well weigh in this morning was on target, not as good as last week but acceptable.

Think I have just about got my balance right now as last night for the first time i felt a bit light headed so i shall up my intake a tad.

Hit two milestone markers this week as well, I have lost 30% of this years target (198.4 lbs in 12 months, at that point I will get my BMI calculated correctly by one of them machines so i know an accurate target goal (at 25 I was 18 stone with 12% body fat, im 6' 2" btw and look like shrek :p)) and for the first time in about 5 years my weight starts with a new number but I still cant face up to writing this down :(

In another 29lbs I will drop down into the next weight category, not many people would be getting excited about achieving just morbidly obese :rotfl:still better than super super morbidly obese which is where i started .... Im an idiot, why do we do these things to ourselves ....

Well the cauliflower mash last night was a triumph! (now there's a sentence I never thought I'd say!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:). I cooked it until it was really soft then mashed it up with butter, black pepper and ground nutmeg, a perfect complement to my "fat" dinner of rast chicken & veggies. Both kids loved it though OH avoided (no surprise there, I'd have fallen off my chair if he had even tasted it, strictly a peas, beans & carrots man!). Thanks Mirry!!

None of my business whatsoever and please ignore if you so choose but I honestly think phase 1 is just a quick get into the black dress for the party next weekend kind of thing, it is an emergency way the celebs do, it is not long term, not realistic way to eat, it will all come back with a vengence and more if you don't learn to eat a healthy balanced everything included way of life, sure it works, it is proven, I have done it, many times loose 5lb in 5 days, detox this, detox that, only drink water, only have raw foods, just eat veg, all the fads are great, they work, they do but not for life just for when you are on them, they don't provide all the nutrients, vitamins, minerals you need to sustain a healthy energetic happy life without boredom, restrictions, montony and having to give in and go crazy for food because it is so hard to stick to.

Victory - you are entitled to your opinion!! :D Phase 1 of Harcombe is only called "detox" cos its designed to cut out processed & refined food completely, effectively making you go cold turkey, in order to find out what, if any, food types you are intolerant of and to kill off your cravings. You can eat loads of fresh, natural foods and have all the completely healthy, nutritionally balanced meals you want, so IMHO its not the same thing at all that you have described, though I can see why the word "detox" has such associations. Its also designed to capitalise on the early stages of a diet when people are most motivated and want to see immediate results, i.e. the first week. It is recommended to only follow it for 5 days cos you should move onto more enjoyable things in order to make the diet sustainable ongoing.

OMG it sounds like I work for them but I dont honest! I'm just completely sold on the idea cos it seems to work for me where other "diets" have failed. I have a fairly compulsive nature so when I've had to counts points (like WW) etc I find myself becoming comletely obsessed with food and it distracts me from everything else. Plus once I get back to "normal" eating the weight just piles back on again.

"detox" is a word often used incorrectly, which is why I use in " " as well, all these so called detox liquids etc dont, there just more snake oil, they body naturally detoxs itself unless you have organ problems. Looks like I use the word in the same way that the H diet does, which is in fact to break addictive links, which is a good thing in my book. It would be interesting to read more on how they work out if you have any intolerances, but im not buying the book :p

As you rightly say its about finding what works for you :jim an anal person so logging every little detail on my computer program helps keep me focused, my other half would jump of a bridge if she had to do that :)

And as you point out just about ALL diets fail because we go back to our old ways, when what we need is a 3 phase system, 1) getting to the happy mental state you need to start and sustain weight lose, 2) the weight lose phase with which ever system works for you, 3) the maintenance phase which involves eating more than phase 2 but still requires exercise, healthy eating (with the occasional treat, once a week not once a day :p ) and weight monitoring, and unfortunately for those of us who are susceptible to weight gain this will last forever.

Hiya all, hope you all had a fab weekend.

It was my brother's bday on Sat so there was loads of food, cake, the works...and I did indulge seriously..however the damage may not be as bad as I had 'saved' up my treats/snacks from in the week...and I will go to the gym today to work some of it off...although I would probably have to work out for 3 hours straight to break even   ! Anyway I will be extra good this week :A as I have to fit into a dress that is too tight for me by next week friday! :o

Some of my family that I haven't seen for awhile, said that I looked like I lost weight and that I was starting to look old . Apparently it is showing in my face, I tried to explain that since this year I have only actually lost about 5.5lbs and that I put back on 2lb and have STS since, they didn't believe me...maybe I am losing inches then and not weight?? so I will measure myself. They got me quite sad actually because I come from a big boned family and its like they were saying that I was going over the top...I am not even making extreme changes..so I guess I will have to get used to people telling me that I am fine the way I am (which is true, I am fine, but I am not happy and I want to be healthier and fitter and not be overweight) so I don't know why it offends people...

    Sorry to rant...take care all....

Hi QT - I know exactly how you feel as my family did the same to me when I'd lost weight and was in the 'normal' band instead of being overweight. I'm also big-boned, or large framed, and I've had a weight problem all my life, so family are accustomed to how I am, and they're used to it, so they don't think I need to change. From my point of view, I've spent my life envying people who are naturally slim and can eat what they like and I've always wanted to be slim, so it's really demotivating to be told I look old and haggard when I manage it! I'm back to being overweight again, but when I look at pictures of myself when I was slim, I really can't see what they mean - I think I looked great, and I certainly felt great, I was happier about my appearance, more confident, and I want to be like that again. I'll just have to ignore any negative comments, and just put it down to envy.

    Hola

Lovely weekend here, although quite windy - fortunately we're in South East Spain and not North West, as there were severe storms up there, we only got the tail end of it. I had my Mum on the phone late last night because she'd seen Spain on the news and there were caravans being washed or blown away so she was in a panic in case it was us.

I'm not happy with my weight loss this month - last month was great, but I think it was helped by the fact that I didn't drink any alcohol for 2 weeks. I've drank loads this weekend, as we had lots of social things going on during the day and at night and it would be churlish not to join in! Poor excuse I know, but wine is so cheap here, it's hard to resist. I'm going to have a few days off this week.

I was planning to go to the gym and have a swim this morning, but there's a power cut, so it's closed. Hopefully the power will be back on later.

Hope everyone's doing well - have a good week.

    LL :)

    p.s. Happy St David's Day!

Less than successful weekend here and has been very stressful.

A supposed friend of mine put the picture of me in my wee black dress on a disreputable site. And have spent the whole weekend with the stress of trying to get it removed and see who was responsible. For those of you who know me will know that I don't even have those pics on my facebook lol

So have had a terrible migraine all weekend. So have been grazing constantly. And the worse bit was, my blood sugar was low throughout, no matter how much i munched it just wouldn't raise. Probably what was giving me the headache. Guess I was burning it off with stress before it could raise it.

Still got a headache today and have just had a full breakfast, naughty but was most definitely needed. Onwards and upwards eh

I get that also or got that, I did look a bit gaunt and old in the face, it was the slack skin I guess but having put on a bit more it is not so bad now, people can be strange about weight loss and are very direct, I have noticed that but at the end of the day it is down to you, how you feel inside, outside, how healthy you are, where you want to be at and what makes you happy not them, they can comment sure but you have to live with yourself and whatever works for you is what is best:D

I also got from my work colleagues bizzarly comments that I looked better larger than I do now:rotfl:amazing:rotfl:
