Lose weight 28

I have deceided that instead of beating myself up & setting unrealistic goals I am going to loose a 1 lb a week.
if i can do this then i can loose 52 lbs this year.
This sounds perfect Beanie, like I keep saying 1lb is a still a decent amount to lose! You only have to pick up something that weighs 1lb to realise that's quite a lot to lose in a week! Good luck with it!
BB sorry to hear about what happened last nightWhat's this about Nyk and horses? (I'm being nosey!
)
Hello and welcome new peeps! Best of luck with your weight losses, keep posting your updates, hope it goes well!0 -

BB - sorry to hear your pain is still causing you so much grief. Not exactly the kind of fireworks you want to have as you welcome in the new year. I'm sure OH didn't feel so great when it came to going to work today either. Here's hoping your new year is as pain free as possible.
Victory - I've decided that everyone is having to eat more healthily in our house now. The last of the mince pies have been eaten by OH & the kids, so that's it now. The cupboards are just about empty of rubbish food. Little one has an unopened selection box still, but I've told him he can save that for a few weeks yet. I'm so glad I didn't buy in lots of stuff, but did make several homemade bits, which obviously get eaten first, and fast!
Granny - a size 10!! Wow. I don't think I have ever been in a size 10, or 12. Actually, tell a lie, it did have a cropped top, that was on the generous size, back in 1990 that was a size 12 from Topshop. That's the sole size 12 garment I've ever had. This time last year I couldn't fit in a size 16, so I should be grateful for that, although my 14's are too snug now to be either comfortable, or attractive to look at on me.
Hello Bargainbasement - I try to do my own thing for weightloss, which is basically calorie counting, as well as choosing lower fat/lower carb foods, making my carbs more complex (wholegrain/oats, etc), and good lean protein.
Welcome ladygogs - we all have a different journey to tread here, but the intention and desire is much the same. We'll be here to support you on your's, and BB is right to suggest you break down your long-term goal into smaller, more achievable and tangible segments. How about Trying to lose 1-2lb a week for the next year? It soon adds up. This time last year I had an aim to lose 2 stone by mid-April, and almost achieved it.... it took until June to do it, for a variety of reasons, but it was the 28lb in as many weeks pretty much.
Beanie - I totally agree that cheap food is oh so often rubbish food. I got a leaflet through for our local supermarket yesterday for the new year bargains, and I read out the reductions to my OH because it was pizza, pork pies, crisps, cheese, cakes and booze. Fortunately they are going to do a fruit & veg 5-a-day offer too. If you are a supermarket tart like me, you just go to all the different ones and buy the good bargains, whilst trying to avoid the carp food. I plan to stock up the freezer again this week on meat & veg, and do some menu planning too.
ffm - I love horses, and you are so lucky! They do take a lot of dedication and commitment though. I used to muck out, groom and tack up the horses at a local stables when I was a kid, and never even got a discounted riding lesson for my troubles. I had to stop going in the end because I couldn't afford the lessons (used to cycle 5 miles to do it at 7am on a Saturday & Sunday).
Here's to being the biggest bunch of losers in 2010!One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Hi sary, you sound like you were a great kid, pity they didn't discount your lessons. I gave up riding when I was about 12 and have only just started again more than 30yrs later
. Great exercise and no time to eat - perfect combination.
Also, no money left to eat after feeding the horse :rotfl:

Thank sary we did buy a lot less than we would have done but there just seems to be masses of it all around, not today though it is dwindling and the freezers where you could not stick a pin in before have only 2 shelves full and they are frozen chicken and salmon so that is good, the last of the deserts went today and only left iwth OH carte d'or which I don't eat anyway, now will not have one single thing in come monday, I know the shops are terrible places to be now when al lthe stuff is reduced to pennies especially the sweets, deserts etc that they have to get rid of to make way for the easter eggs:rotfl:but no no money will be exchanged for even more weight gain, nothing tastes as good as slim feels:D I spent the morning going over my cupboards fridge and freezer with a fine toothcomb and I know it is all gone, the kids have some sweets left but they have put theirs in their own draws in their bedroom so that is fine by me.
I find when I over eat or the insulin goes off the rails all I hanker for is protein, great big chunks of meat, tear it off the bone:rotfl::rotfl:it is never carbs strange when I would purposely pick the biggest jacket potato in the shop, cook it and eat it with lashings of butter if it did not hang over the plate it was not big enough:rotfl: now it is def meat, last sunday we had a home carvery, gammon, beef and left over turkey the kids hated the fact the turkey was cold and old, no one touched the beef as it seemed to smell and the gammon went down a treat, normally that would be my ideal perfect dinner, meat and plenty of it :D
Whenever I veer off I miss what I usually eat, my sugar free jelly with fruit for desert or the veg, especially got a thing about fresh sprouts, not frozen yuck but nice big fresh ones, my snack a jacks because I see all that I eat as diet foods when I go off course I have nothing at all like it and end up missing my grilled tomatoes or slices of cucumber or my soups:rotfl::D
Oh I tell you what I did have a banana sandwich and it was the loveliest thing, had it when I was little and not since but theo ther day just fancied one and it was0 -
I'd love to join this is I may
I'm currently 13st 7 (bmi of nearly 30!!) and need to lose at least 2 stone by May before we go for IVF again.0 -

Thanks for the reminder Victory I was getting half tempted by the reduced Ben and Jerry's but you may have helped my resolve.0 -
Hello Gemma :hello:
Welcome to the thread.
there are 17 weeks to the beginning of May, so if you lose between 1-2lbs each week you should lose 28lbs without a problem.
Just stay focused - with the hope of IVF it gives you something very special to focus on - Good luck and keep posting here, these guys are great

hi Gemma - welcome - and everything that FFM said:D
missy & ffm - NYK has a horse passion history, but now, as I understand it belongs to HA(Horses anonymous) becasue of the 99% time and expense:rotfl:that horses take.
thanks all re last night. It was horrid, and certain wretched for Mr BB to witness too, but it was really funny & a bit cute that he fell asleep fully dressed sprawled over the bed in the end.
I've eaten the last of the apple pies today. OH has a trifle but i don't like them. Shredded a bin liner full of paper today with new super dooper shredder. Now got 5 bin bags of stuff for a dump run on Monday.
I guess my wl goal is to lose 4lbs again as per before xmas:rolleyes:I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
