    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) An impromptu day off work. Not really a pleasures as I was ill enough to go home, then ill enough to lie perfectly flat in bed for 7 hours, with a high temperature, feeling awful.

    3) Watched A Wonderful Life with bigger son (never seen it before).

    4) Smaller son made mince pies and fairy cakes.

    5) Feeling a bit better now.

    1. Work was ok and my back is surviving.

    2. Long chat with my parents and my Dad is doing alright. Pain free but he is being really careful with what he eats and drinks.

    3. Invited to lunch at work by a rep. Good timing as I was on my way to buy some. Also invited to early evening talk and food next year. Will go as will be a different CPD activity and free.

    4. DH collecting money for trip to Romania this weekend. Saves me a trip.

    5. Early night and reading a book.

Currently having a massive storm. Thunder , lightning, lashing rain , wind, hailstones! Son ( who cycles to and from work) was literally just in before it started.

Today has been a good day. No appointments, no need to be anywhere by a certain time.

Went to supermarket first thing. Used my saved up gift cards, so only had $20 to pay and DD2 owes me $11 of that. Also had a $20 off voucher.

Lovely summer fruit in season, peaches and nectarines, cherries and the biggest strawberries and melons. Fabulous smells.

Slow cooked steak all day and then a lovely steak pie for tea with roasted potatoes and parsnips, carrots and broccoli.

Hoovered, washed floors, cleaned bathrooms, potter, pottered. OH and girls went out mobile phone shopping, DS was at work and the first time in 3 weeks I've been on my own with the dog.

Lady I met at afternoon tea for carers a couple of months ago, called...left a voice mail....I called her back and left her a voice mail!

Girls have bought their own new phones...more money than I would ever pay but....DD1 is a saver, always has been. DD2 has worked hard past few weeks doing 2 jobs with the aim of getting her phone...she is easily swayed by clothes and makeup but has been determined this time to save enough.

After a very wet morning the sun came out for a bit this afternoon so managed to get washing out and dried. Glad it was brought in when it was ...just before thunderstorm.

    Have a great day :)

    My pleasures
With the BOP Be bopalula :p:p
    Alive and Kicking :)
    Christmas is coming :j
    Drambuie is in

Ok only four but all is good :) Thanks for the present from you know who, pm me please ;)

Watch out BOP, coming to get ya :D

Oh oh - it's all going to kick off :p:rotfl: Welcome Bopette

Morning all - pleasures since Monday

    1. Tuesday was the 7th anniversary of losing my lovely mum. The pleasure being that i coped very well and didn't dwell too much. She wouldn't have wanted that - I hear her in my head (not in a spooky way :) Saying "you've got to get on with it").
    2. DS has realised that passing your test is only the start of it and that driving alone isn't as easy as he thought. He has made a couple of mistakes - nothing drastic but enough to take some of the cockiness out of him. He has also booked a 'post test' lesson with his driving instructor :T
    3. Nice meal out with the primary school mums last night. It's been 6 years since DS was at primary school, so it's nice we all still meet. I had a beetroot and orange burger. unusual but lovely.
    4. had a bread and soup making session yesterday morning
    5. Good walk to town and back on tuesday for my contact lens appointment. I am now signed off to wear multi focal lenses. Walked in the fog, which was atmospheric.
    6. Wrapped the christmas pressies, have nearly finished buying the 'list' type stuff, leaving me free to get the things i want to get for people.

Have a great day all - I am having a chorey morning and then writing this PM.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Ooooh, the everyday story of piratical(?) folk is about to begin. I needed something to replace the Archers since its demise (imho). Hello Bopette :hello:

VJ's mum - do look into the possibility of a black box for your son's vehicle before/if/when he ever gets one. DS2 had a black box that gave him feedback about his standard of driving via a mobile app (obviously not when he was driving!). The better he drove the less likely his insurance would rise. It worked and got him through his first year of having a car on cheaper insurance and I didn't feel the need to nag :o. It also took a bit of worry away for me as well. :)

Five pleasures since the last time...

    1. We have central heating again! Lovely man fixed it this morning.

    2. The house is pretty tidy. It was made acceptably so for the above's visit.

    3. I succumbed to buying some new t-shirts to replace old ones that are now in ribbons and beyond repair and are in the bag ready to become cleaning cloths. I have few clothes and I'm very very pleased with myself for reaching the stage where things only get replaced due to being worn out.

