1) A seat on the train all the way to DD1s and I was lucky enough to get one of the extra leg room seats at the end of the carriage so I could keep my suitcase with me rather than put it on the luggage rack.
2) An ecstatic welcome from Pushkin cat when I got here, such a lot of purring and rubbing against my legs bless him.
3) Managing to sort out the whole house, do the ironing, make the tea and get the wood stove lit before DD came home, nice to spend time chatting over a cuppa too!
4) A text from my friend Sue who has Charlie retriever to say she had bagged us a huge amount of oak logs from a close neighbour who was taking down the top of a big old tree in his garden. He Who Knows got 2 piled high trailers full and 2 bootfulls of really good oak to chop and season for next years burning season, fantastic!
5) We're having German Grunkohl and frankfurters for our supper tonight with a chunk of rye bread, missing the German Weinachts Markts where we normally eat this so nostalgia will kick in !0 -
Thinking of you McHags.
1. Paid all the usual suspect monthly bills out.
2. Spending time learning all the quirks of our new furry friends. They are great fun, though I am also having to remember nip training rapidly.:o
3. Picked up a few Christmas bits and bobs from L1dl a box of chocy liqueurs and some other things, which also meant fresh bread for lunch sarnies.:p
4. Cleaned upstairs, the animals have all found their ways around the house now and are starting to settle. So, their bedding and our bedding all clean sets.:)
5. The Christmas decorations and the hanging half tree are down from the loft, it’s all decorated and on now. The staircase is all done and the outside of the house is also decorated. I love it I admit.:o
6. Tonight’s food a couple of sausages, egg and chips.
7. Picked up all the ingredients to make my own truffles and sweets.
8. Names have all been allocated to the new rescue 6..They are all sweets and chocolates, e.g. Chewit, which seems all to apt right now.:rotfl:0 -

Pleasures for today
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) At least that's another horrific day at work over. Was put in charge of one lesson as there were literally no members of teaching staff available - note to colleagues - I'm an archaeologist, not a teacher. :-/ Anyway, the 45 minutes in there went without a hitch. Not sure how. Then was transferred as a sort of emergency cover to maths. That did not go without a hitch. I gave as many sanctions as I could until one student crept behind me and wiped them off the white board - off he was sent. His friend decided to walk out - bye bye! By some fluke, the head then walked in and at least everyone was sitting down by then. The pleasure is that something has got to change. I am financially better off not working, than working there. Perhaps I'll get a new job next year. The weird thing is that the teacher who normally works in there is marvellous, though very cold towards me. She left saying "Sit where you like", so her usual seating plan was up in the air as they all vaulted over tables etc to sit with their friends. I can't help wondering if she was trying to set me up to fail - no work left, told they could have 10 minutes chatting... 9.5 working days to go.
3) Sons went to games night with my brother and brother in law.
4) Finished off my person's Sinter Klaas present.
5) Watched I'm a Celebrity.
6) In bed with 1 hwb and will listen to whatever the 6.30 comedy was.0 -

