that if I'm found likely to need a section, that it was planned, rather than emergency - even if the advice of some is to avoid it at all costs. I figure even with a new surgeon, in a calm, planned environment, mistakes are less likely to be made as there's more time for things to be done carefully.
There's risks with every intervention in a birth (or with no intervention in some cases). You just have to look at the recent news about my local hospital which reportedly caused the death of a newborn baby through improper use of forceps last year. Scary, very scary, but I've got to say, if my baby was stuck and was going to suffer in some way by not using interventions, I'd probably risk the intervention, despite the bad press.
I'd say the main thing to keep in mind for anyone that's now in a panic about it is that you only really hear of the horror stories, such as Pigpen's, and forget about all the ones that go smoothly with no issues.
just my thoughts...though of course I may panic more at some point over the next 10 weeks...0 -
Congrats on being home Maureen :-)
Freebie its so annoying isnt it my son is going through a walking backwards faze and always gets a good telling off if he tries it in a busy place. I think some people just dont give a damn what their kids are doing!
* Sticks her fingers in her ears and says la la la la la im not listening* for all the bad birth press. I know not very mature but i am so determined to have the birth i want this time that i am only thinking positive. I know what can happen and the choices we could face OH is prepped and knows what to do should I be out of it Which is basically get the baby out safe at all costs. I just dont see the point in me worrying myself about it unless i am faced with it.
On a lighter note i have just ordered my hypnobirthing course off amazon OOH im so excited to get it i managed so well with my last one until the last 20 minutes i hope this will help me stay calm and collected and enjoy the whole experience :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
Hugs to CAFC - That sounds really upsetting.
Hugs also to MGEB's daughter! I had my tonsils out last year as I kept getting tonsillitus as an adult - owww, no icecream for me either, they wouldn't let me out until I ate all the toast etc for breakfast the following day. I was off work for 2 weeks!Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

feel a bit better after playing fetch ducky with Gordon....
and then we covered the carpet in deodoriser and he watched me do the hoovering...... it weirdly helped with my pelvis, think it was the rocking...
And then had a massive plate of oven chips for dinner... nom nom nomWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Congrats again Maureen!
Well done on joining the yellow club elaine
Hot chocolate makes a nice replacement instead of orange sir monster, plus if its too hot, it will take you longer to drink
I know how you feel about sticking your fingers in your *eyes*I have tried to avoid reading some of the awful things that have happened with others in the thread- I know that sounds like im not sympathetic and a bit of a
but I dont mean to come across that way. I think it is for the best to remain calm and positive for mums and babies and some things may add to the fear of giving birth (esp if youve never done it before!). If im being completely honest, it would be nice if people could post on the birthing stories thread instead and maybe link to their experiences on the other thread.
I was just wondering if you lovely ladies can offer some advice... when your baby was getting 'engaged', did your baby do a lot of washing machine type movements or did you hardly notice? Just wondering because I have been forced to sit in some strange positions today due to bubs turning upside down and back again- ALOT... ALL DAY... anyone experienced the same? I'm 30+2 weeks.
Hope youre all enjoying Good Friday btw. XXFirst baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0 -
Xmas, I'm glad I wasn't the only one with her fingers in her ears 'lalalala ing'! In my geekish way, I have realised that tomorrow it's 100 days until bubs is due :eek::eek:
