2 chicken breast - 50p
6 cumberland sasages - 50p
250grams of mince - 50p
so will help a little. He wants me to do lots of spag bol and other things like that which he can take to work to heat in a microwave and have with some bread. All i can think of is spag bol and curry which will be ok to freeze and then take to work? any ideas would be great....
Also anyone have a nice receipy for a sauce to have with meatballs??
hope you all had a good weekend
this is the sauce that formed the basis of many meals when i was a child (my parents poorer than church mice)
2 onions
1 tlbs garlic puree
2 tins chopped toms
2 sticks celery
2 carotts (grated)
italian herb mix
odds and ends of red wine.
any old tomatoes left in the fridge.
tsp sugar, 2 of salt, 2 of pepper
fry the onions in oil with the garlic, celery and carrot.
once soft add the tomatoes, herbs and other ingredients. simmer for 30 mins. blend with hand blender.
this work well with grilled salmon or with fridge leftovers and pasta.

Hi
Can I put down for 230 for November.
Going to tally up October, I haven't had a chance this weekend so that's to do today.0 -
Hi y'all
Fairly new here and blown away by all the great advice. Been working on my SOA and reckoned I was spending around 200 - 250 on groceries. So kept all my receipts last week and the total is 368.80
Only have the Co-op and a few corner shops in my locale and I tend to go for own brands and 2 for one offers etc, so was a bit surprised. Think it's bad planning, so I've drawn up a meal plan for this week - reckon I will spend about 50 and have a few meals left over to put in the freezer.
The fact that my car is off the road at the moment should help - no 'just nipping to the shop' :rotfl:
Can you put me down for GBP 250.00?
sorry, brought computer from Dubai and it only has a $ sign!!!
Also, can you point me in the direction of some sample plans with meal/recipe ideas?
Don't want much for a newbie, eh?Nice to meet you all.

Eek, not a good weekend for us. Got an ASDA shop delivered on Friday which wound up being £80 (eeeeeek!!) - was supposed to be a couple quid less but the meats weighed a bit more than calculated as they always do. Was quite annoyed that discovered later the lunchmeat was out of date...complained to CS and they're refunding the cost, but principle is that now am going to have to go to Sbury's to replace and it costs twice as much there!
Still not sure how managed to do £80 'monthly' shop but am praying this means for sure the weekly top-ups will indeed be miniscule. We'll see!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

HI guys, I'm still planning on living out of the freezer and store cupboards in a last ditch effort to survive on my annual budget. Yesterday's mega shop amounted to £27.01 so that SHOULD keep us going for a couple of weeks. Over half of that went on UHT milk and cheese, as I got 2 full cases (24 litres) of milk for the store. Hoping to make a chicken last us 4 meals plus enough for a pot of soup, so that'll take care of the next few days.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi. I have been wondering how to do this. I don't have a car so I have Tesco deliveries but I also have a Tesco Express and a Co-op just 5 minutes away which I walk past every day! I can easily spend £10 a day on top of my main shops and this has got to stop!
I have got a Tesco delivery coming tomorrow night and I think I will get another on the 17th and then top up as little as possible from round the corner. So I can stock up on cheap basics and hopefully get any local bargains as well. Plan A!
I have not managed to do a meal plan yet but TBH I pretty well know what we eat! Oh dear - time to look at the recipes I think!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
