Hi everyone - hope you all had a good weekend.;)

Updated my spends from today at Asda and Sainsbury's.

Dinner tonight is Pumpkin soup, (still got about two thirds of Pumpkin left so plan to make Pumpkin Pie midweek,) Beef curry with leftover beef from last night's Roast.:D

Will need to spend more tomorrow as need some more F&V but prefer to buy it from Lidl, promise to stick to my list.

GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

  • spent £11.06 so far. Mainly fruit & veg. I spend LOADS on fruit & veg. Am doing slimming world so am eating healthily. It cost a lot though. I can understand why some people buy the offers on the snacky foods if they are on a tight budget.

Just a quick one Sashanut - my Mr T took the £5 Morrisons voucher for me - I guess it just depends on the cashier at the time?

No further spends and I think we have everything we need until the weekend - we'll see

A complete NSD today for me too - the first of the month!

  • Hi all, just on to update my sig and record my spendings so far!

Decided to include meals out this time around, went out for lunch with a friend yesterday and that was £15. Also got some snacks from the farmers market. Didnt need much in the way of a shop for this week since we had loads in the freezer and fridge needing used so spent a grand total of £4.46 in Lidl on some veg.

Going away at the weekend to a wedding in Romania so will be shopping again next monday! A very lazy egg and chips for tea tonight, I've got loads of eggs needing used by the weekend and so will be baking quiches later on tonight, hope everyone is doing well!

Can I please reduce my November budget from £96.20 to £93.80

This is due to my re-entering the workforce, meaning that after this week I can't have my GDs after school - and as such won't be providing snacks for them as I currently do 2 days a week. My elder GD (aged 6) is already having major sulks about the fact she won't be coming to Grandma's, and I only heard late this afternoon I had the job !!

The only thing I'm not sure what to do in future is to how to account for staff discounts...... Yes, discounts on my groceries, as the job is for one of the large supermarket chains :D DS has actually been in hysterics at the thought of me passing over the card to get my 10% discount off all the 19p Whoopsies I seem to get from them :rotfl:

I can think of two ways to play it.....

the first is to continue to record what I actually pay at the till after my discount, so if I bought all my food and drinks from there I'd effectively get even more for my money ;)

the second (which I think is the one I'm currently coming down in favour of) is to run my GC budget on what I'd pay if I didn't get my discount - and then moving the discount amounts into a savings account to cover 'extras' for Christmas (which could be paid for outside the GC even if they're food items). Obviously wouldn't be much in that kitty for this Christmas, so would save anything from the 7.5 weeks of this year towards Christmas 2010.

  • Had to pop to local shop £1 for 4pints of 1% fat milk, weetabix minis, spuds, bread and I was desperate for a chocolate fix so had a kit kat and a crunchie!

Luckily had put chicken and chorizo in the slow cooker so just made mash and veg and we had leftover apple crumble homemade custard and banana (my daughter after saying she didnt want any ate half of mine (typical)

Hopeing they are not coming down with a virus as they are eating us out of house and home (5 and 8) and they seem to do that before they are ill (I am so pessimistic)

The only issue I have now is I have lots of 1 -portion meals to eat up i.e a bit of lasagna, a bit of casserole. I freeze leftover mashed potatoes and pool them together but what do you do with `bits' of meals, I could take them for lunch at work just a bizarre combo of food but dont want it to go to waste ! If I freeze it I might as well chuck it out as it will never get eaten!

    Going to watch flashforward now!

CW18 - congrats on the job, I'd go for the saving option if I was strong willed but as I' not I'd do option 1 but me thinks that you are a very willfull lady so go for the saving option. I like that option but would never of thought of it.

Budgets done up to CW18 - thank you everybody
