  • morning all! Forgot that I had to sort out lunch for a visiting customer so my healthy rice lunch was replaced by a sandwich! Still I restrained myself with the goodies and just had 1 chocolate crispy and 1 spring roll so thats still a result. I'm trying to take it really slowly and jut make little choices that are better. I weighed in for hte the first time today so I'll have a result next week. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

    welcome back QT!!

Well done Mazza, Victory and wow! Fi. Have you eaten anything this past week? :D

It's a miserable STS for me this week. I think my portion control hasn't been very controlled. I've also had more bread based meals than I should, but sometimes I have to do a 'needs must' at the mo, as money is extremely tight with OH out of work.

I will be much happier, as others have said, if the weather would improve and I could get outside more. OH asked if I wanted to go for a bike ride yesterday, but the cold wind on my face sets off my neuralgia, so it's a no win there right now.

OH and I are off out today, as he needs to get some new clothes and has sold some bits on ebay in order to do so. He was after getting something like a KFC for lunch, but I've insisted we take our own out with us. It's not exactly a low fat option for me though, as I found a cheese salad baguette for 15p last night on the bargain hunt at my local Co-Op, and a peach yogurt for 10p. Hey, we left the four fruit scones for 10p behind, so it wasn't all bad.

I'll be stocking up on frozen food today in Farmfoods, so will plan meals with a healthy slant on them. The chicken is very cheap at £3.95 for a kilo of chicken breasts.

I'm really enjoying the Big Fat Diet Show on Channel 4, and am glad that they are exposing the 'diet' foods as being packed with sugar, and often higher in calories. I noticed that when I started calorie counting, and realised it's often better to try to make your own versions at home. It is a bit time consuming, but you get to consume more!

I spent an afternoon baking yesterday, and made some American style cupcakes for the children. They have a dollop of frosting on top, so not my kind of thing as too sweet, so I won't be tempted by them. The flapjack on the other hand....

BB - I totally agree we should go back to our old style of calendar. This time of year is too dark, too cold, and too blimmin hard to focus on weightloss.

Granny - if you find your motivation, you'll probably come across mine lurking behind it. Give it a good talking to, and send it back to me will you?

QT - welcome back, and it sounds like you definitely have the motivation to make this work for you.

Vix - the right job for you will come up eventually. I left college with a job already lined up, and it was working for a very high profile company, and had great prospects. I've never been so unhappy in a work place, and it turned into a complete nightmare. It really demoralised me, and my abilities too, and set me back in my career for a few years. I'd say you'd be far better to choose the right job for you, rather than just any job. At least you have an income to back you up whilst you wait for the right one. Stick with it, and know that you are way ahead of so many people with your qualification, and your experience of working. If you ever feel fed up, close your eyes and take yourself back to your graduation day, and all the positive feelings you had then. Focus on that, and the sense of achievement for your hard work, and possibilities for the future.

Right, gotta go get some breakfast before we go out.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

Stuck to my weight watchers points religiously! Clearly I've eaten significantly less than I did over the festive period (to be fair that wasn't hard)!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Rant warning Feel free to skip the next bit.
Bl00dy snow is back. As a result I rushed out his morning to be at school even earlier than usual to answer phone calls (e.g. yes I did get the text messge but I just wanted to check ... / my husband got the message but he didn't tell me... / oh my child doesn't go to your school .... :confused:/ oh I switch my phone off in the night ...) and then rearrange staffing.
    Rant over

So I forgot to weigh in this morning. Please Fred put me down for STS which really it won't be and I'll send proper figures for next week's chart.

Sary --- the motivation might be under all the snow - I'll look when it melts.

My current issue is the problem of exercise, with it being so cold, I can't face too much walking. jogging etc, so I might invest in a cheap DVD work out (although I never can get through the first stage of my Pump it Up one) can anyone suggest a cheap and cheerful workout DVD that can get my pulse racing.?

I really feel the cold but I still prefer to go out & about for my exercise, need to wrap up for walking but with jogging I soon warm up! If I'm stuck at home for childcare reasons, I've been doing fast stepping with a 10" step or rope skipping for at least 30 continuous mins each. These get my heart rate up to just over 60% max (similar to a snow hike) which isn't too bad for an indoor workout :)

Congrats on the loss! I was surprised how good snow shovelling was as exercise, I did over two hours worth last Thursday! Can't wait to get back out and clear this next lot now when it stops snowing! :D

Well done Victory and Mazza on your losses too! :T:T

Thanks BB & FFM for the supportive words re: my maintaining, much appreciated.

I'm another one who doesn't really go for the "new year, new start". For the last couple of years I've been setting my exercise targets twice a year at the start of March & October, this works well for me because I have a set for winter to keep things ticking over and a set for summer when I really go for it! :D

Granny sorry you're having such a hassle :( Really can't understand those who still call in if they've had a text message from the school

This time last year I remember you were so ultra motivated with weight loss, any idea why it's different this year...? :)
