    Afternoon all,

I hope we are all resisting the bad stuff and doing well today.

Thanks Missy I didn't think of skipping, I have a rope that I have never used..will have to go in the back garden though as the ceiling is way too low, also I will do steps on my steps!

Welcome to Minxz and Olliegami, all the best in your endeavours to lose weight, we are all here to support each other.

And finally well done to everyone on the weight losses...very impressive Fi!!

I am a STS as I only weighed myself on yesterday, so I will weigh in properly for next week's chart!

    Hola

Hi all, hope everyone is well and coping in the arctic conditions we keep hearing about. It's been colder than normal here too, so I guess we're getting the tail end of it over here - not complaining though, I know we're very lucky not to be suffering.

We're doing well with our plan to eat less and exercise more - we bought a season ticket to the indoor swimming pool (the outdoor one closed at the end of October and we haven't had a swim since then) and we've been cycling, playing golf and doing keep fit. We're also not drinking - I'm in the middle of a 2 week course of anti-biotics that make you violently ill if you drink any alcohol  and DH has been off it to support me. It's been easier than I thought it would be and nice to know we're not alcoholics!

Superman (DH) has had a very good week and lost 3.75 lbs, and I've lost 2.25 lbs, so DH is in the lead in the contest so far. It's not just the 2 of us though - there are about 20 people who have all paid €5, the winner will get 70%, the person in 2nd place will get 20% and the third place will get 10% of the total prize fund. Wish us luck - I don't mind if DH wins it, as long as one of us does!

Good luck to everyone this week, and well done Fi - I think the SOTW might be in the bag ;).

    See you again soon.

My plan to go and buy healthy snack stuff yesterday failed as I was freezing cold so couldn't face the snow and desperately wanted a warm meal.
Off to try again this evening and determined not to get sidetracked.

Granny sorry you're having such a hassle :( Really can't understand those who still call in if they've had a text message from the school

This time last year I remember you were so ultra motivated with weight loss, any idea why it's different this year...? :)

BB lilacked me last year! I think I'd better ask Fred to pink me and see if it makes a difference :rotfl:the problem is that although I'm just above the healthy range for BMI (well I was before Christmas) I'm so thrilled to be 'normal' that I think I can take my eye of the ball. Still gettting lots of compliments and, tho' that's good for the ego, it makes me think I don't need to bother but I know I do.
Granny - made a white sauce for fish pie last week and decided to try the yogurt and egg you descibed - do I still need to add flour?
No, just plain LF yogurt and egg. THe proportions don't seem to be all that important, but you will need to put it inthe oven (or if it's a very thin layer under the griill works too). A bit of mustard powder makes it taste cheesier. [STRIKE]Or even a little bit of actual very strong cheese [/STRIKE] obviously NOT any cheese at all cos cheese is baaaaaad.

Granny my motivation has flown south for the winter maybe yours and mazzas has joined it. ;)

Maybe flying south would be a good idea for all of us - a week in the sun ... mmmm ....

First time I've used this multiquote thing :o--- it's clever isn't it!

Raph - great to hear from you. You know you now how to shift it, just difficult to get the exercise in this weather isn't it, dispite havinga dog to walk.

That's the problem  I've been itching to get out there & get running but the weather is so bad here with ice & snow that I've only managed 2 runs since the new year.
The cold isn't a problem (I heat up quite quickly) but the cold air rushing down my throat has me coughing for hours afterwards, and I have a sore throat now
I've signed myself up for the Plymouth Half Marathon again this year, so the motivation isn't a problem :) it's the blinkin' weather!

  • Hello Olliegami and Minxz :hello:

I lost over 3 stone using Rosemary Conley (with no exercise) - I started exercising after I lost the weight. This wasn't intentional - it was just the way I did it. When I was carrying the excess weight I did have some 'issues' with my knees giving out on me on a couple of occasions - they are now fighting fit and never give me any problems.

Exercise obviously speeds up the weight loss, but if you are happy to lose 1-2lb per week you could start the exercise after you are a stone or two lighter.

    good luck FFM :)

Any ideas for excercise with arthritic type knees?!

Hi Minxz welcome to the thread! Is it worth asking your GP before thinking about embarking on any exercise? I'm always a bit wary to suggest anything when there are medical considerations :)

I don't think our ceilings are high, about standard I'd say... it's probably OK for me because I'm short :p

Raph have you seen those "coldmask" things you can wear which warm up your breath as you inhale? I've only seen Norwegians wearing them mind you, and they look a bit like darth vadar.... :p
