Victory thanks for the pep talk - that's just what I needed. You have a great way of putting things in perspective.
Mazza - new bloke - did I miss some posts. How did it go last night?0 -
I missed that Mazza had a new fella too Peppop. Sooooo, how did it go? Tell us a bit more about him, how did you meet, what's he like? Did you flash him your new tattoo?
Thanks for the chart fred.
Victory - such wise words, from someone who's not only been there, but is still living it. Charlie's rule of thumb was if it was 3% fat or under he ate it, if not, it was a no-go. He tried to stick to around 10g of fat per day when being really regimented. He was disapointed with anything less than 6lb per week loss too! He walked everywhere, and still does. He went from a literal couch potato, ordering in food, to running a marathon in 2 years.
I've not been able to get into the Biggest Loser programmes, because they work on a competition basis. I struggle with that concept, dunno why because I have quite a competitive nature.
I've been left home alone today, and am having such a dreadful time keeping away from food. I've been wanting to have some quiet time alone at home, but it's a case of be careful what you wish for. It's put me far too close to temptation, and have already eaten toast for breakfast, and I've had some biscuits.
Going to have a healthier lunch and dinner to compensate. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Yes he did sary less than 3% but at first it was 5 then 4 and his doc of this morning show recommended he did 3% and he stuck to it religiously and I can still remember the very first walk he took with the doc, down the road and back, he vowed never to do it again and the doc despaired of him but he made progress slow but sure he went forward and went off to australia somewhere he thought he would never go to let alone out of his front door:D
I love walking I do it all the time and it is great.
Lorraine Kelly show had to switch off because she was trying to persuade the 33 stone mum to go for a walk and she kept using excuse after excuse one of them being she had to stay behind to plan the evenings tv listings watching:rolleyes: LK asked the mum if she was going to be able to stick to the eating plan and she says I am not fussy what I eat and LK replies that has been the problem:rolleyes: LK is despairing of the family, they have all the docs, nutritionalists everything money can buy to help them all free and still they bulk, I would have given everything I had to be so supported by the right people/tools/diet plans/exercise machines that they have at their disposal.
As for biggest looser love it, competition is good, it keeps focused, motivated, determined , my eldest is so competitive it is hilarious, I am not so much but I like to think I can beat someone if my mind is set:D
The food don't buy it in, temptation gone, in this weather who wants to go out and make a concerted effort to buy biscuits? Not me, I know you have kids I do too, the kids go without so deprived they are:rotfl::rotfl:obviously the eldest buys it himself for lunch break if he wants or when he goes out with his mates, when he goes to the cineam etc the youngest has them with his pocket money on a saturday or if he goes round a friends house or a party so they don't really not have it or go without it is just not readily easily accesible in this house, they have many cakes and flapjacks and muffins etc made by me that they love and take to school etc so no they don't suffer just not prepared to buy in loads of crisps sweets biscuits etc and have them sit around the house scoffing away infront of me and they had so much at xmas they are pleased in a way they have a break from it:D:D0 -
i have to not have it in the house too, otherwise it's gone. Also weanng my self of thinking that i can snack on unlimited qtys of smash and ham. Not now i've stopped sw I can't! The plan is no limit to fruit and veg ( excl juice, only 1 glass aday) and sensible with everything else. So last night when oh had a box of cormflkae crispies, i had 1 for about every 3 he had. i'm hoping all my baby steps will add up!0

Hi everyone.
A friend was meant to be making either a stew or a chilli yesterday and bringing it round...turned out she got carried away working and bought a chinese instead! So yes was very nice but i couldnt help but inwardly groan a bit. Im with everyone on the slump time of year, and yet I joined this time last year and was very motivated!
Healthier dinner tonight of roasted vegetable cous cous and a few king prawns which i will season with garlic and chilli....very yummy and healthy. On the my big fat diet show they were all suprised that cous cous wasnt lower in calories but i find its very filling and you dont need as much of it as pasta etc which compensates. Plus its low in fat and I have it as the bulk of my meal with just a scattering of meat or fish...guess if you were having that amount as a side dish it would be a different story.
VICTORY - your post was just what i needed aswell, very inspirational so thank you. I know at times like this im in a slump and not loosing, but if i didnt stick around this thread then the extra treats would slip in and then it would all go to pot, at least staying here keeps things in perspective a bit until I have the extra motivation to push on a bit more.
Right Im off to walk my pooch. Found ive been doing that less aswell lately. Such horrible weather that I just want to get home as quick as possible, plus there never seems to be anyone out to talk to. In nicer weather big groups of us would bump into each other and end up walking and talking for hours, every lap i went to go off I would see someone else and think "just one more lap" till I was dead on my feet and the dog would literally lay down in a puddle and give up! So today have arranged to walk with a friend I havent seen for a while so we can have a good catch up and I will stay out walking longer, just hope the weather holds up.
Have a good one all!0 -
