If they only send a collector they are not legally allowed to enter your premises and do not have the power to sieze your goods.
The two are very very different and shouldn't be confused!
As for the phone calls, if you make a note of the times and days they call you can report them to the financial ombudsman for harrasment!
So as she does not own the home or any of the contents then really they will not be able to take anything is that correct?MFWB

Is the OP a she? I assumed it was a he! Ooops sorry!
I'm not totally clued up on it to be honest Em! I think if they are issued the court order/warrant they ca still sieze your goods but nothing that doesn't belong to you!0 -

I think somebody has already asked the question, and it has not been answered, what did you spend £83,000 on:eek:, you live at home with your parents, you have no property, no responsibility apart from this massive debt, so where did the money go? I can see the logic of what everyone is saying about declaring bankruptcy, which is short term fix for this kind of debt, but this will not help the underlying problems of why you amassed such debts in the first place.
Are you into gambling? were you spending and what on? Something is seriously wrong and should be confronted, no use going bankrupt now if further down the line you are in the same position again, you will have learnt nothing from the advice being given now!!
Milliondollars does have a point here.
We're not being nosey (well most of us aren't) but for example if you accured this debt through say a gambling problem or reckless spending the judge does have the power to refuse bankruptcy especially for those who show no remorse or regret for whats happened.

Bloody hell, as if it took 86 posts across 5 pages for someone to ask what it was spent on! I never asked cos I could hazard a guess, since I saw Harrods, and John Lewis etc in amongst the creditors but since the OP asked not to be judged then I never said owt. I'm not an expert but could a judge not ask where the items are you bought and make you sell them?? You would have to list them on the bankruptcy forms if they're worth owt x0

We're all with you - my two pennies worth is this, apart from all the other excellent suggestions:
Lots of prople have given fantastic advice - write a 'task' list based on this advice which will motivate you to cross things off. I would add dates to them, maybe even times too: For example:
30/05/06 - 09:00am - Call PayPlan and ask them for their full advice - they will be your main help on this issue and can tell you what the next steps are. Ask them how you can get the creditors to stop calling you and whether calling the Obundsman is the quickest way or if they have any other thoughts.
30/05/06 - 18:00pm - Talk to your parents - ask them for their support and to not judge you. Tell them you have taken steps to improve your situation and really need them to stand by you at this time.
31/05/06 - 10:00am - Speak to your local Citizens Advice Bureau, in case they have some additional helpful tips.
31/05/06 - 17:00pm - If you have an understanding boss, let them know you have some personal issues going on and that you may need time off to resolve them.
Hope this helps and please do let us know how things are going, we're all here for support and advice and to hopefully provide you with plenty of reasons to understand that this is not the end but a new start for you.

I asked on post number 34!
And the debts you mention only account for about 5% of the debt!
I'm not judging the OP but it is very important to find out what the money went on if considering bankrutpcy!0 -
What on EARTH have you spent £80k odd on?
You live with parents, no dependants etc...what have you spent it all on?
Try applying to the TV show. Bank of Mum And Dad.
To a google search for it.
Speaking of mum and dad, why are they charging you £500 a month on rent with your circumstances?0 -
I've missed a few pages here, thing is if the OP goes bankrupt she might as well pay £500 to her parents cos its either gonna go to her parents or the creditors, and her parents will probably desrve it after they've supported her.
PS. OP can you please tell us your gender? All the women are calling you 'she' and the men 'he'. lol0