Thinking of you Mhags and all your family.
1. A neighbour came and asked for help and I managed to help. When she asked I was unsure whether I could manage to do what she asked. She is fairly independent and dislikes asking for help so I was pleased she was comfortable to ask.
2. When I filled my car up with petrol a mechanic from the garage noted one of my tyres needed air in. He kindly put air in all the tyres for me.
3. Planted a couple of fruit trees that DH had bought in a sale. A quince tree and a nectarine tree so hopefully they will grow as they look healthy.
4. Christmas cakes are iced. One f2f or us and a smaller one f2f or DS1.
5. Ordered a couple more presents so nearly there on the shopping.0 -
Early start today, was up as the sun was rising.
Gave my SIL a call. Had a nice chat with her.
Made a fruit platter, raspberry and white chocolate muffins and apple and cinnamon muffins. Rather tasty mince pies. Grated some orange zest and a few squeezes of Orange into the pastry . Pre cooked bacon , sliced tomatoes.
Took dog a walk via bakers shop for bread, sauntered home to find our friends had arrived about 15 minutes early! They were standing at the front door!
Had a nice breakfast . Made BLTs, had croissants and jam, muffins and I had a mince pie or 2! Nice catch up and I'm glad they made the effort to come out and see us.
They brought gifts of oatcakes and Tunnock's teacakes and wafers and a jar of rhubarb and ginger jam! ( love rhubarb and ginger jam , my granny used to make it) ....all the way from Queensland!
This has left OH utterly exhausted all day so not much else done today.
Sun was shining so washing dried. Tomorrow to be hot.
Have done my UK people Christmas shopping....flowers with discount code and loyalty points....sorted! I'd love a bouquet of flowers for my Christmas!
Almost bedtime. Have a good weekend0 -
Made a &'d last eve when interfacing with keybored. meant to say Zoo, tried to change it and ,,, The rest is just pure nonsense
5 Had a mega fest of three snorkers this very morning, and four, yes four rashers of best back. Mushrooms and grilled toms. Poached egg on hot buttered toast. Tum needed rubbing as usual.
4 And I took BoPsie out and got some cheer for Christmas, she remarked that we had the ales of wobble inn for the season. I said it will be luck if it sees the day. On the subject, again I have refused to involve myself inn the good will evening. I have had feast at Eid al Fatr, I have seen Chinese new year. I have done Diwali or what ever lights. I even was in Haradj where the police of religious enquired whether I celebrated Isaah's birth. But inn our locality, the word is erased. Correct not. How come no one complains about the word DOORMAN?
3 That has really got the BoP's goat, and I tell you I am herding them the now! On the subjects. Raffles, has been keeping BoPsie on her high heels. He is in the airer cupbored, on the furnace. And last day, on way out of our gated estate, into the splendour of our local town, that cannot celebrate Christmas, Raffles was waltzing home from the protected Great Newts of Crest pond, and he was not there to count them either! There!
2 Day BoP has readied the Sticky Chicken and the Dynamite Mushrooms. Wobbleades are ready. See above. Film night. Last night was Grand Tour again. Fire was burning. For those who have not fixed, please watch notes from BoP about fixing your gas and LaCie in the future.
He has been out since August, and yet he still comes home to be fed.
Emergency PM2Skint
If your Eon deal is valid for another six months, wait! Then watch when BoP switches in future! Got it.
I'll get me coat!0 -
Quiet day today
1 nice lie in. Fell back to sleep after waking early and slept till 10.30am
2. bacon and egg on aldee muffin for brunch
3. sunny outside and breezy. Got one load of washing line dried. Still not cold enough to put heating on this evening.
4. checked my bank account and was shocked to see my mobile phone bill was just under £30 instead of the usual £7. It seems that I went over my minutes due to using my phone so much during my stay in hospital & recovery. I must admit I hadn't checked my account online. I'm usually nowhere near using all my allowance. I phoned orange to check my tariff out of plan charges and was told its 50p a minute  ....so as I was 39 minutes over it cost me an extra £22 including vat ! The lady tried to convince me to increase my minutes (at further cost) but when I explained I usually stay within plan and it was a one off due to op she gave me £15 credit on my account so I wont pay anything for my plan for the next 2 months
5. dropped DS off about 4.30 near local bars and restaurants as he has gone out for dinner and a tipple or too, then drove back along the seafront in the early evening twilight.... was very atmospheric & could see the ships lit up at sea.
6. sneaky KFC on way homedrive-thru was broken so I was a bit miffed at having to get out of the car and go in
... however, I decided to just have a 2 piece meal for budget and belly reasons ... but when I got home they had given me 3 pieces of chickennom nom nom

Evening all, back from our open day at University of South Wales, just outside Cardiff. I don't think they could have put him off more if they tried. I thought it might be the "insurance" choice, now it isn't even going on the list. Sheffield tomorrow....
Pleasures for the last coupla three days
1. Supervisor is very pleased with me. And I have permission to moonlight
2. Got my money back from the too big trousers I had ordered, to replace the too small pair. It seems I am a classic size 13 (not really news). Resisted buying anything in the shop, despite there being a 20% off sale
3. Christmas shopping yesterday. Was very successful, I hate all this bit of Christmas. It should be banned till about the 22nd and then we should all go mad getting ready, the excitement would really build then.
4. Spent the evening making and then filling mini Christmas stockings to put vouchers in. Watched I'm a celebrity whilst doing it and the special fawlty towers (never really been an FT fan, it all being a bit silly for me but enjoyed it as a one off. A sad reason to broadcast it though)
5. Despite the less than successful outcome to our day, especially as we got up at 6, at least he knows he doesn't like it and we have had a nice day together.
6. Home, jammys, leftover takeaway curry for tea, wine opened. BlissI wanna be in the room where it happens0
