DD3 was hacked out at 5am and I was in the shower by 11... so that means nothing, I also had Hb of 5.1 and should have been incapable of standing and been offered a transfusion.. of course that wasn't happening either!

when I had DD4 I had 2 contractions which ripped everything to pieces. That surgeon was horrifed and said by rights I should have been dead. The damage was so bad they wanted photographs!! It took 15 minutes to find the uterus and DD4 and I was bleeding massively. My bowel and bladder were repaired, my uterus was repaired, the peritoneum was removed entirely and the muscles stitched back to their proper place. DD4 has cerebral palsy do to blood loss and O2 deprivation.

  • Ok i am going to cowardly back away from the laptop now......:o:o:o:o

Sometimes knowing very little is the key to an 'easy' birth...at least it's what kept me calm with the lead up to DD..this time i am crapping myself, especially with knowing more and more each day :(

I just kind of wish hubby hadn't told me what he'd been advised and just fought my corner if the issue arose - but obviously he thought i should know....arggggh!

I think i am going to go and find a plot of sand to bury my head in for the rest of my pregnancy...at least it'll calm my nerves if not anything else!!!

I disagree MGEB.. if you know little, they do know more than you and given their reluctance to give proper full information to enable you to make an informed decision leaves you not only powerless but at risk. you know the saying 'forewarned is forearmed' .. it works both ways. don't ever go through life blind not only do you miss out on important things people do take advantage.

    Hi everyone....

It all got worse for me last night, even to a stage where I physically couldnt stand up. Felt like I was having stitches ripped out from along the bottom of my bump, pubic bone was so sore, felt like i was coming apart.... DH made me a hot water bottle and i was up on all fours trying to get weight off of it, came so close to getting DH to get me into hospital...
    And then I got heartburn!

Took me 15 mins to get into bed, couldnt bend, then i couldnt lay, had a pillow inbetween my knees which helped a bit....but took me ages to get to sleep and i didnt get out of bed till 12.

Physically pelvis is a bit better but cant move around for very long, and the puppy is being mental as well.... but I really dont want to shut him away in his pen, hes getting anxious enough as it is.

DH is back at work as well, and wont be back till 10pm so im hoping im ok for the next 3 days at least...

Shall be mostly sat on the sofa watching tv all day, and surfing t'internet....might watch Robin Hood as well, its my tradition for easter weekend...xx

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoys the BH weekend....

  • Oh CAFC - i feel for you! I get the ripping pain too - its 99% at night and i think it's where the tummy ligaments and muscles are soooo relaxed, then you move naturally in your sleep and pull one - it hurts like hell, i woke up crying last night as i had it so bad, i was trying to wake hubby to help me move gently as i was stuck stiff and in pain but he didn't sodding wake up...it eases after a while but while it is there it feels like the worst pain in the world! Is this what you feel too? i hope it goes for you...and me! x Do you put a pillow under your tum when on your side, that helps me a bit as i am getting it less now...but it hasn't stopped it altogether.

I know what you mean Pigpen, i know plenty about the risks and procedures and so on - and my rights and all so could easily stick up for myself, hubby does too thankfully - just your post scared the hell out of me and it's those things i need to keep ignorant about or i'll never relax :( I know it was never intended that way but boy i am now terrified...hence the bury my head in sand comment :)

  • Sorry CAFC just re-read your post (doh me) - but i was at the hosp the other day and a lady in the next bed was being spoken to about a strap that could be prescribed to ease the pain from the pelvis - you might actually do good to ask. It's not a normal strap as has to be prescribed as is made to measure or something - if i were you i'd tell them just how much pain your in in order to try one at least :)

That's why you only got about 1/4 of the story!! lol.. I ended up very ill with post traumatic stress, I actually thought I had lost the plot! It was horrific! But DD3 is fine and well and I am not dead and neither is DD4 even though they 'knew' she was.. so that is what you have to keep in mind or you do go crazy.

yeah ive had 2 pillows on either side of me for a while now to support my bump....

its a really weird sensation that is hard to explain. Its like how you explained it, twinned with (sorry TMI) feeling like you really need a poo, and the pressure you get....

Got a headache as well and the dog is really stressing me out....

Pigpen, while I really sympathise with your experience (you should never have had to go through that hell) and I agree that it helps to know the facts, I feel I need to also balance your experience.
My DD's birth was fairly horrible initially as I actually managed to progress backwards! Went from 7cm dilated to about 2cm! I found the majority of the midwives incompetent, and found it traumatic and upsetting. For me, when the consultant finally came in in the evening and quickly took charge, deciding a c-section was needed my experience became much more positive and I found he was much more professional.
The surgeon came in and introduced himself and his team, told me exactly what to expect and what they were going to do and my daughter was born and I was stitched up within about 40 minutes of the decision being made. I really couldn't fault the surgeon at all - my scar is miniscule and I struggle to even find it now, and I was up and about the next morning first thing - I probably would have tried that evening, but the midwives told me not to try. The C-Section was a relief and I found my consultant really professional and trustworthy. I don't know what to expect this time, but I'm hopeful that I get the same surgeon!
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

And the fact you are still having more babies so it can't have been the end of the world....;)

See I was scared for ages after DD to have another even though mine was a nice straightforward procedure (much like Redstar's experience). That's why it took nearly two-three years to pluck up the courage to even get my coil out and 'get busy' again...i am glad i am now as i always really wanted another little mini-us running around :D

    Thanks pigpen and Redstar! :)
