This year it will be 5 adults including OH and me, and Keira, who won't touch a thing, I know she won't.....her dinner will be something like fish fingers and a selection box :rotfl:

Yeah, plus it's just me cooking it, with one oven and a bottle of booze in my hand. Was nice last year though and everyone liked it :D Probably why they are all coming here again.

I had way too many leftovers of potato/veg, but I tured it into bubble and squeak for lunch the next day and the turkey got stripped and frozen into portions for currys/rissotos/fajitas. Waste nothing!!

I remember 2 Xmas' ago we went to my mums for Xmas (It doesnt feel like Xmas there at all, the food is !!!!!! too :)) and when we called OH's parents that night, his dad was up in his bedroom in a sulk because his mum had forgotten to put the oven on to cook the Turkey, and he had a right tantrum. His mum shouldn't have to cook it anyways as she doesn't celebrate it, but she does like presents and the food haha. Anyhoo, this is probably why they all want to come to mine because they are guarenteed a feed!

did he say why he was out so late SS ??

Ha! no. Apparently he was hoping to sneak in before Molly's night waking so I wouldn't notice

Also, we're having salad, duck, roast potatoes, three veg, stuffing, gravy/fruity sauce and Yorkshire puddings (by request) followed by eggnog cheesecake.

    Goodnight :)

It's alot of food. I know you said that on OS they put out alot, but what you wrote down seems alot to me. I suppose we don't as it's just me and 7 kids 9-16, although this year I have a new 'friend' to entertain. I have explained what we do and she said that is fine, so hopefully...

The booze....we have no booze in the house. Lucy doesn't drink and neither do I and the kids won't be either!

It's good you can not waste anything and turn it into something else. We have a few cold roast potato eaters, so it'll all be eaten in some way ;)

If you impressed them last year, that'll be why they are coming back. Especially if they don't have to do anything :o

Hmm yeah it probably is a lot, but I guess what astounded me is that they make so much and 3 different birds on the table, that they pre cook a lot and freeze it. Cooked then frozen, then defrosted and reheated mashed spuds on the day doesn't sound so good to me!

Ah why no booze? OH likes bailey at Xmas, I think it tastes like vomit :D

I'd probably still put a turkey dinner out if it was just us but I'd not make as much or starters/puddings. I wish Keira would eat though. She helped me make soup earlier and she loves helping in the kitchen but will not touch what she has helped cook. Frustrates me to no end! I should just do the eat or starve thing but we did that before and I gave in on day 3.....Soft touch me.

  • we have veg soup and corn on the cob for starters
main course we have turkey, ham, bacon rolls, stuffing, roasties, mash and / or baby boiled, green beans, carrots, brussell sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce and yorkies
pudding we normally have a pavalova or chocolate browniew or ice cream and jelly, or whatever I could be bothered to make or loads of different ones thrown together on a plate !!

Some of you really go for it! We are the basic meal and desert, albeit plenty of it.

I'm now starting to worry that Lucy won't be impressed, even though i've told her and she says it's fine.

You big servers have made me feel inadequate :o:rolleyes:

Oh, I hope he didn't have a drink.

I'm off too now. I don't know if i'm being silly, but really miss my new lady. I'll have her back again tomorrow evening for the whole weekend, but i'm off to an empty bed. Silly, I never get emotional about these kinds of things. Maybe it's because she's been texting me lots of nice things since she went home. I'm a big wuss tonight, i'd best go

Well, people do what they do. Remember going to Xmas dinner at my grans when a kid. All this food and not one bit was tasty :o

We have no booze as both mothers turned into peeheads and were aggressive with the girls. Booze has been banned in the house since and I don't drink anymore, although when I did, I was sensible. Lucy doesn't drink, so it's not an issue.

I think people make more effort when others are visiting. I don't know about soft touch. When I was young, my father force fed me if I didn't eat, regardless if I threw up.

You scared the living daylights out of me - I thought i'd posted and my post had disappeared above the signature.

I didn't know what to put, I just feel excited like a schoolboy again. I may talk too much Lucy, but she makes me happy :o Sorry if I go on :o
