Thought i would rejoin this challenge and try and get spends down this month.

Can you put me down for £275, this includes cleaning, toiletries and pet food, for me and 4 kids and 5 cats.

I am hoping to use up as much out of stock cupboard and freezer as I can as I could do with the cash towards xmas. Hopefully I will be able to do some baking this month too.

Am doing a big shop at asda this week and then weekly fresh food shops at tescos.

    Hi,

Spent £53.25 in Tesco today and got most of my store cupboard sorted for the month so should just need fresh stuff weekly now. Also need to add £5 for some bits that DD2 picked up for me. Not doing too bad despite a couple of lapses.

Bought a chickn for dinner today that should stretch for another meal in the week or sandwiches and have some mince that will make bolognaise and cottage pie plus a meat pie, so that's half the week sorted. I'm defrosting the freezer so not got any more meat for the week. Think it's had it so will have to get a replacement:(, although will prob have to be secondhand.

Have baked some choc brownies today but have no eggs ( I get FR from the farm so didn't get any from Tesco) left now. Might do a rice pudding for after tea and I've got some jelly for in the week and will prob do some jam tarts or mince pies when I do pastry for my pie in the week too, so we'll live!

    Hope everyone is doing ok,

My budget this month allows an average of £3.10 a day. And within an hour of the shops opening I managed to spend £6.84

    A!di gave me
4 pts semi skimmed milk @ 99p. Could have lasted until tomorrow, but looks like being too busy a day for me to worry about getting to the shops
2 litre vanilla ice cream @ 99p. This will shut DS up - not had any in for a couple of weeks, and I "didn't have space" for any. Tidied freezers yesterday, and managed to make space ;)

    Mr M gave me
    2 bags satsumas (5 in each) @ 30p/bag
1 savoy cabbage @ 30p (but I'm only costing 7p of this from my budget, as the dog will get the rest!!!)
1kg carrots @ 30p (actually got 2, but one comes from dog food budget!)
    5 bananas @ 41p
    4 apples @ 30p
2 packs of 2 garlic baguettes @ 54p each (now in freezer - needed one pack this month, but just had space for a second to take us into December while they're at half price)

and from the Whoopsies in Mr M
200g WW low fat creme fraiche @ 44p (instead of 87p). I like this with my HM thick veg soup - of which I have 7 portions in the freezer to use up this month in an attempt to make some space
    brocolli quiche @ 94p instead of £1.88
300g tub cheese & onion sandwich filler @ 72p instead of £1.44. This is one of the things I find hard to resist (though I only even buy when in Whoopsie reduced by at least 50%), and all attempts to make at home have been pretty poor substitutions

wow ..thats loads for £6 something!!

I have a £5 off asda voucher online as they delivered err..4 hours late a few weeks ago... debating if I should use it. Minimum order £25 plus 3.50 delivery, £23.50.. bit of a whack!!

Going to try to avoid it... given myself £5 for this week, tommorow head to Morrisons and get all the reduced whoopsies :D

Helps that the f&v was all bought from offers, the garlic baguettes are on a half-price offer (until 10th - would like to make freezer space for another pack by then, as that should see us right through to the end of the year even with elder DS home on Christmas leave), and that I saved £2.09 on the Whoopsie items ;)

Wouldn't have bought the f&v without it being on offer. I normally use frozen veg (don't have enough in for the month, so having fresh cabbage & carrots today and will dice and freeze the rest of the carrots to supplement the peas and sweetcorn after I replenish supplies of those later this week). I rarely eat fruit but need to make an effort to up my intake....... and it seemed to make sense to make a start while items I will eat are on offer :)

. I will make some crab-apple jelly too. If all else fails, I can also prepare and freeze some of them, though there isn't that much room in the freezer!

Keiss,I have frozen crab-apple juice.Doesn't take up too much room and is then quite quick to make jelly(or to use as pectin)
How lovely to have chutneys for a pressie.
