Quick pleasures for today:
1) A lie in - hoorah!
2) Quick game of football with smaller son.
3) Went to see the hens. So cold down there but managed to unfreeze the tap and change their water. Also cleaned hen house out and sat in the sun in their pen so they could sit on our knees and warm their feet up. Despite cold and dark, 2 eggs today.
4) Cleaned the turtles' tank out.
5) Cleaned the bathroom.
6) Tasty cauliflower and macaroni cheese for tea, then poached pears with caramel sauce.
7) Sinter Klaas evening at my sister's house. I had smaller son as my person (it's like Secret Santa) so I wrote him a poem and made a fish tank from a shoe box with a papier mache turtle inside. His presents were 2 cuttlefish and a bag of sweetie turtles. Bigger son had my brother so he made him a wooden box containing new grinding disk. For his poem, he typed out the 12 Days of Christmas but swapped the endings of the lines for things my brother has done this year.
8) Watched the end of I'm a Celebrity.0 -
Evening all.:)
Some pleasures from the last week:
1. Remembered to order next year's house calendar - big one with lots of room for everyone's plans - and it arrived the next day. I like new calendars.
2. Lots of strange meals as I've ended up cooking for one (ie me) a lot this week so I've used the opportunity to rummage in the depths of the freezer.
3. The last episode of The Missing. Ignoring the subject matter, I really enjoyed the way the whole series was crafted together.
4. My hot water bottle.
5. I've got started with learning Welsh again on Duolingo. I'm just sticking with a little and often and I reckon some of it will sink into my memory. I knew a very little anyway so I wasn't coming at it completely cold. A few generations back some of my family only spoke Welsh.
Sweet dreams,
B x0 -
1) Good trip home yesterday, roads all clear and no hold ups.
2) Home, my home, my things and a blissfully warm room with the woodstove on mmmmmmmmmmm!
3) DD1 gave me a big suitcase full of clothes she's way too small to wear now and as she's been stable at this weight for 2 years she thought they would help me on the way down.
4) The wonders of being able to record all the Rugby matches on the TV and watch them when there's time.....last night we watched a T12 between Cardiff Blues and Ulster, VIVE LE BALLOON OVALE!!!
5) All Christmas wrapping and buying of presents done just need to finalise food lists and menu and then all is safely gathered in, fantastic!!!0 -
1. Hoped for npd has come to pass. Village bus obliged.
2. Lots of Bank sortings done in both & Banks. Big queues, then a 5p reverbe on floor of one. Put it with &'s 2 x single cents found in Paris.
3. More frolics in The Works, with usual calendars and these today[STRIKE] £7.99[/STRIKE] £5 apiece.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36369366
Jolly japes forthcoming in crimbo households.
4. Circular feng shui compass in ivory and boxwood, considerable age, ex puces de Vanves for 1€ looks v.v.v. promising. Lovely and intriguing thing - nothing quite like it here, but related:https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=lidded+feng+shui+ivory+and+boxwood+compass&client=firefox-b-ab&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjHtsaP5t3QAhXkDMAKHf1HBHoQsAQIGw&biw=1024&bih=585#tbm=isch&q=circular++feng+shui+compass
&'s has ivory inset to most of treen hinged lid, shows 2 boys flying a kite, and a butterfly. Smaller inset to base with what appears to be 4 character signature. Compass working and outer ivory wheel is exquisite and perfect.
5. New shower Yippee, works so much better than previous, installed messily as unwanted 'improvement' some years ago. No idea why it only just occurred to & at w/e to change it. All done.
5a. Fabloosey Mornington Crescent in Clue tonight. Don't miss, Frith -
