I'm currently sleeping with 5 pillows (inc 1 between legs) and OH, all 6ft 4 of him is curled on the very edge of the bed.. I tried strangling him the other day apparently.. oops.. I looked at the body pillow things.. then decided I had managed the last 8 without one and didn't bother.. but I have absolutely no stomah mucles this time so my back is crippling.. and my pelvis and hips are clunkier than usual and my knees hurt... so now I wish I had bought one!

I requested a referral to physio 8 weeks ago and was told to wait until after dating scan.. and still it hasn't been done.. pointless now as by the time the appointment comes through I'll have popped! (15/16 weeks from now)

  • I just have a V-pillow, another of my ebay bargains...it's the Mothercare one still instore now, someone sold it new in the packaging and box and i got it for about £5 inc postage :D That sometimes tucks slightly under tum and the other end between legs - but then again i am only 5ft tall :D Sometimes as i still like to lay completely on my front i curl it and put a normal memfoam pillow against it so my tum can fit in the circle hole and wallah, nice n comfy. Though OH does laugh at me when i do this :)

The V-pillow is soooo coming into hosp with me when i go into labour though! Along with my tens machine (i have bought a mammatens mytime, expensive but amazing - i have been trying it out lol), birthball and pump, aromatherapy oils, special labour massage oil AND my natal hypnotherapy cd - lol! I am determined to go natural after last times crazy last stage :D

  • Oh i forgot to say but i hope you ladies, especially those who are expecting your first are aware that many will be entitled to child tax credits usually untill baby is 1 - thats even if you don't usually get anything at all like me.

I just done a run through on entitledto website to see if we'd get anything once bubs comes (as we are just over in income bands) and was pleasantly surprised to see that once he is here we'll be entitled to a nice little pay of Child Tax Credits at the baby rate for the 1st yr and even a little bit of Housing Benefit - every little helps! x

  • I've just been having a look at the Tommy Tippee site - I have literally NO CLUE what I'm supposed to be buying. I want to b/f but is it a good idea to get some bottles just in case I can't? I've read that you shouldn't mix breast and bottle to start as the baby gets confused but I was hoping (horribly niaively I found out, after my mum almost wet herself laughing at the idea) that I could express at weekends when OH doesn't have to go to work so I could sleep and then bf in the week. I'm sure you'll all think that sounds stupid but I thought it was a sensible idea :D
So, if I am breastfeeding do I also express at the same time? Or ...?
Sorry I porbably sound dumb I'm quite an intelligent person but I'm totally out of my depth with this baby thing.

Presumably, if I need a bottle I need steilising equipment, but if I'm only breastfeeding they are "self cleaning", right? What would be a good starter set to get?

Hey Budget, I was saying to someone else earlier today ( or it might have been yesterday... i dont know anymore! lol) but when I had DD 4years ago, once milk came in properly, I would sit at home and feed her on one side and express using a manual pump on the other side. I found that I was able to express more doing it this way rather than expressing between feeds - the morning feeds were always the best tho, seemed to have loads of milk. It helped keep my supply up when I went back to work so I could feed at evening/nights and meant that the odd occasion where i'd get to go out she would get a bottle of her usual rather than formula. she was probably about 4 months before she got a bottle rather than breast but i then went back to work at 5months and she was fine with doing both. I think its just trial and error and see how it goes.

As someone else said tho, you'll need a sterliser for the pump bits, and i think most recommend having about 4 bottles if you plan on expressing and have someone else give the feeds. HTH

  • 'Self cleaning' ? Lol, i just got an image of trying to sterilise your own boobs after each feed, haha! :rotfl::D

Yeah hun, you'll need a steriliser - i have bought the microwave Tommee Tippee one, it comes with a few bits, and includes a bottle too to start with. It's the same one i had with DD and does the job nicely ;) and isn't too fancy or expensive!

  • Hey ladies :)

Sorry not been about the last week, not been well and in quite a bit of pain so can't sit at 'puter' for long... or sleep!!!!

MGEB - I had the Fetal Fibronectin Test. I was very similar to a smear, but less uncomfortable. If Fibronection is detectable in vaginal secretions between 22 and 35 weeks, it could indicate your body is getting ready to deliver early. There are two results from this positive or negative. Negative test result - you are unlikely to deliver soon, you can be at least 99% reassured that you won't deliver in the next two weeks. This test can be repeated at 2 week intervals. The small percentage of women who have the test will get a postive result, this means they have an increased chance that the baby could arrive early.

I was looked after impecibly. They explained absolutely every detail along the way, and what would happen if it came back positive to help the babies lungs mature, the drugs that would be given and where I would have to be taken to get the right care. Thankfully this was not the case, but I was totally reassured by the staff and consultant who gave me and my partner top notch care.

I would ring your labour ward for advice MGEB ;) They have told me that if my symptons change one little bit that I need to get my !!! down there to be monitored again. Don't ever think you're being a pain, or over anxious, you're not and they are they happy, ready and willing to look after you. It's their job and what they are trained to do :)

Just to bore you!... I'm still suffering at 32 weeks with Hyperemesis, I've also got an irritable uterus (contracting constantly) and SPD. This truly has been (for me) the pregnancy from hell :( I had a growth scan yesterday as I am large for dates - this confirmed all is well but I am large, after seeing the consultant and discussing this conbined with the 3 torturous things I'm suffering, he wants to see me again in 3 weeks and book for induction at 37/38 weeks. Having had 2 relatively normal pregnancies and births, and up til now very anti inductions, I honestly can not wait. Each day is filled with pain and tears and I'm not being a very good mum to my two children and I just want to enjoy being again. Sorry to have a moan, but sometimes life just isn't fair is it?!

Anyway, apologies once again for not replying to every post. Welcome to all newbies and please don't get put off by my post :j I never made it to our local NCT sale but I'll make the next one with sprout in it's carrier rather than tummy :T

    Hugs to all x

Budget, cool, thanks for that. I think I'm gonna treat myself at some point, especially for something that can be used afterwards.

BSM, that's awful that you're still suffering. Sorry your consultant was a twerp! It is probably for the best, like you say, bubs being induced. You seem to be going through a lot at the moment. Hopefully taking bubs on a lovely shopping trip at the NCT sale might make up a bit for it.

    Hi all

didn't manage to get on yesterday as was out after work at my course. I told my boss and everyone at work yesterday and everyone was lovely - so happy for me! I feel very relieved and happy that they all know. My boss is letting me take flexi time this aft to go to a real nappy demo at the local (to work) library!

I've also got a chicco bouncy chair off netmums for £5 which I am going to pick up tonight (or hopefully my friend is!)
