NSD for me as well today
Made so much soup..the freezer is packed. Soup all week for me! Planning on spending £5 tommorow getting reduced bits as the supermarket closes...other than that going to clear the cupboard and shoot for no more spending for a few weeks

Candygirl - me too re the awful rain, not venturing out at all today!
Followed my cooking plans yesterday and restocked freezer a bit.
Made 3 batches of mince
Pork & celery casserole
4 individual plum crumbles (2 for pudding today + 2 in freezer) with some left over crumble mix bagged & frozen for a later date
2 kilos of pears bought on offer preserved in sugar syrup (took ages peeling and prepping but worth it)
Also did the lemon and red berry compote recipe from Economy Gastronomy for last night's pudding. Done it before, very easy and delish.
Felt that was quite enough for one day  so today will do the baking I had planned (and clean the house !)
Have a good Sunday everyone0 -
Good morning everyone,
very wet and cold here so dinner will be comfort food. Shepherds pie served with a variety of veg (left over bits and bobs) and apple crumble for dessert.
New month, new budget. Good luck everyone. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
I would like to join in this month, not done GC for a while and have no idea how much I've been spending (though not masses I don't think!) but as I like a challenge I'm back! I can't remember how much I had got my shopping down to, and I've recently discovered that M&S reduce loads of stuff every night so I've a freezer full of stuff! So...
Mrs M please can you put me down for £150 for November? Thanks.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

My budget this month allows an average of £3.10 a day. And within an hour of the shops opening I managed to spend £6.84
A!di gave me
4 pts semi skimmed milk @ 99p. Could have lasted until tomorrow, but looks like being too busy a day for me to worry about getting to the shops
2 litre vanilla ice cream @ 99p. This will shut DS up - not had any in for a couple of weeks, and I "didn't have space" for any. Tidied freezers yesterday, and managed to make space
Mr M gave me
2 bags satsumas (5 in each) @ 30p/bag
1 savoy cabbage @ 30p (but I'm only costing 7p of this from my budget, as the dog will get the rest!!!)
1kg carrots @ 30p (actually got 2, but one comes from dog food budget!)
5 bananas @ 41p
4 apples @ 30p
2 packs of 2 garlic baguettes @ 54p each (now in freezer - needed one pack this month, but just had space for a second to take us into December while they're at half price)
and from the Whoopsies in Mr M
200g WW low fat creme fraiche @ 44p (instead of 87p). I like this with my HM thick veg soup - of which I have 7 portions in the freezer to use up this month in an attempt to make some space
brocolli quiche @ 94p instead of £1.88
300g tub cheese & onion sandwich filler @ 72p instead of £1.44. This is one of the things I find hard to resist (though I only even buy when in Whoopsie reduced by at least 50%), and all attempts to make at home have been pretty poor substitutionsCheryl0 -
Hi everyone
Went to Asda yesterday to get some bits in for Halloween party food for the kids, also stocked up on fruit and salad, bread and packed lunch items inc ham, crisps etc, spent £30:eek: of my budget! So thats it for me, going to have to stick to online ordering via Sainsburys in future, I also like to use Heron Foods for the frozen bits for the kids, as they are really cheap and they have some great bargains on tinned stuff and packed lunch stuff too, would recommend them.
I have learnt I am a total sucker for the big stores marketing ploys and I am always putting stuff in the trolley that I didn't need/want
Having a NSD today and hopefully one tommorow too;)grocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990 -
well im going for £100 this month as i will need to do a big shop for xmas'y stuff as well although im hoping to get as much of the stuff cheap so touch wood i wont come close to thisSealed pot challenger # 10
1v100 £15/3000 -
In the process of completing meal plans for at least the next 3 weeks.
I will be organizing my first (of hopefully two a month) online deliveries from Mr T later on today, for delivery tomorrow. The freezer is reasonably full, but I have made a list of the contents so I can top up with enough for the coming weeks.
Also DH and DS2 picked two big buckets of crab-apples yesterday from our one tree, so off to find out a recipe for Apple and Marrow chutney (have few football-sized round courgettes to use up!). Someone mentioned it yesterday somewhere, (can't remember which thread) but with no link. I will make some crab-apple jelly too. If all else fails, I can also prepare and freeze some of them, though there isn't that much room in the freezer!
I will be giving various jams/jellies and chutneys as Xmas pressies (do this a bit every year, but going for a variety of new recipes this time).
Off to get things done before DH and DS2 come back from DS2's rugby match this morning...at least the rain has stopped, so could get the washing out...will have to use the strong pegs today!!
Have a good day everyone.
