I keep trying different things, sticking to 1200 cals, celebrity slim but I can't seem to keep anything going!
Hi Lisaberry welcome to the thread!
You say you've tried lots of different things since September, is that right? How long (approx) do you stick at them before deciding it's not working and what happens after you've tried them, do you tend to move straight to the next approach or have a break?
From what you've said about surviving on black coffee, 1200 cal, celeb slim etc, I'm wondering if a gentler longer-term approach might help?
As a bit of an example I maintained my weight on 1200 cal/day for at least half a year, didn't lose anything, but after sorting out my metabolism I found I could lose weight on 1700/day.
I don't know if this is what's happening to you but if your body gets used to restricted calories, then when you do start eating a little more you could see immediate weight gains, therefore undoing your hard work and making progress slow.
If you don't think it's that then let us know what causes you to struggle etc, there is bound to be someone here that can relate!
p.s. You didn't say whether you're breastfeeding your baby, I only mention that because it might make a difference to some of the suggestions you get0 -
Hi all,
Hope you all had a great weekend, I didn't do much, it was nice to get some much needed rest!!
I am happy to say that I lost 2lb this week, which will cancel out the gain last week!
Welcome to all the newbies...
Lisaberry- I am not an expert but I know that it is not good to eliminate a total food group out of your diet…we should reduce the amount of fats and sugars as increased amounts of these foods are bad for our health.
I would say that you should plan your meals in advance, to make sure you are getting a balanced meal that is sustainable, it is protein and carbs that make you feel full! Also eat regularly and not too big in portion size. I am not sure what your weight is now but 1200 cals seems like too little to start off with.
Also add moderate exercise to your day at least 5 times a week- this can be brisk walking, swimming, housework etc
You can do it, but imo restricting yourself of food groups does not last in the long run. I think you can probably make your target if you aim at losing 1-2lbs a week!
All the best J0 -

Also because there energy dense you don't need to eat much to get a lot of calories, if you need some oil go for olive oil or olive oil light for cooking, Mediterranean people "drink" the stuff and have a higher than avg life expectancy.
There's also research that shows a high fat high sugar diet changes brain activity, the brain patterns become similar to a heroin addicts which can lead to addictive behaviour (ie cravings and you scoff more).
The research that debunked the Atkins diet actually found that protein is an appetite suppressant so eating lean meat helps curb hunger pains. You don't have to eat just chicken and fish, lean beef and pork only have a few more calories than chicken if ALL the fat is removed, so rump steaks (not marbled) and bacon medallions (ASDA and Waitrose sell these) are perfectly fine (grill or griddle with no oil), rib eye steaks are out due to there heavy fat marbling.0 -
Just a bit of an update. Since my 9am weigh in on Friday - 4 days - I have lost 10 lbs. So I now weigh 19 stone 4lbs. I guess a lot of this must have been water?? - because I've heard that is what you tend to lose at the beginning. Friday I had about 1200 kcals, Saturday 1500kcals, Sunday 1500kcals, Monday 2000 kcals.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

Morning  Been a lurker for a while but I'm taking the plunge and would like to join in with this thread if that's ok. I usually post on the weight-loss thread on the OS board which is fab, but recently I've been falling off the wagon more than ever and figured that the more weight-loss threads I can get involved in, the better!
I'm 24yrs old with about a stone to lose (my BMI is currently at the top of the 'healthy' range but I'm definitely carrying more padding than required!). I'm currently training to run my first half-marathon but I'm definitely not one of those naturally athlectic types - quite the opposite infact. I think I've got the exercise side of things sorted, but it's my rather large appetite that seems to be causing me problemsTo say I have a bit of a sweet-tooth is an understatement!
Anyways, looking forward to posting here and sharing advice etc :j0 -

gratz
I have seen that binge eaters can have up to 40lbs (at super super morbildy obese) of poo in there system, I often wondered if the initial weight loss was down to shifting this excess, Not sure if its water as I have always drunk 3L of fluid a day and never noticed myself peeing more after starting to diet.0 -

Hey chick, this will be water, but don't panic, it won't go back on, unless obviously you overeat.
Most people tend to have a massive weight loss, especially if they are a few stone overweight.
Carry on eating healthy, however don't expect to lose this every week, aim for a more healthy loss of 2lb-3lb
Keep it up, Keep motivated :jTurn £100.00 into £1000.00
