  • em, this is their cancellation policy

    Cancelling this insurance
If you fail to disclose a material fact your policy may be voided from the policy start date and no prior notice will be given. You may cancel your policy with immediate effect by notifying us by phone or by post. Our contact details can be found on the reverse of your Certificate. We may cancel this policy by giving you at least seven days notice in writing. Where a policy is cancelled a refund of part of the premium paid may be due. Refunds will only be payable if the Certificate of Motor Insurance is returned to us. Any premium refund due will be calculated as follows, less any deduction shown in the Policy Payment Arrangements.
If you cancel within 14 days of receipt of your policy documentation, we will refund that part of the premium paid which relates to the term of the policy remaining at the date of cancellation. This amount will be refunded when we receive the Certificate, unless you have made a total loss claim in which case no refund will be given. Thereafter refunds will only be given if no incident has occurred which has led to a claim, or may yet lead to a claim against the policy and calculated as follows.
If you cancel within 12 months of the Policy Start Date, we will calculate the premium for the period of cover based on our short period rates in force when we receive the Certificate of Motor Insurance and refund any excess which you have paid.
If you cancel in the second or subsequent years the premium payable will be calculated in proportion to the period of cover and any excess which you have paid will be refunded when we receive the Certificate of Motor Insurance.
If we cancel, the premium will be calculated in proportion to the period of cover provided and we will refund any excess premium which you have paid when the Certificate of Motor Insurance has been returned to us.

Really they only allow 14 days from the start date of the policy, and for a refund you have to return the certificate of insurance. If you have not received this and all your details are corrct, then I think you will be able to fight this, but it does look like you should get a full refund of all policies not used as it is a renewal policy and not within the forst 12 months

elle i know when OH sent the forms off he crossed through the bit where he was meant to put his bank details and wrote that he will set up a standing order, he doesnt want them to have control over the amount cos he had an attachment of earnings put on there for arrears when he was out of work years ago, and overpaid by EIGHT HUNDRED POUNDS earlier this year cos they kept dragging their heels at telling his employer to take it off!! he doesnt trust them with his bank details and quite rightly so!

I've always had to chase the CSA for end notices.. If there's an amount to pay "until it's paid off" rather than "ongoing", we keep a running total so we know when it's about to end but I can't make any changes to the system until I have the CSA paperwork so I have to phone them, usually at least three times, then finally get a fax just at the last minute before payroll shuts off
The old system is a complete nightmare, some blokes killed themselves over the amounts csa said they owed and there's no getting away from them... Csa 2 was a slightly fairer system, that's what I'm on... No idea about the newest changes... But you can't just change from one system to another... The parent with care has to close the actual claim, wait 6 weeks and then open a new claim.. Not all pwc's are willing to do that...

We had a guy at work who couldn't/wouldn't take any promotion because he knew every extra penny would disappear to the CSA. I think he was on the old system paying 33% of his salary when on the new system he'd only pay 15% :( Lovely bloke too, completely messed up his career prospects cos of it.. :o

i dont think they've even read the forms he sent them, cos on the calculator on their website it works out to £170 a month on his wages if he has no children!

they are useless at reading the forms, my BILs ex stated that he never saw his sone and never gave any money for christmas birthdays etc ... and he was told to pay an extortionate amount each month, he appealed it as it seemed wrong to him and got to see the form and was able to tell them that he has his son from a Friday after school till a Sunday night every week since he was born and that he gives £200 towards Christmas presents every year (by cheque so he could prove it) and takes him on holidays every year and also buys most of his school uniform too. It was recalculater and proven that he had overpaid by several thousands of pounds and was given a very significant cut in his payments. Then when he and my sister had their kid last year he told them and it dropped again.
I'm sooooo excited and I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Em I didn't mean to butt in during your discussion but I just couldn't help it sorry

You wouldn't necessarily receive all that though, Button.. It all goes into a big pot and then some is paid out to the parent with care. It's inflated to make up for the ones who don't pay up.. I think :o (or maybe I just heard that from one of the ranting and raving dads I have to deal with.. the ones who want me to "accidentially" lose their paperwork before I action it on the payroll system )

If the pwc is not claiming benefits they get the full amount. If the pwc is on benefits then under the new system they get the full amount and anything over a certain amount gets deducted from the benefit... Under the old system they used to pay some to the pwc and the rest went to the secretary of state to go into the benefits pot... Csa don't keep anything or give it to the pwc of children who's nrp don't pay...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
