November 2009 Grocery Challenge

I did the big shop for November back on Thursday 22 October. And since then I have only spent a further £5.57! So 10 days in & fully stocked up & still haven’t spent half of the budget. My spending at this point in the month hasn’t been lower than this since January, when I only had a budget of £100 for the whole month.
All to the good really, as pay this month was about £160 less than last month due to the taxman deciding I hadn’t been paying enough since April (as if!). Am OK for now & hopefully it will correct itself next month, otherwise next month will be very tight. But I am very well stocked up, so it may simply be a case of a visit over to the storecupboard challenge!0 -
HI all,
Another £5.80 to add to total (plus some more for bits that DD2 picked up for me but not sure how much it was so will have to add when I find out). And only 80p was for 'real' groceries. Free range eggs from farm on way home today. Other was £2 in Services yesterday for crisps n cr*p on way to take DD3 to a concert and then another £3 today at the ice cream van (I know I know - i'm rubbish)
Had nothing in for tea but managed to cobble together baked spuds with tinned tuna and beans. NEED to shop tomorrow - fridge and freezer both bare....

Have decided to cut my budget by just £5 this month - I don't want to tempt fate! Can you put me down for £285 please Helen?
As you can see from my signature I have already spent more than half of this with my big monthly shop at Sainsbury, but have got loads of meat so won't need to buy anymore this month. I have just under £40 per week left till the end of the month which is 26th for me (last Thursday) and should be ok.
Have done a bulk mince in the slow cooker and have bagged up 4 portions (serving 2, so 8 really) ready for the freezer, and made a tiny chicken stretch for 3 as had MIL over for supper at short notice. Still hoping to get another meal for two out of the remainder.
Good luck everyone for November. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the posts and hope everyone is ok.

Hi all, big stock-up shop at asda on Friday so cupboards are looking healthy again. Spent £81 which is over half my budget but I have enough in for main meals for at least 3 weeks, plus stocked up on cleaning stuff/toiletries for the month so shouldn't need to get much beyond f&v, milk + other fresh stuff. Went to mothers for tea yesterday and going out again today so 2 less meals I've had to make:D Cooked a chicken Friday night and have picked it apart and frozen the bits to use for a curr/risotto etc in the week, and still have the rest of it to use for soup:T
Also, asda have 5 for £10 deal on lots of different meat - got 4 packs of mince and some lamb steak/chop things (bit vague sorry!)Sept GC lost track/£160
