afternoon all! hope your weekends are going well! I got myself measured up to make a new medieval dress over the next couple of weeks - my pattern wasn't spectacularly differnet on this time last year which is some consolation i suppose.0

honours degree so really dont want to "go down" to something that I know friends are doing who never even got A levels, would really make me feel like ive wasted 5 years (a levels and a degree) of my life and got in a whole load of debt only to be doing what people who have been doing supermarket jobs since school are doing.
I know that sounds very horrible, and no offence to anyone working in a supermarket a jobs a job and at this rate that will be me in a few months, but I have made life choices and put in a whole lot of work to get my degree in this subject because its what i want to do. Doesnt seem fair that I should now have to do the same course as people I know who have worked minimum wage since 16 and got drunk every night on their wages
I know what you are saying because i am in that situation now! Im not as clever as you are, but im realising that if i were a bit wiser a bit younger i would never have bothered with my degree because its got me no where and i doubt it even will in all honesty. My degree wasnt geared to a specific route such as teaching which i suppose makes it worse but i would have been better off financially if i had left school at 18, or even just with my HND. I think i would have been happier too.0 -
I wonder if shock absorber do swimsuits? They would be good probably if they did.0

Mirry: Okay so Phase 2 of the Harcombe Diet has 3 basic rules, based on how your digestive system reacts to different types of food (bit complicated, youll need to read the books to get the full gen!):-
1. Don't eat carbs & fats in the same meal
2. Don't eat processed foods
3. Don't eat the foods that cause your cravings *
* you find this our by gradually introducing the "trigger" foods back into your diet then seeing if you get a reaction. E.g. if you suspect that wheat is your problem, then try eating a very small portion of wholewheat (e.g. shreddies) and see if you get a reaction (the symptoms are described in the books) then you need to cut it out altogether or cutting it right back.
Eat 3 good meals a day, as much as you want to feel full and try to avoid snacking. You stay on Phase 2 for as long as you like, i.e. until you reach your goal weight.£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

Really need to start having more productive weekends I seem to spend them recently curled up on the sofa crafting, even though I have DIY and studying to do as a bare minimum.
Have been much better with my food this weekend and been avoiding caffeine. Not sure if avoiding caffeine will do much for me and will not carry on into next week.
Right going to get on with my crafting because if I finish something off at least I'll feel like I've achieved something!0 -
Vix - but you are being productive by doing your crafting!! A real waste of a weekend would be to lie on the sofa doing nothing (fat chance around here!). I'm currently (a) searching the web for a UK camping holiday for the summer (b) making a wholemeal loaf in my bread-maker and (c) designing & printing my DS's birthday invites for him to give out at school tomorrow (or I would be if I could get off MSE!). Long live multi tasking!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

thanks for that Hezza , I was discussing it with my hubby today and think I might try and carry on with phase 1 for a while longer , I can see Ive lost weight already. Do you think you loose it quicker on phase 1 ?Kindness costs nothing0

Mirry - I'm no expert, sorry! Phase 1 is quite tough but I suppose you can carry on so long as you feel okay with it and you dont feel deprived. The only problem may be the lack of variety, Phase 2 is designed to get you onto the "enjoyable" bit which makes the diet sustainable in the long run. So glad you are getting on okay!
I'm going to try making cauliflower mash tonight!! (just for me tho' to replace my roast potatoes, I can imagine the faces around the table if I served it up for everyone!)£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
