Thanks for the nursery input MM - I'm still thinking about it but and you have given both sides which is good. Maybe I will look at 2 days nursery 3 days CM
Cos I might not even get 5 days at nursery cos Waiting List so long!
There used to be a website you could check CM's in the area but all I can find now is the DirectGov one and it's nowhere near as good as it was!
You are best getting the list off the local council anyway because the websites are not up to date enough to keep up with new CMs and ones who have stopped/been removed from the list.
Although my lovely lady was the result of a plea on Netmums (which bizarrely I have never used before!!)
That's kind of what I'm doing - I used to wait until he was fast asleep but am now putting him down when's he's just dropped off but he still wakes up and cries! Managed to get him down about an hour ago when he was probably 60% asleep so getting there. Will try the pillow if I don't get anywhere!
Have you tried laying him on a warmed blanket when you put him down? Not as important if he is in a sleeping bag but it can be a big shock going from warm mummy-chest to cold crib mattress!!
You will get there, we have all done the putting down, picking up dance at some point
Anyone else find they have a bigger sex drive after baby born?

Em, woodlice EAT rotten wood so if you have an infestation its because wood is rotting away. Your landlord sounds like an idiot.Emlou – that sounds like a nightmare. Definitely speak to CAB if you don’t get anywhere with landlady. Do dehumidifiers not cost much in electricity? I rented a flat once which had dampness round the window frames and were told to use a dehumidifier, but I didn’t bother because I felt they should have fixed it and I didn’t want to pay extra for electricity! When we were moving out, they fitted new UPVC windows anyway so next tenants got the benefit of that.
it cant he healthy for him!

my own reasons for using a CM are flexibility which a nursery cant provide, i was worried about seth not napping there and being left to cry, and nursery fees were a lot more expensive than a CM. also, the CM i chose is registered as an early years teacher and does school pick up from the school seth will most likely go to, so when he becomes old enough for the however many hours a week free he can go to her, and he can carry on going to her after school when i'm at work
for me, perhaps contraversially, it was important for seth to go somewhere he could interact with animals and learn how to treat them too, and she has two dogs and a herd of 30 guinea pigs and rabbits so he will get that there
something i noted with the CM's i met before choosing this one, was that some of them were clearly doing it for their own convenience as a way to make money from the comfort of their own home, or as a job they could do which would avoid them having to put their own children into childcare. in particular, one of them had her own daughter at home and 2 boys she minded, but had only pink toys and dolls in the toy box, and it seemed like she had made no effort to actually be a childminder IYSWIM. whereas the one i chose has had an extension built onto her house as a dedicated childrens area and the garden has lots of activity type things.
she also looks after several other toddlers/young children, and when her children come home from school (aged 14-16) they play with the children, and it is a lovely family atmosphere!
i wouldnt rule out nursery care at all, but i have been acquainted with some of the girls working in the local ones before and i'm not sure i would really want them looking after my boy, but that is because one is a friends ex and another is a mega chav :rotfl: but that is just cos i know who they are, if i didnt then i wouldnt have a problemMummy to
