granny - im working for a month in july and then hopefully travel around uganda, tanzania and zanzibar fo maybe just over 3 weeks after (or atleast thats the plan!) ive done the whoel travelling thing in hot climate before, but when i started out there i was 18st (!!!!!) and although i loved evey second of it, it would be nice to be a bit more comfortable. hence the weight loss.
    xx

    Sounds like a fantastic experience.

Beanie- you're right - not long until I retire from the current job, but my plans have changed a bit. I'm going to be working 2.5 days a week in my school and a linked school supporting the relatively inexperienced acting heads of both schools as an 'executive head' - whatever that means. So the anticipated leisure time won't be quite as much as I'd planned.

Dmv - I didn't mean to suggest that you needed to take up an NVQ and I totally agree with the frustration of knowing that you've studied for years and achieved well but that it still doesn't guarantee the next steps that you want. I just wondered if, if you're planning to work as a TA anyway, you might as well do an NVQ at the same time. The courses my TAs have done seem really interesting and cover things that I don't know enough about! Maybe when I'm really retired .......

  • dmv - I am stamping foot at the unfairness of it on your behalf. I feel you have shown that extra level of determination with other things to over come.

Beanie - couldn't we just have the crips, sausage rolls and chocolate fondu anyway? We just don't have to bother with the 'happy retirement' cake bit yet...
Mirry - those 4 days have gone quickly! Hope this proves to be the right answer for you.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Thank you :D, Its like an experiment for me, because I am on 3 types of pills that cause weight gain.
I tried going to slimming world and gained weight every week I was there, yet knew I was following it ok cos I have done it years ago successfully.

I then tried other diets but couldnt loose anything.
So this feels like my last chance , I will weigh myself wednesday
    and post here any results.

I have just taken a look at your weight loss
what a inspiration you are to me :T , we really can do this !
    Kindness costs nothing :)

Hi Eric , well I would certainly buy your book :rotfl:.

I agree with everything you say , its amazing how filling this food is
I cant finish my meals now and dont snack , dont miss sugar at all
and cant believe it. Last night my daughter had a bowl of sweets and I found myself reaching for one and suddenly thought
"what are you doing", managed to stop myself yet cant understand why I did that, cos I really didnt want it.
    It must be habit ?

Read this article today and found it interesting .....

Have you read about the French Quandary?

The only problem is when you on a weight reduction program you would have to count the red wine as calories / points / syns

but once your on goal, "im drinking to keep healthy" :)

oh and btw its also in blackcurrant, good old ribena light :p

I am not allowed red wine
I suffer with migraine associated vertigo and thats one of my triggers :(.

Is it the red grapes that provide the protection ?
    Kindness costs nothing :)
  • Eric - eveything you say makes absolute sense - you've obviously made quite a study of this over the years; once you take a closer look at all those WW etc ready meals and see how loaded they are with god-knows-what processed and refined rubbish, you wonder how they ever got past the Food Standards Agency. I too found that once I'd cut them all out of my diet all my cravings just went. I read somewhere that if white sugar was invented today it would never be approved - it has precisely zero nutritional value whatsoever.

Mirry - fantastic that people are already noticing the difference! where did you order your books from? I got mine from Amazon and they arrived within a couple of days. I'll do a separate post ref Phase 2 but you can always stay on Phase 1 for a few more days so long as you are comfortable doing so - there's no rule that says you have to come off after 5 days, its just the recommended minimum time.

Victory - are you using Harcombe too??

6 hour round trip to see MIL yesterday - thanks to all for the good wishes, it means a lot. She was looking quite perky and with-it, and feeling very frustrated cos she felt well enough to be at home and not in hospital, and complaining about the food! :D She has to stay until Monday to get some blood test results back, then they may keep her in anyway as she's due for a double chemo session on Tuesday, but knowing her she'll be the boss of what happens next! :D I'm sure there's more going on than she's letting on, she's such a trooper. We both felt better for having seen her for ourselves, I'm hoping that the events of last week were just a hiccup on the road to recovery, but its going to be a much longer haul than any of us realised.

On the journey home we stopped off at a pub for an early dinner, and I fell off the wagon again in spectacular style with chicken and chips and 2 glasess of white wine - Zoe Harcombe would be disgusted with me . I consoled myself with the thought that apart from a breakfast of yoghurt that was all I ate yesterday, but I shan't be getting on the scales until Wednesday now, just in case.....

Granny - I didnt think you were suggesting i had to do anything, just giving advice from your experience. Hope my post didnt come across as stroppy at you - was just stroppy at the whole situation lol!

Food today has so far been corn flakes (cold not hot like normal cuz my microwave set on fire yesterday?!) and thats it so far as ill and not long been up. Not sure about food later, should be very low cal soup but may be veg cous cous instead as something a bit more chewy and substantial as well as tempting lol. Dinner, no idea if im in or out yet, depends on how much work i can get done. If I do enough it will be cinema and either eat before or be a bit naughty and eat out, and if i dont it will be healthy food in and more work!
