Missy wil provide pep talks (please) and Darth Vadar masks, and that'll help too! Missy, as always awe and respect to you for your achievements. How do you stay so focused all the time?

It's what Victory said towards the end of her post... health reasons, mainly. That's what motivates me the most. I've been losing members of my family who are only in their mid-60's :( and it's because of unhealthy living. I don't want to end up in and out of hospital with one thing after another, or being a burden on relatives, when I feel much of it is preventable by looking after myself as best I can.

Secondary to that but also very important to me, is how different and how much better I feel being fitter and a smaller size. Watching what I eat is a teeny tiny price to pay for all the things I've been doing since I lost weight, which I wouldn't have done before! :D

I've got to dash now but if I think of anything else to add I'll post it up later!

Congrats on losses/STSs this week by the way, and best of luck to anyone climbing back on the wagon! :D
  • Hi everyone I joined in a little the begining of 2009 but a shoulder injury and lack of motivation means I stopped exercising and watching what I ate :(

Anyway 1yr on I am another stone heavier than I was and really unfit that I need to do something about it before I end up doing something I regret.
I am hoping with watching what rubbish I put in and increasing my exercise I can slowly start to reach my 56lb goal I have set myself for 2010. :o I just hope with some support and a friendly ear I can start to turn myself around and try to fufill my new years resolution.

    Any advice would be welcomed

lol - I say new guy in loosest sense of the word. Nothing serious. Dinner last night had to be cancelled tho, his heating pump broke muahahaha, now he knows how i've felt the twice mine went. We'll see how the weekend goes. Which was actually quite nice as i've had an enormous cluster of cold sores erupted on my top lip. Used a wee bit of Zovirax, and it seems I'm allergic. Spent the night looking like donald duck, my top lip was swollen so much.

I would wear that darth mask missy, one thing i hate about exercising in the cold is the throat/lung thing!

Talking of exercise, i was thinking of going to a korfball class which is a mix of basketball handball and netball i think. Teams of 4 men and 4 women (thought it would be good socially if matt and i went) but its tonight and im too chicken to go on my own! So maybe next week.

VICTORY - your post was just what i needed aswell, very inspirational so thank you. I know at times like this im in a slump and not loosing, but if i didnt stick around this thread then the extra treats would slip in and then it would all go to pot, at least staying here keeps things in perspective a bit until I have the extra motivation to push on a bit more.
If you mean you are plateauing which I did and is so infuriating you want to scream I was told it is to do with metabolism rates and the metabolism needs to be boosted up, sort of kick started again, some docs recommend a few days off with extra cals to kick it back up others more exercise, others increase slightly the cals but don't up the cals so it is all mixed, I ate more and strangely enough it worked and got me off some weeks of just plateau and nothing, the extra exercise helped also, I think most people even on the biggest loser have a week or three where nothing happens but it sorts itself out in the end, something about the body being used to not having as much as it did and conserving energy for the future:rolleyes::D

Have a rotten evening for food - just seem determined to empty all the packets of food. Never mind - slightly better weekend planned foodwise but also a birthday party to go to and I must remember to sign up for a Body Pump class on Monday.
