I've broken the news to DH and DSx2 about being back on the Grocery Challenge. DH later couldn't remember exactly how much he'd paid for the eggs and bread at the village shop but tried telling me it 'didn't count' because he spent loose change off the worktop. It's going to take a while to re-educate him!
Took one DS off to Mr S but left a couple of things which I know are cheaper elsewhere. I've had a look in the freezer too and know there are a few meals in there. Unfortunately (or fortunately perhaps) we spotted the half price toy sale so spent as much on a couple of Christmas gifts for family as I did on basic groceries. Hz soups were on offer too - which is good as DS is very fussy with his cream of tomato!
So all in all a modest start to the month's grocery spend. It's good to be back!0 -

Hi, I'm new here. Spent most of last month browsing the challenge and decided to go for it.
I'd like to start at £130 for 2 people. I live in shared house with 4 other people so cupboard and freezer space is limited. I tend to make double when I cook anything and freeze that. I try to meal plan although OH is pretty terrible with sticking to my plans and doesn't like if I tell him what to do too often!
Spent £39.85 today although about £9 of that is for a roast chicken I cooked for everyone so will get some of that back. Also making a quite expensive veg lasagne for a friend tomorrow evening but that saves on going out so it's justified!
£130 for me this month. From the 1stDecember GC £23.43/120 :T
Nationwide Overdraft £1136, Natwest Overdraft £1800(interest free), Natwest Credit Card £155/£350
Aim to clear overdrafts by Summer 2010

I do need to find somewhere to get hold of maple syrup relatively cheaply as it costs ~£4 for 250ml everywhere I have seen (I have made my own granola with pecans and maple syrup and its lush....)
Need to keep saving the pennies as we booked a London mini break and had to pay in advance for train & show tickets (for 4 of us, still its paid for now and we have that to look forward to before Xmas as a surprise for kids:j)
