BigMumma, it's actual plain milk lollies my son wants to try... he's tried the vanilla and not so keen on that. I've told him I think they will be yucky though. Maybe I will make just one of them a plain milk one (not a whole batch) to see what he thinks.
The banana whip ones were DELICIOUS with just the whip, as were the strawberry. Haven't tried the 3p strawberry yet though
Has any one tried two-tone lollies, I was thinking of half filling the moulds and letting them semi-freeze, then filling them to the top with a different flavour! Perhaps chocolate and banana, or vanilla with anything?0 -
Can anyone recommend some good ice lolly moulds pls?
Ideally ones that unmould easily!!"Finish each day And be done with it.

Found a really nice, tasty way to make Fruit Traffic-light Ice Lollies. Did these yesterday for my kids and they loved them. It took a bit longer than expected but it was well worth the wait.:D
Step 1 Blend together 3 kiwi fruits with 150g (5oz) of creme fraiche. Take your ice lolly molds and pour the mixture into the bottom of each mould until it's approximately one third full. Place in freezer until completely frozen.
Step 2 Blend together 120ml (4oz) of fresh orange juice with a medium mango. Take the ice lollies out of the freezer and pour the mixture into the mold until two-thirds full. Place back in the freezer until fully frozen
Step 3 Blend together 120ml (4oz) of milk with 4 strawberries and half a banana. Take Ice lollies back out of the freezer and top them up with remaining strawberry mixture. Return to the freezer for a final time.
(Makes about 6-9 lollies depending on the size of the molds)0 -
My next door neighbour gave us some lollies to try that she had made last week and they were lovely!
She blended up a tin of pineapple and a tin of mandarins in her smoothie maker, added a little pineapple juice, poured into lollie molds and froze.
They were not hard like an ice lolly and very refreshing.0 -
I often do layered ice lollies, though not usually as coordinated as the traffic light ones! They sound great!
I got some blueberry drink from Aldi and put a bit in the bottom of the moulds, froze it and then added orange juice and the sticks and froze them again. The thing to remember is not to fill the mould past the level the stick reaches with the first layer, IYSWIM, otherwise it doesn't seal properly.
Other recent popular lollies have been-
pureed banana and yogurt (can add a little honey too)
orange juice with sliced strawberries
frozen smoothie (milk, banana, strawberries)
pureed yellow sticker mango and OJ
'Frogs Spawn on a stick'. Basically pureed kiwi fruit, though I added some apple juice to make it do enough lollies. The kiwi fruit rose before it froze, so it gave a layered lolly which the children thought was clever.

I've got the moulds, tho for my adult offspring they are incredibly TINY moulds, & no room to stand them in me freezer:o
Does frozen food mate with being in the dark & cold, thereby reproducing lots of loose mixed veg?:rotfl:Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

no room to stand them in me freezer:o
:rotfl:that was going to be my next question - how on earth do you fit em in a freezer when you only have 2½ drawers!!!
I've had some moulds for weeks and not used them yet. Though this week seems quite likely as it's end of the money - er month - so stocks are slightly lower - might be able to juggle things krypton factor styleeeworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I dusted off my old tupperware lolly moulds from years ago recently and have been making various lollies. Mostly just juice or squash lollies. will have to go for the fizz variety - I suspect my two would love cola lollies! Will let you know if I make them.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
