needtoloseweight you've come to the right place - we're all shapes and sizes - and many of us don't post how much we weigh because we're embarrassed (including me:o) - we only post how much we've lost and how we getting on.

Everyone's very supportive here - some have a little to lose - others are in for the long haul.

The weekly chart is completed on Wednesday evening so post your loss, gain or sts (stay the same) in big bold colourful letters/numbers (I do the chart late so my poor eyes are tired :p and I miss things).

    Hi Needto!

You've made a very positive decision to come and join us here. There are people who have tried all sorts of different ways to lose weight successfully and for all sorts of reasons, many with other issues to deal with at the same time. So congratulate yourself for finding us!

Many of us are still struggling, falling off the path and climbing back on. I'm not sure about the phases of the moon :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:but who knows ......

You seem to have a lot to deal with. Just try to make a little change to begin with, maybe avoiding a particular food that you really know isn't a good one for you or maybe setting a limit to the time that you eat or maybe using a smaller plate to fool yourself. But don't do them all at once. Be kind to yourself.

Lots of people on here are much cleverer than me and will be along to give you advice I'm sure. Hugs.

Grannynise I'm not sure about the phases of the moon either but it sounds such fun that I want to believe it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Apart from that, my version of a diet (eat everything in sight but in MUCH smaller quantities and nothing between the hours of 9pm and 7am) is laughed at by anyone I tell it to when they see WHAT I eat so the lunar diet sounds quite technical and realistic to them. :o It isn't working as quickly as I'd like, so I may need to pull back the curfew to 8pm.

I realise I am at risk of stating the downright obvious but all diets, however convoluted or bizarre, work (if they work) due to one basic principle: the energy consumed is less than the energy expended. It's a two sided equation. The only difference between diets is how the two sides of the equation are managed.

It is possible for one person to eat many more calories than someone else and lose weight while the person eating fewer calories gains weight. It depends upon the number of calories expended.

The more activity you do, the more you can eat without gaining weight. The less activity you do, the fewer calories you can consume without gaining weight. It's that simple.

Any diet that is followed, Atkins, Lunar, The Jump Up And Down On A Trampoline While Eating Diet (okay, I made that last one up - but hey, I could be on to something) relies on the person consuming fewer calories than they expend.

Hi Need To. Sounds like you are in a pretty miserable place at the mo. Well done for taking that difficult step of joining us and declaring you need to do something. As granny suggests - start with something small that feels do able.
Really sorry to hear about the impass with your DH. I am absolutely no relationship expert and know how scary it is to start talking with OH's about difficult things. But perhaps he is too is feeling unloved and unwanted, and maybe from his perspective he didn't feel quite ready for another baby, or had fears around losing his job and how would he keep the roof over your heads and he feel punished and that you thought his feelings awere less important than yours? If it was you who started the no sex rule as a punishment, I would think it posible he is too scared to make the 1st move becasue you will reject him? That's just as hard for a man as a woman.
I really hope you can work this out. But please stick with us and try and post often to feel part of ur lovely group and get maximum support as you tackle the weight. You can lose it and you will feel better. Look at post one for some links to inspiring pics.

Nyk - love the loony tunes theory. I don't think it works in an urban setting - too much light polution:rotfl:. Does howling at the full moon burn more calories do you think?
And you have done really well with weight loss so far and it is never a straight path, we all have ups and downs.
I think I am doing quite well this week on eating well but cutting out excessive unessary calories. Still the scales will tell the truth next week (same bit of floor every time for me:D)
Great to hear you have been offered a few more hrs Voctory - hope the essential knowledge bit is going ok.

No worries melissa - was just an idea that works for some (actually don't at it myself, lol)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Hi Guys. Can anyone join the table thingy? I'm currently at 12 stone 4 pounds and want to get to 11 stone 7 pounds as a first target. Not really bothered when as long as I get there.

Good luck to everyone with their goals!

  • Great to hear from you raph - you (stilll) look fantastic and you both look really happy. I absolutely love the flowers! Perfect.
Was that your local resister office just off the seafront? I got goose bumps looking at the background, becasue if it is, that area was a very signicifant part of my childhood. Good memories.
Have a great time in New York:T

I was so excited when the flowers arrived, they were beautiful.
Yes that was our local registry office, we were hoping to get some photos up on the Hoe, but it started raining during the ceremony.

We're taking a coach to London tomorrow, staying overnight then flying in the morning. Can't wait!! :)
