    I'm a researcher. I'm a philosopher, but I work in a psych unit.

I'm glad your first days back are going ok. It's interesting that you can manage to be Professional MFD at work and Mummy at home, I was worried about separating them.

Ooo- what an interesting job!! Do you work in German or English?

I think once you are on the way to work you switch into work mode (possibly as a way of blocking out mummy mode :o) but so far I haven't struggled.

LOL at nighttime nappies! I know Krystal uses disposables at night...a few of my RL mummy friends do too, may be an option?

MFD - I think I might have missed this whilst I was MIA. When are you going back to work? Are you looking foward to it or dreading it?

I start back on Monday. 2 days next week, 3 days a week after up to Christmas. Benjamin has a fab childminder who thinks he is gorgeous and he loves being there :T

Not looking forward to tonight as we're leaving Caitlin for the first time overnight. I feel sick thinking about it. We've got a work function of DH's to go to and Caitlin is staying at IL's all night. I trust them completely and don't have any issues with them looking after her, it just that they don't know her like DH and I do, so don't know her little ways and how to get her settled quickly, etc. DH is going to give them strict instructions. I was thinking about writing things down too (just things like her bathtime routine, that we don't pick her up in the night unless she's crying and won't settle, as 99% of the time, she just wants her dummy put back in, etc. Is that too OTT though?

If she is anything like Benjamin she will be an angel child!! You can write stuff down but TBH, what works for you won't necessarily work for them. AND even if it did, grandparents never follow your rules anyway!!!
Have lots of fun - remember it is only one night and if she stays awake all night everyone will still be alive and no harm will be done :D

Before that, we've got swimming this morning. We're going to a new swimming group this morning (£48 for 6 lessons instead of the freebie SureStart ones ) but my NCT group have been to them and apparently they're really good. I'm not that keen on the SureStart ones anymore as the pool isn't warm enough. I feel cold in it and the poor babies are shivering after about a minute, so it's not good at all.

Is that with a local or national company? I was looking the other day for ones to take Benjamin to after our (fantastic) surestart ones finish and they were £11.50 a lesson  for 20 minutes

So, I've got this squirming squawking but really cute baby lying in a moses basket in our living room .... what do I do now? :D

I am sure I am not the only one that read this with tears in my eyes - I am so pleased for you all :D

Bruno - not read anything about Calpol and asthma - surely you would need to be giving them tons of the stuff for it to have an affect though? Does the same apply for baby neurophen?

Oohh :( I'll PM you it now - I feel the need! :p

Have you got your hampers all planned out? :)

I'm now waiting for HV while Rhys naps.. again! He slept 6.30pm to 2am, 2.30am to 7.30am and now 9.45am to.... whenever! Should get blood test results later.. hope there's nothing up with them again! (high calcium makes him sleepy)

After HV visit, I've got to nip out to collect another steriliser from FreeCycle, then mum is bringing nan round for a visit as they're out this way this afternoon. OH will be at work later than usual as the fire brigade are visiting site - which may well include his old boss who left to join up to the fire brigade proper (had been retained before) about four months ago :)

Yay, there you are! :D How are things? xx :grouphug: (ya know, just in case you want one ;))

    Sorry for posting then dissappearing!

I had a bit of a breakdown the other day, and had appointment with Pysch. I took my letter (which ended up near 5,000 words). She read it, then said Well Done! She said it was a real breakthrough, and I'm obviously doing a lot to help myself, and we'll strike while the iron in hot. Referral been sent to the OCD Clinic, for group Anxiety Management and for a nurse to come and see me at home. New medication prescribed, but swine flu means I'm stuck indoors. Got a book to read in the meantime. It was positive and I'm pleased. Fingers crossed the referrals will come through. OH is more agreable about getting some help, I'm getting a cleaner for a couple of hours a week, and I'm trying to find a Nanny for 3 hours a week.

Does anyone know when I'm no longer contagious? LO seems fine, just snuffly and not wanting solids, but not too grumpy and not in pain. OH hasn't caught it either, but thinks he may have had it ages ago. I went on the Swine Flu website, but it didn't give me what I want (sympathy, not drugs!).

Hope everyone is well and that babies are all doing good :)

Talking of breastfeeding support, I sent an email to all the local clinics held at surestart centres, asking if I could go despite being out of catchment, but had no reply. I'll take that to mean I'm not welcome! HV did say that while I was pregnant, but said if I do have PND they should hopefully help. Homestart coming to see me in a week though. HV still not been in contact to ask how I am, after sending her an email saying I wanted LO adopted.
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.

grr. if you remember i posted a couple of weeks ago saying that there was damp in our bedroom, and advice was to put chalk in the room and get a dehumidifier. i got the chalk but held fire on the dehumidifier, and cleaned the wall with bleach and tea tree. as i cleaned it all the cream paint wiped clean off in my hand and revealed properly mouldy blue paint, so whoever painted the room cream painted over mould anyway. nice!

i wrote to the landlady pointing out what had happened, said she was more than welcome to come and have a look at the damage if she wanted to, and asked for a dehumidifier. i got a letter back this morning from her saying its our responsibility to do everything in our power to make sure it doesnt get any worse, as when we moved in there was no evidence of damp so it must have been caused by us (er, no, its come through from being painted over before, probably by her!) and that because we've caused the damp its up to us to get a dehumidifier, and that cos we've removed the paint she expects the room to be completely repainted when we move out! its not like i scrubbed it off, it wiped off on a sponge!! she also said she expects us to make sure the room is both well ventilated and heated - how on earth am i meant to do both?? if i open the window (which may i add is a broken sash window so needs to be propped open with a book) then the whole house gets freezing, i refuse to heat the house and then open the window, and i cant have the heating on for more than a hour cos the house gets too hot, then when i turn it off the house is so badly insulated that within half an hour its freezing again!

OH is fuming and wants to move house again first thing in the new year and has said he will only live in new build properties from now on, i'd love to move somewhere else to a less bug-y house (we currently also have a woodlouse infestation!!) and one with a driveway, but the whole reason we moved here is cos it was £100 a month less than other, nicer houses in the area, and he is still refusing to accept that we will be skinter as of next months pay cos of paying the CM!! argh!

    phew, thats better.
    so, hows everyone else? :rotfl:

em that takes the p!ss .. it is the landlords responsiblity as it is them who own the property you just rent it (my sister went through this with her LL) and damp cant be caused quick like that it is along standing problem ... i say fight the cow and say you'll take it furter that usually puts wind up there sails ..

not to bad here just a lazy day as dinners coming from one of my many frozen dinners ... i suppose i could be te pots but theres only about 2 :rotfl: .. jaydens playing so leaving him to it :D x

oh dont worry SM i will, i'm going to write back this evening to say i'm not happy about being decieved about the condition of the place, which i have been cos mould had obviously been painted over, and that its her responsibility to get us a dehumidifier cos of that. also going to say that as the owner of the property she should have a vested interest in ensuring that the mould is sorted and doesnt cause any structural damage! with any luck she'll be annoyed enough to send us an eviction notice and then we can take it to the council and ask them what they intend to do about it lol!
