Thank you for the lovely welcomes :)
I started preparing for SW start next tuesday by clearing out the cupboards and printing off their week sample plan, looks tasty!

Out of interest, what does it mean ' to be pinked'?
    :)

Some of us have asked to have our losses reset to zero for the New Year, Fred said they'd put the name of anyone who'd asked for this in pink on the chart. So 'to be pinked' is to have your weight loss total zeroed.

Hopefully someone else will rexplain this in English.

some docs recommend a few days off with extra cals to kick it back up others more exercise

Well I think christmas and the resulting weeks has tried the up the cals bit! I know my exercise has gone down and my food, although not bad, is not as strict as it was. One of the reasons is when i was cooking for me and my ex I would always do proper meals, granted he would have more food and bad stuff but i was still spending the time in the kitchen so made an effort for myself, now im more likely to do fish fingers etc. I will get back into it im sure, if i can kick the bad snacks that have started sneaking in then I will be happy enough for now. Ive already got back to healthier breakfasts and lunches...so then can get back into making the effort of healtheir home cooked meals and freezing the extra for quick HM ready meals.

All sounds so simple typing it....the reality however!

dmv is it worth having a furtle about in the freezer section and find ing some healthy things that are quick and zappable? or for heaqlthy recipes have a look on the recipe section on the first page of this thread - there's some cracking dishes on there. SLow cookers are good too - minimal effort, can eat it whenever you eant and you can portion up the rest for the freezer.

Morning:D I have woken up shattered:rotfl: might have to have a siesta later on, it is old age catching up with me:rotfl: had a fab day at work yesterday, a nice boss makes all the difference eh?:D

I have made my mind up that the next eat day for me will be Valentines day it is a sunday and can enjoy it all day with OH, so focusing on loosing the 6lb from now until then it has to go because missy you are so right, I have lost 4lb out of the 10lb but I feel so much better not such a pouchy stomach, more energetic because of the good foods rather than the lethargic xmas foods, you are what you eat and now I eat well I feel fab:D

Hello all, the rain has arrived here, and I couldn't be happier! Rain means melting snow and ice, which means I can start to look beyond the threshold of the door again. I've even seen that the forecast is threatening us with about 7*C soon, which means I can get on my bike again. I suffer with the awful feeling in my throat/lungs too, and a scarf around my mouth and nose just doesn't stay put, and eventually gets soggy.

Victory - the treats in the house are homemade, so it's flapjack & cupcakes here at the mo. The boys have just started to have pack-ups again, so it's having to prepare those, as well as main meals. I have been insisting they all have a piece of fruit each day, which the younger 2 love, but the older 2 find harder to do. I cut up a fresh pineapple yesterday, and I don't usually like it if it's in a recipe or tinned, but this was lovely and soft like eating an orange. They're often on offer for £1. Part of the issue for me is making the right choice for meals, so I'll have toast instead of porridge for breakfast. That dreaded bread yet again. I stick to a food curfew still regardless, so after 6.30pm I don't ever eat. I don't allow one bad food choice lead to another if at all possible. I also know that more physical activity will lead to more calorie burning, and it will get easier.

I have decided that this year I will try new foods, especially if they're a healthier option. Yesterday I rediscovered fresh pineapple again after 30+ years of having eaten it and been violently ill. Yesterday I also tried falafel for the first time, and it was yummy. I really enjoyed it, and thought it tasted a bit like the old version of a MacDonald's veggie burger, so presumably the seasoning is similar to that. At only 28 cals per falafel ball they make a low cal option.

I do find that by doing more home baking, it keeps me busy, and I don't feel like eating as much. It must be because you're surrounded by the smell of food all the time.

Off to do some housework now and work up a sweat doing that. Have a great day all.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Eurgh the rain has started here too. Feel like i've spent an extra 1000 calories just trying to stay on my feet today. Will be so glad when it's all gone.

Afternoon all, I hope you are all doing well.

I don't know if you have seen it (or if it has been discussed) but there are a load of gym deals on the MSE page- http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-gym-membership

I am particularly interested in the British Military Fitness who are offering 2 weeks free at the moment, there is one near me, so I might give it ago next week, its supposed to be like army training .

Anywhoo I went to see my nurse on Monday as I have been feeling reaaaaaaally tired lately, finding it almost impossible to wake up and get up my bed in the mornings, she did a blood test and it turns out that I have a really low iron count, the doctor said this explains why I have been feeling tired, so she said I need to eat high in iron foods, like red meat. But I dunno if it is good for me to be eating a lot of red meat as people are always saying its bad for you and it probably has a lot of fat, I usually eat red meat once a week if that- maybe beef, lamb or goat.

So my question is can I just eat loads of veg instead and keep eating red meat once or twice a week, or should I eat it alot more seeing as I have low iron

    Thanks :j

Me too, i eat the sainsburys low fat hummus every day on crackers, it threw me last time I bought it because the packaging had changed:rotfl: ran out in the last couple of days and feel like my right arm has been cut off:rotfl: I like to have coleslaw as well and grilled tomatoes, gherkins, pickled onions, sliced beetroot although OH prefers fresh and sauerkraut, filling but hardly any cals, those jars are always in my fridge, even the little one goes and helps himself to some of it the eldest thinks it is poison:rotfl:

Aldi is where I go for the fruit can't believe the prices they charge in the leading supermarkets versus what Aldi charges for exactly the same thing, the 3 peppers were 59 p go to Tesco and one is over £1, we went last week pears for 39p, kiwis which the little ones loves 39p,bananas, apples ,avocados, coconuts, pineapples ,we came away with masses of veg and fruit and it came to £35 as well as their salmon etc such a great shop, I know MOrrisons do the 30p veg sometimes so go there as it is much closer but still think it is worthwhile the trip to Aldi:D
