  • Awww Raphael - we've never met but your wedding looks amazing, glad it all went so well and congratulations to you both xx

I had a bizarre day yesterday which impacted on my eating big time. Out of nowhere I got an interview for a dream job with a very big company for an eye-watering salary which I had 24 hours to prepare for  It was supposed to be a one hour "informal chat" with the hiring manager who happened to be in my area yesterday afternoon, which turned into a 2.5 hour full blown interview, going through my cv line by line, testing me on my industry knowledge etc etc. Good job I dressed the part and had some time to do some research yesterday morning. I think it went well, but as soon as I got home I had to go straight back out again to take DD to training, so it was about 10pm by the time I was on my own and had time to think/react. I felt utterly drained and freaked out but at the same time completely phsyched so I opened a bottle of wine and sent a couple of glasses down with some crisps!!

What is this psycological (sp?) connection with food? Why is it at times of stress or emotional upheaval we reach for those quick fixes? My head was telling me to make myself something hot, nutritious and filling but my phsyche went straight for the wine rack. I'm not too sure what I was trying to achieve as 2 hours later I was lying in bed wide awake and reliving the interview over and over again!!!

  • Great to hear from you raph - you (stilll) look fantastic and you both look really happy. I absolutely love the flowers! Perfect.
Was that your local resister office just off the seafront? I got goose bumps looking at the background, becasue if it is, that area was a very signicifant part of my childhood. Good memories.
Have a great time in New York:T

Doing quite well on my reigning in on some of my eating habits. Not had any bread and keeping the carbs a little lower and not tucking into loads of sweet stuff, but having a little so not feeling deprived. Buying one banana at a time at the mo - by a bunch and I eat them in 2 days.

Some good support here today on cravings:T. Don't despair - just keep climbing back on the wagon. How about sugar free jelly as a substitute to sate the sweet cravings?

    Have fun tonight kpc:D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • To be honest I'm not really too keen on jelly, and when I get the sweet cravings its for milky things like chcocolate, ice cream, and cake! Hopefully the craving will stay away for a while now! Thanks for the advice anyway :)

hezza maybe the lack of time to prepare did you a favour because then you did not turn into a nervous wreck, going over, rehearsing, these things are sent to try us and you did not have so much time to react that I am guessing you did a sterling interview, came across fantastic (no sweaty palms) and it was the way it was supposed to be, see now you have had the time to think you have crumbled but not then;)
Food and emotions uhm very close connection there always has been the wine you need to calm down the food to make you feel calmer:D
I hope you get the job.:D

Talking about jobs my boss rang me out of the blue for more hours next week, I said yes immediately, no idea what hours or when but I just instantly said yes, more money or should I say another £5 an hour will do us no harm :D

  • I'm so depressed at the moment. I'm posting as an AE as I couldn't cope with anyone I know seeing this post. I've put on so much weight in the last year and now I must be over 16 stones. At the start of the year we were trying for another baby and then in March my hubbie said he didn't want another one. To spite him I wouldn't have sex with him and started eating crap and now it never happens at all. We haven't done it in nearly 7 months now. I know I have put on a lot of weight and now I struggle to put on trainers and my work shirts don't tie at the front but is disguised by a cardigan. I was never like this before. I so need some affection from him but don't have the courage to ask in case he asks me to leave. I need to lose weight for myself and for my daughter.

Hi guys, just quickly checking in with the hope that it inspires me to keep cutting down on the portion sizes as I've been eating lots of the wrong things again (but no pastilles in bed :o).

Needtoloseweight, I seem to be first one here since you posted, so welcome to the 'losers group' as I like to call it. I piled on weight since quitting smoking and giving up an active lifestyle. I now NEED to lose it as it's starting to affect my already dodgey legs, never mind affect a dodgey relationship, so I'd say the health & fitness issues should be made your priority. Your OH situation is a completely different kettle of fish and, as a divorcee, I'm not qualified to comment on such issues :o, although you could always try waiting until he's asleep and then helping yourself to a snuggle, in the meantime. :D

My portion control has become more a case of trying to control how many portions of far too many different foods I eat - sampling batch cooking, sampling baking, finishing stuff off so it doesn't get wasted - you know the scenario. I've managed to stay away from chocolate but I did scoff 2 slices of chocolate fondant covered sponge and someone's given me mini marshmallows so I'm now thinking about hot chocolate! Had a long think about things...

I've decided that it's simple lunacy, as in something affected by lunar activity, so I looked out last night to see what stage the moon was at - it's kind of croissant shaped, so that must mean it makes us eat more carbs. Half moon = half portions, full moon = round, eat fruit and lay off the fatty stuff. There, analysis complete, I'm settling for the lunar diet. Haven't lost anything so far this week but haven't gained anything, so it has to be good. We have to laugh, it's good for us.

Confession time again - had 2 mugs of tea and a carrot & walnut muffin for early breakfast! Now going to make porridge (just a small portion, though. :o)

PS - I WILL lose weight, I WILL lose weight, I WILL lose weight.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
