Hiya all, hope you all had a fab weekend.
It was my brother's bday on Sat so there was loads of food, cake, the works...and I did indulge seriously..however the damage may not be as bad as I had 'saved' up my treats/snacks from in the week...and I will go to the gym today to work some of it off...although I would probably have to work out for 3 hours straight to break even   ! Anyway I will be extra good this week :A as I have to fit into a dress that is too tight for me by next week friday!
Some of my family that I haven't seen for awhile, said that I looked like I lost weight and that I was starting to look old . Apparently it is showing in my face, I tried to explain that since this year I have only actually lost about 5.5lbs and that I put back on 2lb and have STS since, they didn't believe me...maybe I am losing inches then and not weight?? so I will measure myself. They got me quite sad actually because I come from a big boned family and its like they were saying that I was going over the top...I am not even making extreme changes..so I guess I will have to get used to people telling me that I am fine the way I am (which is true, I am fine, but I am not happy and I want to be healthier and fitter and not be overweight) so I don't know why it offends people...
Sorry to rant...take care all....
Its good to eat at different times and different amounts, helps to keep the body "on its toes" helps to stop the body going into starvation mode, I normally eat 30% more on Sundays and Wednesdays.
And it could well be that your toning up and getting thinner but staying the same weight.
Its also important to be happy in your self and ignore what others say, and don't stick rigidly to the weight guides they can be very inaccurate for some people, especially if your working out a reasonable amount.
I wonder if you can get Hydrostatic Weighing on the NHS?
you might want to consider some body fat scales, more accurate than just weighing
heres an example

hmm there's a new version of the above coming out the 501 and its £100 so this could be a bargain whilst stocks last0 -
vanya, I do medieval re-enactment and need a new dress this year. It's not the prettiest - just a plain 4 panelled long dress that laces at the front but it's in a lovely dark green wool. It should go nicely under my dove grey overkirtle. Trouble is, my friend also wears the same colour combination which gives OH a massive excuse to 'sex pest' her. I need to cut the fabric this week and get it pinned - hopefully the linen thread i've ordered from the states will arrive by the end of the week as I need it for easter - 4 days at Warwick Castle woohoo!! and without the extra layer of wool i will likely be very cold. Actually that reminds me . . i tradeda pair of shoes for a hood which should be ready for Easter so i should be toastie warm! If anyone lives in the area, it really is a great day out - Warwick castle is rather expensive in the normal run of things, but I like to think that whilst we're all there it's a bit better value.0

Hi everyone , had a really bad morning today cos I went to the lady I do ironing for. Ive been going there for 2 years and use the same iron, and iron the same clothes week in, week out without a problem.
BUT, today the iron slightly burnt her blouse as soon as it touched it  .
I checked the temprature and it was on medium where
it normally is , and should be.
I said I would buy her the same blouse , as its still in the catologue after a year. And she has lost alot of weight ,so could do with the next size down. But she was still so angry with me and gave me a hard time.
So I come home and order the blouse for her and it cost me £23.49 with delivery. I just dont understand why It happened, but found the iron was totally clogged up with scale and managed to get a lot of brown gunk out of it. Feel like jacking it in. And my mother in law is having tests today cos she is having breathing trouble where her heart is poorly. Also my friend is so poorly after her chemo treatment but managed to contact me today, shes such a fighter.
sorry for the moan everyone but its been a stressfull week.
On a happier note ...
I didnt eat any crap when I got home :A.
And my Harcombe diet book has turned up.Kindness costs nothing0 -
QT , I cant beleive your family said that to you , omg thats a terrible thing to say . As long as you feel good in yourself thats all that matters. Do you think they were a bit green eyed about it ?
Mazza , hope your migraines gone now and you feel better. Do you know what triggers them ? With me its several things.
Hezza , glad the cauliflower mash was nice, I am thinking of doing mixed carrot and swede mash tonight.
Eric, you have done so well , will you be posting your weight loss on wednesday ?Kindness costs nothing0 -
mirry life like that is what gets in the way of all of us being thin so well done in not eating for comfort, how old is the iron? Surely you are not wholely responsible? At the least she could maybe take half of the cost because it was her iron but yes you were responsible for the ironing of it so seems reasonable to share half of the blame?0

Omg Victory, you are right.
These sort of things are probally why I am overweight,
I am too sensitive for my own good. I actually cried when I got home.
What annoys me was when I started working there, she always told me to have it on medium , so when I reminded her of that today she said
" I dont remember saying that". So I do feel she is partly to blame ,
the Iron is quiet old.
I feel like Im a failure when things like this happen - which is an awful way to think because I am just human. So maybe I can learn from this , cos what I would normally do is comfort eat in this situation.Kindness costs nothing0 -
Victory have I read your signature right ?
you have lost 7 stone ? :TKindness costs nothing0 -
Hezzawithkids Hope your MIL is getting out today. It's always a good sign when they start complaining about the food.
KPC what's your medieval dress like (pics?)
Vixstar your weekend sounds just perfect to me. What kind of crafting do you do?
alliwantistosave - Good luck with your walking boots. My blister socks were a bit expensive but were worth every penny, I havent' had one blister since.
Eric if you think how they make sugar is bad check out how they make vegetable oil (although olive oil is different and that's why it's good for you)
mazza I hope you got your picture problem sorted and kicked your so-called friend somewhere painful with your snow-chain boots.0 -

ahhhhh!
Vegetable oil is by chemical extraction, using solvent extracts, which produces higher yields and is quicker and less expensive. The most common solvent is petroleum-derived hexane. This technique is used for most of the "newer" industrial oils such as soybean and corn oils.
Hexan - In the industry, hexanes are used in the formulation of glues for shoes, leather products, and roofing. They are also used to extract cooking oils from seeds, for cleansing and degreasing all sorts of items, and in textile manufacturing.
glad i dont eat that crap either :mad:0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone...you are all so great. I feel better knowing I am not the only one in this situation.
LL- I know what you mean, I will ignore the negative comments, keep up your hard work, you have been doing so well, so don't give up.
I don't think my fam are being envious or green eyed, I just think they are so used to me being big, they sternly warned me not to lose anymore.
Eric- those scales look cool (hopefully they will still be on offer when I get paid)...apparently there is one right where I work so I will try those out, I think my body fat is about 36% if I am right??
Anyway my fam will be shocked when they see me again in May as I would have lost even more weight...yay!0
