    Hi all

I'm still catching up from last night but I've got another question I'm afraid. Kezia has just woke up and when I went to change her she had a dry nappy. Last changed her about 12.30am. She's 6 weeks old and this is most unusual. How long should I leave it before I start to worry?

    Thanks
    xxxx
it may be that she is sleeping soundly, i've read something where it said they dont wee as much when they are sleeping soundly and only wee when they are in the stirring bit of their sleep phase IYSWIM? i know when seth was waking every hour-two hours he was weeing a lot more than he does now, try not to worry too much but keep an eye on it, i'm sure she's fine :)

  • I used colief briefly and used a small amount of EBM in a tiny cup (the top of a medela bottle!!) but it was very faffy in the night.

We found a double dose of infacol was just as effective...but then I am not convinced that it was actually colic, just wind!

    Hi all

I posted occasionally on the preg thread but just can't find the time these days. I do try to keep up though!

Charlotte was born on 16th Sept (same as Jillies Kian) and its lovely to read how both Kian and Glams Jack are getting on as it helps me feel we are doing ok as we are all having similar probs/celebrations. Our jabs are next week though so fingers croosed they go ok.

Charley has had some problems with colic so I have been giving her gripe water (we found it worked much better than Infacol Glam). However, I am not sure that is the problem. Take yesterday for example, she started crying/screaming at 3pm and didn't finish until 8pm. What I have noticed though is she seems to scream when she needs to trump and/or fill her nappy (she had three dirty ones in yesterdays episode). It's not every time, perhaps three or four times a week. She is still BF and I'm not sure if its something I eat (fruit I suspect hence I eat it rarely) or another problem. I had her at the doc's two weeks ago and he said it was colic and I will ask again next week when we go for jabs.

Has anyone else had anything like this? Her poo (TMI) is still yellow and very runny so not constipated (I don't think )

I feel awful just posting for help but hugs to everyone and congrats weezl on team blue!

PS The crying never happens at night. She tends to sleep from 11pm til 4, then half 4 til 6 then 6 til 8. Last night she went from 10 til 6 with no feed (this has happens three times randomly over the last ten days)

Thank you for any thoughts xxx

    Hi Jam,

Holly was born 3 days after Charlotte so we are pretty close in dates too!!!

She suffers from trapped wind too and finds it sore to pass wind. She very rarely cries, but gets distressed and draws her legs up when she has wind. I associated colic with burping, but HV referred to our problem as colic too. We are giving her Infacol just now and previously used Dentinox. It is much improved since we started on double doses of Infacol. Other things we find helpful are jiggling/bouncing her gently when she seems distressed (on knee or bouncing her on the bed!), lying her on her tummy and massaging her back downwards each day, and gentle tummy massage.

Her poo is like korma and is once a day so she does not seem constipated. Our jabs are on Monday next week so fingers crossed here too.

Weezl – congratulations! I like Rufus, and Felix was a favourite here too.

I've not actually looked at how it has to be mixed. She took almost an ounce of ebm out of a TT CTN bottle two days ago so it might be an option. I assumed it would have to go in a full bottle so i'll look into that more. I just feel its more connected to her 'outgoings' rather than wind going in but the coeleif is for lactose intolerancce isn't it? Will get some from doc next week and try with the syringe (or bottle if she still takes it).

Thanks for the thoughts, i had dismissed coeleif but will now revisit it.

    Thank you!!

Ps The cry before was a full nappy leaked up her back, i bathed her quick then wrapped her in a towel on the fllor while i cleaned the changing mat - of course she weed all over the carpet!:rotfl:

    Completely OT!!

Does anybody know of any rosettes where you can write on the round bit in the middle?

I've made these before for a project, I used florists ribbon which holds its shape well, cut 4/6 long strips (diagonally) staple in the middle, fold the ends into the centre and staple, staple 2 long pieces to the back that hang down (cut these at an angle at the bottom) then just glue a circle of white card on the front, this hides the staples too.
Florists ribbon is about £2 for a million metres.
Does this make sense, and therefore be of help??!

My HV said there are 4 colic remedies that are widely used - Coleif, Dentinox, Infacol and I can't remember the other one, but I think its the one where you put granules on baby's tongue. They are all designed to break down the wind in the baby's tummy to allow them to expel it easier as their digestive systems cannot always break it down. It could be expelled either from their mouths or their bottoms so they should do for either problem I think.

I have read definitions of colic as being where a baby cries for more than 3 hours regularly, which Holly definitely does not do, but the wind problem is the same. It's probably trial and error so just keep trying different remedies, but make sure you give them at least 4 or 5 days to take affect.

    Off out now. Good luck!

Colic drops...I never tried colief (too expensive;)) But used dentinox with great success with all three of my boys...found infacol and gripe water not to be very effective! Dentinox also good because can be put in the bottle OR used directly out of the syringe:)

Bottles.....Does anyone here use (or has used) Avent bottles and do you rate them? I use tt ctn but the teats are knackered on them so just spill out everywhere, I bought him new teats but he was just getting frustrated with them as not enough was coming out then:rolleyes: I ended up cutting them but thought how silly to do that so just went back to the ruined teats....anyway nursery said they have been pouring his milk into an Avent bottle and he drinks it really well. They also said that the Avent teats are a lot firmer so when he chews (as he does constantly lately) it doesn't cause the milk to flow out everywhere.......

I am nipping out shortly so am wondering whther to just buy him some Avent bottles.
