Morning all!
Did anyone miss me?
I know Elle said hi to you all yesterday from me (thank you Elle). I've been really busy in RL the past week or so and haven't had much chance to come online except FB. I tried to get on last Fri afternoon but the site was bloomin' down!!
OH's BF's dad died last week, who we - especially OH - knew really well. It was the funeral on Mon but BF isn't coping to well at the moment, so OH is seeing and speaking to him quite a bit.
I saw Sami was asking who Eloise was...yep, she's my niece not another child I have hidden away. She unexpectedly came to stay from Wed until Sunday, as SIL had problems with childcare last week (her BF works away in the week, so it's just her at home and she had to go on a course which meant working longer days than she usually does). We had a really good time though, and looking after two children was easier than I thought (although Caitlin slept quite well, so was in a good mood which definitely helped).
Caitlin's doing pretty well. Still no sign of those teeth though, so I wonder if the white spots were a touch of thrush. Two different health visitors told me that they looked like teeth, but since none have appeared I don't think they were.
Since she regained her birth weight, Caitlin has always been just under the 25th percentile. I took her to be weighed on 19th October and she'd shot up to nearly 50th percentile. Most days now, I drop a BF in the afternoon and introduced an extra bottle of formula instead, so I thought the jump was due to the extra formula. I wasn't worried but just a bit surprised that one extra bottle had that much effect when changing over to more formula than BF three weeks before that hadn't made any difference! It was only when I looked in the red book on Tuesday that I saw they'd written her down as being 15 weeks old and marked it on the graph as that, when she was actually 16 weeks old. Doh! If they'd marked it correctly she would still be following her usual line.
We started baby massage yesterday. Caitlin managed to poo her nappy in the 15mins between leaving home and taking it off to start the massage. Then, when I started massaging her tummy (completely naked at this point), she thought it would be nice to do a wee . Olive oil and wee. Lovely. You can see wny I'm a mean mummy and don't let her have nappy-free time very often
So, what have I missed? I've read back odd pages (comments below) but let me know if I've missed anything major (like if a date for the Birmingham meet has been decided)
AM - I saw on FB that your relationship status changed. I don't know whether that is :j or, so I'll just send you a hug
Mel - HUGE congratulations to you!!
SM - I know you mentioned that you didn't want make up for Zoe's dressing up box but I have some here if you would the fairies to deliver it. It's brand new that one of my well-meaning-yet-quite-clueless Aunties bought me for my birthday. It's unbranded and is one of those ones that contains lipsticks that you apply with a little brush. It might have eye shadows in it too. I'd have to check though cos I can't remember. Hope the driving lesson goes well today.
Mookie - well done at being so brave at work yesterday. I am dreading going back (had to go in twice last week to discuss it, they are doing me out of a week and a half's pay  but that's another story) so can only imagine how you felt yesterday. It sounds like Leila had a good day. I bet she missed her mummy lots though.
MFD - lots of good look vibes for Benjamin's first day.
MM - glad Dylan's appointment went well. Happy birthday to Jasmine!
That's as far as I've read back, so hugs to anyone who needs them.

Could really do with a nap, but Izzy doesn't seem to want one, and this repair man is coming between 9 and 11, so hopefuly when he is gone I can sleep! I'm just trying to pluck up the energy to brush my hair so i don't look a complete messIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Morning,
Happy Birthday Jasmine! Hope you have a lovely day.
SM - good luck with your driving lesson.
Hypno - hello and nice to see you. Good to hear Austin is doing well and sleeping through. It makes all the difference!
Mookie - glad to hear returning to work wasn't too bad. I am dreading the day it happens and hope I can find a childminder as nice as the ones you and MFD seem to have found.
Hellos and hugs to everyone else. Hope everyone is doing something nice today. We are off to Frankie & Bennys for lunch with my team from work. Holly is fed and back asleep in her basket so going to nip for a shower and have some breakfast and hope we time it right to feed her before we go out.

My tumble dryer is out of action at the moment too. It's amazing how much you get used to something and miss it when you can't use it. We only got it fixed last week, but this week I jammed the filter in ours and had to yank it out and it tore so DH has glued it back together so I need to wait for it to dry properly before I can use it.
Can anyone recommend a good travel cot? Or do you know if there is much difference between various models? They all look the same to me except the Graco one with the mobile etc which we don't need. MIL wants to buy one for her house so we can go and stay over so has said we should get one and she will give us the money. I don't know what I am looking for though. Any suggestions welcome.x

Just popping in before a well earned sleep.
Well, it was as bad as I thought it would be but not any worse!!
Leila was asleep when we got to CM's this morning which is not surprising as I think she picked up on tension and she woke every hour throughout the night for the first time ever! I decided not to wake her and just left quietly.
I had a very heavy heart and a knot in my stomach when I left which stayed most of the day. But I managed to get through the day and get my work done. I found that I could seperate mummy from professional career woman and although I was mummy inside I managed to be professional on the outside.
I telephoned the childminder twice, at 11am and 2pm but wont ring tomorrow.
The CM was worried that Leila only drank 50ml of milk for her first feed with her but she took the rest of her bottles fine so she must have just been wondering where she was until hunger got the better of her.
Leila's home diary says she enjoyed playing with an activity centre and watching the clown mobile and singing nursery rhymes and having a massage. The CM said Leila hasnt stopped smiling and showed me lots of photos to prove it.
Leila was happy but tired when I collected her and went to bed at 8:30pm. I feel proud that I survived and didnt leave at lunchtime to go and get her and I sense that it will all get easier for me as time goes on.
Thanks for all the support xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mooki, so glad it went wellWell done for finding a way to seperate out your mummy self from your career girl self. I'm sure you did both roles admirably!
Hi all!
I'm going to try and keep up with this thread again i read back a few pages but bear with me if fail massively again and only post every now and then!
mm- Is the new medication Omeprazol? Good luck with it if it is, Austin wouldn't take it at all, we're back to Ranitidine and Baby Gaviscon and lots of gentle handling and sitting up after feeds!
Hi Hypno, nice to see you with us. Reflux sounds so horridpoor Austin, Dylan, Elijah and baby girl.
I have such a lot of respect for mums and dads dealing with it. At our HV lead mum and baby group there was one mum who's baby had reflux and she seemed so out of it, bless her!
Fitz, travel cots, I have an old-style graco which is great, no mobile tho
my criteria to consider would be:
can the mattress be removed and does it have an outer layer that is also removable?
Does it fit easily in your car even when full of buggy, suitcases, steriliser, monitor etc etc...?
Is it light and very quick to assemble/collapse?
Is it raised off the floor on legs?
hope those help!

fitz i think asda do one for either £25 or £29, for the amount its going to get used its really not worth spending any more. i'd just advise a muted colours one, cos we have a brightly coloured one and seth hates it but will quite happily sleep in the beigey one at the CM's, possibly cos its a similar colour to the cot?Mummy to
