Morning:D lovely and sunny here not saying it is warm but the sun streaming through the window is lovely:D

OH has decided to travel on his motorbike across europe this summer, he is like a little kid all excited that xmas is coming:rotfl:we have maps of spain all over the place with little bits of paper marking the hair pin bend roads, places of interest, he def wants to go to the pyrenees, dunkirk etc, he is very excited, how he is going to pay for it is another matter but he says he will sell bike bits on ebay, get bonuses from work etc put it all into an account and save that way, he has many websites he goes on that gives hints and tips of what to pack, what to wear, he was going to go across to santander but it £406 return the cheapest  so maybe not, we as usual are going on the plane and if he gets time he will meet us there in my mums town in Spain for a few days then go off again, perfect, he finally gets to realise a dream of his:D

Change one thing slowly at a time, there is no point going all guns ho joining gyms that you don't want to be in, eating foods you don't like, restrictions make you feel resentful, one thing at a time, walk everywhere if that is possible, get out and about with the kids down the park and have a game of frisbee, exercise does not have to be so ardous you refuse to do it because you dislike it, walk up and down the stairs start off with a goal say 10 then move up the next day or week to 20 times and so on, cut down the portion sizes, get rid of all the foods that made you bigger and concentrate on the food that will make you smaller, choose a diet WW or SW or atkins or the bikini diet or any one off the internet or if not just cut down and out the fat, chocs, sweets etc.
Be kind to yourself, making one small adjustment is the road to success, battering yourself down with how much you have to do and you have to do it NOW will only make you like you said reach for the fridge:D

    Morning all!

Congrats on the losses & STS - and hope anyone who's gained considered it worth it ;).
planning to join gym next week with hubby, but i hate the gym.

Hi Spongebob welcome to the thread! My suggestion would be that if you hate the gym then DON'T join (at least not yet!) If you want to exercise, I'd suggest working on making it an established part of your routine 2-3 times per week before making any financial commitment. How about one wii fit session, one exercise bike session and one long walk each week, taken at the same time you would plan to go to the gym, if you were a member?

Do you have a pay as you go gym near you, or any friends who are members that may have guest passes from time to time? Or can you use Nectar vouchers for day passes? How about making a commitment to go to the gym once or twice a month to start with, and review the situation in a few months?

Once you are sure you can always make the time for exercise, and you start to feel fitter and more motivated, perhaps then consider joining the gym - though if you still 'hate' it, have a think about alternatives too. There are so many ways to be active other than going to a gym! :D

Hi everyone, on Monday as i was stood in the shower i admitted to myself that i must lose weight before i go too far....i am 5ft8 and weight 12 and a half stone....i know thats not extreme but when i weighed 11 stone a couple of years ago i felt alot happier with myself.....so it is my third day on slimfast and ryvita (luckily i love these anyway).....every monday i will get weighed in the bathroom and report back to yourselves. The plan is to get back into all my size 12 clothes and weigh 11 stone by the end of may.....good luck to everyone and hopefully we can support each other. :)

current weight week one - 81kg
    target weight - 68kg
  • Posting a 0.4lb loss this week.
Not great but a loss is a loss I guess. Puts me closer to my goal and I'm officially the lightest I've been for about 8 years now :j

Congrats to all losers and STSers.

Eric a 2.6lb loss is brilliant! You don't want to lose more than 2lb a week ideally. A 1-2lb loss weekly is easier to keep off in the long run.
I've been losing small bits each week for almost 2 years now and haven't gained back any of it. So it's deffo the way to go.

For a normaly obese person maybe but not for me, when your maintenance intake is 4500 cals a day you should be able to drop 4-6 a week, people with gastric reduction can loose 6-10 a week at this stage,

True and I can see why you'd be disappointed. However 2.6lb is still a great loss and don't forget that sometimes your body just needs a break. Perhaps you'll get a good loss next week to make up for it. Keep going, you're doing awesome so far. :D