    4. At the moment there's a vat of elderly leek and celery, last night's leftover steamed spuds and a load of fresh onions and carrots cooking on the stove to make soup and it smells divine.

    5. Was given an Xmas box of chocs as a thank you on Tuesday and have already eaten them all. I only gave three away. They were absolutely gorgeous and I'm glad I didn't leave them to go off in the next couple of weeks which would have been a tragedy. :)

Have a nice rest of Thursday,

    Bx
  • Welcome Bopette  Yo ho ho and a bottle of ... Drambuie !

Frith - Happy non-Aniversary ;) hope you are feeling better

Villagelife - hope your back pain eases soon

    Couple of pleasures

    1. Christmas tree and decs are up

    2. Christmas cards are mostly written. I usually write these in October and hand them to DP's to give out to family but as I was in hospital this year they didn't get done, so I will have to pay for postage this year !! If I get them finished this week I will be able to save some money sending them 2nd class as I have 22 to post

    3. Christmas meal with work today. We chose to go cheap this year at local pub and food was lovely - 2 courses only £9.99 and boss bought us a drink each. I was driving so had a diet coke and then we were given a free jug of tap water so didn't break the bank

    4. the weather has warmed up so the heating has been off again. I am in the process of switching gas & electric supplier and will have to pay off my bill with my old supplier in December so I'm trying to keep my bills as low as possible

    5. its Friday tomorrow
    0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

Well, after 2 weeks of feeling under the weather, then 24 hours of being really quite ill, nearly back to normal!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Got better as the day went on. I wish there was a way to go back to work once better, even if you turned up at 12 or 1 o'clock for a few hours.

    2) Booked our holiday for 2017! No overseas this time, but a trip that will hopefully suit everyone... One night in YH nearest Stonehenge (free farm park and adventure playground) and visits to Stonehenge and Avebury (free with NT) and maybe Salisbury. 3 nights in Cadgwith Cove so more NT, walk to Lizard Point, Mousehole etc then 2 very long awaited nights in the youth hostel at the Eden Project (never been) including a go on the zipwire for everyone who isn't me!!

    3) Finished writing Christmas cards. Haven't received a single one yet!

    4) Cleaned downstairs.

    5) Smaller son put the Christmas lights up at the front windows.

    6) Just been watching the cat watching Secret Lives of Cats on BBC4.

    1. Good local &istory [esp. when R was alive]. Lainey also, & is sure -

Frith devoirs: spot Nominative Determinism therein. Made me smile:-)
Further contributions welcome. Bop and bopette should have a few, altho' unsure whether Raffles has sanctioned time off for ykw lately.

    2. Happy Banking. Thanks for decent Spits day, despite Swissair event displacement and wotnot disruption. Oddly, sold 3 v.v.vg. things, which are always taken by &[hair initial mourning jewel/exceptional miniature/c.1660 gilded satsuma tile] - and to people who've seen them before, or who bought a related piece a couple of years back and have suddenly bought again. As usual, some marvellous crossings of path and conversations. Another big day done, in bed by 0130h. 23hrs is enough for one day.
Replacement card and PIN have come in 48hrs! All enlivened by S in Bank. Such a good fella.

    3. Had just ferried eth'g in pre-6 when in sirened
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgxwKEuy-pM
Off ran & to track WHO was singing 'On Dirait le Sud'......da-da-daaaaaah?
Found him, beautiful tall ebony singer/guitarist
-and Nino Ferrer died at Montcuq, not far from another of &'s vies françaises.
    Bonheur donc from outset:-)

    4. Will & chance laundry out o/n? It's blowing about so nicely. Spits vestments are always chucked off and in on autopilot - 1 bell sthg ce matin. yesnoyesno. We'll see. The luxury of Doesn't Matter choices.

    5. & self-declares a Smug Barstewardry moment. Belting down M11 it came to &, new true name for PresElect: Agent Orange. AO - no other form henceforth.
    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=agent+orange&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&ei=-TFLWLvBLsGN8QeMmJrYBw
Take your pick - all truer than true.
