1) Am feeling much better today that I was yesterday!
2) Visit to Lidl resulted in some really good quality meat for the freezer at very reasonable prices, what's NOT to like?
3) He Who Knows found a £5 off deal on a courier service which we've used to send a present.
4) He Who Knows saw some 'rustic reindeer' decorations outside one of the houses up the road, took photos on his phone yesterday, came home raided the log store and kindling box, found a red bottle cap for his nose and made me one to cheer me up.....awwwwwww!
5) Am within a whisker of having lost 5kg YIPPEE!!! am finding things in my wardrobe that not only fit but in some cases flap!!!0 -
Hello lovely ladies and gentleman, just flicked through your posts and it seems the Spirit of the Season is taking hold all over the World. Well done to those of you who have shopped, wrapped, baked etc, I just have two more to buy for and typically they're the two who have everything!
1. I think my squirrel has at last got the message after the recent frosts and hibernated as he's not been seen for a few days now. He and Mr Finnegan the Cat have had fun running up and down the trees in the orchard chasing each other, Mr F can't reach him of course because he's far too heavy to climb to the top, whippy branches a squirrel can reach where he teases Mr F from above. It has been a joy to stand and watch then over the past few weeks, I was surprised they get on so well but apparently it's not particularly unusual.
2. A wee bit envious of those of you able to burn candles etc., my bellows can't cope with them but the house smells good today with bread rising, scones baking and a tray of sausage cheese rolls waiting to be cooked. Chicken for the dog in the sc and fish for the mog in the mw and satin balls waiting to be made up and frozen. An extra bonus, certainly no heating needed today
3. My 'new' position as Telephone Liaison Officer for the region is going well, takes up a lot of time but as soon as it's in order life will be easier for everyone, especially me! I thought retirement would be relaxing but I still have to set my alarm six days out of seven, however it is doing something useful that I love so certainly not a chore.
4. I've so far attended three family/friend/fellowship Christmas dinners, another two this week and a further three next - thank goodness there's a choice of dishes on the menu's! Some of the baking above is for a buffet tomorrow, this OAP definitely won't go cold and hungry in December.
5. Raking leaves, there's something very satisfying about seeing the grass covered in colour from the orchard but sadly it has to be done. It looks very bland now but grateful for small mercies I raked up a lot of moss. Next job is to load several sacks of soggy leaves and take them to the garden tip before any insects escape.
If I don't get to post before I'll wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year x0 -

A very Festive Welcome to this lovely and supportive thread, md
Great 5 and siggie, too :-)
Seeing Sparrer's post:-) Had thought about likelihood of this on inward p+r bus earlier. Glad all is going so busily well.

1. Awoke and went outside, v. mild, just after 4bells. Everything is so bright beneath full moon. Blackbird was singing! Looked for geminids, but too much light. Was spurred to do this from sthg on t'wireless.
2. Mhags' rhubarb blog, read last night. Beautiful strength and wisdom and boy Haggis, weight loss wonder:-) Umpty blessings to you all mhags.
3. 5p reverbe in town of gown, amid many bedding down on paths by 4pm.
4. Honed statement and evidence for Monday, while having free cappu+choc. orange cake from upstairs comfort of Mr J Lewis's establishment.
5. Then walked to/talked to solicitor+assistant re: x, p/w. So conscious of each countdown day now. How must x must be feeling? Maintaining contact with x's family and called into Church en route. Just needed quiet time in our ancient space again, visualising 1st sight of x there, under 4 short mths ago. Indulged self with solo singing of Adam Laye Y-bounden with no one to hear:-). Love this old Carol.
Many more 5s - unexpected re-hearings of Cabin Pressure and other goodies, just as Mornington Crescent isihacs forth. Mmm, hungry now, so brekkie next.
,....and no. 6 is & buying replacement naff birdsong clockery, entirely made in entirely naff plastickry. & is not tall, but is awkward+stubborn, so reaching up for battery replacement was 1 too many floor crashes.

mhags, will you have a chance to see the meteors & supermoon today?
You don't need to go anywhere special it seems as any urban light pollution is cancelled out by the supermoon pollution!0 -
Just got out of bed ( having just got in) to see if moon was about but too cloudy at the moment to see from our garden. Will have a look when I'm up early in morning.
A day of challenges but they are done and I've told myself tomorrow is another day.
Chat with friend from Sydney this afternoon. They are coming to visit on Thursday.
Met my 94 year old customer when I popped into cafe to grab teatowels. So lovely to see her. We were both delighted to see each other which is nice. Not so lovely to see skanky cafe and I've messaged ex boss to say this is the last load of teatowels I'm doing. Too much of a faff and too much real life going on.
Had a text from other customer who brought me magazines , so we are meeting for early catch up tomorrow .
Looking forward to cool change coming through at blooming 6am...to be 28o overnight! Was 37 o today which is just ridiculous !
Have a cooler than my Tuesday0 -
Wonderful relaxing day here !
1. I am on my own in the house for the first time ever:T:T We have lived here for 3 years and today OH is at choir, DS is at college and as DDad is now in his care home I am home alone. It feels weird but fab.
2. I have a hot coffee with caramel syrup and I am sitting on the sofa, watching the birds in the hedge.
3. I have just had a yummy Christmasy biscuit from Aldi
4. I had my first official duty as new WI president at our group carol service last night when I had to light the advent candle. I didn't drop the match or burn the church down:j
5. It is the Christmas party for the Mencap drama group that I volunteer with tonight, they are such a wonderful bunch of people, can't wait:jNow Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0 -
Shhh, we as to be a bit more frugal around the parish. Welcome there!
5 Inn early this week again. Nothing much. Good brews for the marine, hopefully he will be free by Christmas. Not like the politicians who failed the people. No one ever considers Jeddah. July 1990.
4 Not many days left until my train set comes. Cake is all iced. Nuts are in. All set now.
3 BoPsie got her words wrong tonight. She murmured that we only have three clubs left. She was meant to say, BoP, you can have a Club, orange flavour, in your pack up each day!
2 Night BoP is watching the Arsenal ...
No one ever remembers the talks in Jeddah!0
