Did anyone watch OBEM last nite? I was out and have just watched it... spent the last hour crying my eyes out over the premature babies! Must be the hormones! xDebt Free Wannabe Nerd #2450

Though the steroids have minimal if any affect.
It was mine that was born at 31 weeks I was told I wouldn't be going into labour and when I asked about the steroids (having had them with DS2 and DD2) the consultant said they were next to useless anyway especially aafter around 30 weeks as the lungs are developed enough already, though there is the odd exception.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
That is a normal appointment!!!!
Last one I saw didn't know what the blood forms meant and I had to tell her what it was saying and explain what to write on the forms for sending off the new bloods.. then she wondered why I refused to have another appointment!!
I wouldn't let 99% of the midwives I've ever seen deliver kittens let alone human babies!!
Thanks Pigpen that made my laugh I had thought my normal midwife was pants but this one really took the biscuit (mind you she couldnt find a biscuit if under her nose!!!) - never mind am having shared care with consultant (who will prob turn out to be one of the juniors in the team).0 -
Hi all Hope everybodys well.
Haven't posted for a while, Have had terrible pain in my left side and back especially under my rib.Had to visit gp last week who thought I pulled a muscle and also found I had a urine infection so prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen. No improvement so saw midwife yesterday for my 25 week check up who found that the pulled muscle was actually babys head wedged under my rib as baby is lying transverse and has no room in my body to lie in any other position.Midwife thinks I won't be able too carry full term until july as my scoliosis and spinal deformity and babys weight are affecting my health now so c section in june is likely.
Also saw anesthetist today who was lovely and said my only option is general anesthetic as she doesn't want to risk damaging my spine by trying a epidural so thats another thing sorted.
Going to post my health in pg forms now.
P.s mother &baby mag has a £5 voucher for spending in disney store on any disney item.Used mine today on a dumbo blanket which was £10 but £5 with voucher.Cheaper items are money box £6 so £1 to pay or blankie £7 so £2 to pay.Mickie and minnie items are also included for those who know what sex baby is .Dumbo is their unisex range.Love can tame the wildest0 -
Eeek! :eek:I'm quite glad i'm niaive about it - i'm still at the stage where i'm hoping to get through with deep breathing, a birthing pool and maybe some gas and air.
Gilly x
Sorry, I think I may have been a bit insensitive in what I said. I didn't mean to alarm anyone:( I am most likely feeling this way because I only went through it last year and don't have particularly small babies (not gigantic but on the big side). But if it were that terrible/traumatic I wouldn't be here for the 4th time would I. I also wouldn't entertain the idea of more;)
Some people view birth as an experience...I view it as a means to an end and just prefer to get it over and done with:pUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -

redmel i dont think you frightened anyone i think we all know how bubs has to come out,
im still wanting a home birth but not sure im gonna get it with my spd, i have an appointment at the end of may with an anaesthetist to see how bad my back & pelvis is to see if i need a planned c/s something i really dont wont but im sure by may i will know if im able to give birth or not, c/s is a million miles from my home birth plan but i know i have to do whats best for bubs and me everybodys experience is different x
som owww hope s/he moves soon and hope you can carry as long as possible
rant alert if you dont want to read i dont mind:mad::mad:
i think ive said before my mother has a mental illness, today is dd 13th bday and she hasnt phoned or sent a card,
on monday my dh borrowed her car to get to work, she called me from asda at 5.15 for dh to collect her but he wasnt home so i told her that and she asked me to pick her up but i couldnt as ds has swimming lesson at 5.30 i was having lift with my friend, she then called me vile names and slammed the phone down, dh took her car back after work as planned now she obviously has an issue,
im not sure if she is just being a b!tch (she can be)or if shes unwell but i just cant cope with her at the mo, that sounds awful but if shes unwell i always get it in the neck, think threats to kill me or burn my house down when we are all asleep
i think shes been trying to wind me up for a few weeks with constant digs knowing that im going to react then she plays the victim
im not finding this pregnancy easy and dont need any hassle :mad::mad::mad: now i just dont know what to do0 -
Sending hugs to 1more. That sounds really hard to deal with, and I'm fairly sure that I would have been completely reduced to tears with this. It may seem cowardly, but is there any way you can avoid her calls? Do you have caller id at all? It can't be helping your stress levels at the moment.

I've just been having a look at the Tommy Tippee site - I have literally NO CLUE what I'm supposed to be buying. I want to b/f but is it a good idea to get some bottles just in case I can't? I've read that you shouldn't mix breast and bottle to start as the baby gets confused but I was hoping (horribly niaively I found out, after my mum almost wet herself laughing at the idea) that I could express at weekends when OH doesn't have to go to work so I could sleep and then bf in the week. I'm sure you'll all think that sounds stupid but I thought it was a sensible idea
So, if I am breastfeeding do I also express at the same time? Or ...?
Sorry I porbably sound dumb I'm quite an intelligent person but I'm totally out of my depth with this baby thing.
Presumably, if I need a bottle I need steilising equipment, but if I'm only breastfeeding they are "self cleaning", right? What would be a good starter set to get?
On the subject of NCT classes I have booked myself and OH on 18 hours worth for £150 which covers breastfeeding, labour, bathing and all other stuff. Do you consider this a waste of money? I'm thinking if someone doesn't show me what I'm supposed to be doing I'm terrified I'm going to inadvertently harm my child!
I'm wonderful with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats and small furry things by the way :rotfl::rotfl:Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
