Right, I'm going to try this for the first time - in fact WE are going to try it, seeing as I have just discussed the budget with DH. We are going to go for £250 and include toiletries, washing powder etc. We have a 2yo and a baby.
Excited and nervous - hold my hand!0 -

Hiya everyone, would you mind if I joined? My 'November' doesn't start til Friday (payday, 4 weekly pay) but as its gonna take me that long to look at the lovely recipes I just spotted at the top of the thread, thats not such a bad thing!:rotfl:
A brief bit of background (don't wanna send you all to sleep!) There is me, OH (who eats like a horse!) and DS (nearly 3) plus dog (who would also eat like a horse given half a chance!).
OH works on the nightshift, four nights a week, and I have *finally* got him to agree to take food to work instead of spending £5-£10 per night on 'carp from the canteen, it ain't even food' - his quote! So I'll be looking through the recipes to keep him in a variety of foods instead of just sandwiches and pasta.
I'm pretty good now at taking food to work (full time), usually left overs from previous nights dinners, or random stuff that I grab when I'm late!
DS does three full days at nursery, so only eats proper meals here four days a week. He's obsessed with fruit, which is good, and will generally eat anything (except mashed potato), and like his mummy, will take or leave meat (OH on the other hand would happily eat just meat/potatoes/bread). Charlie is on 'light' dog food as he's on a health kick, and not happy about it!
So dawns a new era in my grocery spending, I know I can cut it back... I would love to batch cook but only have a small freezer, although I am thinking about investing in a small chest freezer. I'm starting out on making cakes, simple ones to start with, and would llike to get more into baking. OH likes sausage rolls etc, so I would like to get into making things like that. I have previously thought that I didn't have the time to bake/make, but recently realised that if I'm organised, I can definately do it! I guess you could say I've had a bit of an OS lbm?!
Anyway, thats enough nonsense! My aim for this month is £400, or £100 pw
Thanks for having me
Sx

Last post of the night (secretly pleased that I topped 1000 points along the way - although I know that's still amatuer by some standards)
Managed a NSD Sunday- that's a (* fanfare *) 100% record for November - except that I started on payday which was thurday and have already spent £75 / £600I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
I will have to pop to tesco this morning as I havent quite enough fresh stuff in to last me until I go to asda on wednesday, I have had a look back at the past few months reciepts and my downfall on overspending on food is when I nip to the local co op to get a few bits and end up spending loads, it is so expensive!
Will be writing a small list of things to buy and am taking £10 cash with me.November NSD's - 70
