set off in good time with mr piano for funeral as he was playing the hymns. No music for 2nd hymn eek, And not one mr piano familiar with. No joy from internet. Fortunately gbf lives not far from church so I offered to run round, forgetting a) I had heels and b) mobile phone would have been easier
    1) got to house just as limos pulling away. Ran down street waving arms wildly, and limos stopped
    2) gbf laughed when he realised music still upstairs. Music safely retrieved and I got ride in limo back to church. Classy
    3) slipped in before family party to relieved mr piano. He had found a suitable tune which would have fitted the words, but hymn was gbf's cp's own choice for funeral so would have been I'm sorry I haven't a clue one song to the tune of another
    4) funeral absolutely beautiful. Mr piano very smart in his cassock. Urc minister delivered lovely eulogy as did cp's sister. A wonderful send off for a wonderful grace-filled man
    5) xoh and I took dd2 and mattress back to Edinburgh, picked up table for xoh's flat, back home, crisped flat breads with dips and now bed. Early start tomorrow, night xxxx

  • 1.We spent the weekend raising funds for our local rescue, which we did to the tune of £150, we donated all the funds raised, time and materials. And managed to get some sponsorship giving food as prizes also.

    2. We won a nice piece of artwork in a raffle.:o

    3. It made us realise the time is right to add to the clan after a couple of years of no new arrivals and rather a lot of leavers. We did it in style though. We arrived at the rescue at 1pm, with 2 ferrets in mind, I thought I bet it sneaks to 3, but 6 weaziled their way into the group and I think everyone is happy and bemused and we came back home at 10pm.:rotfl::T:rotfl:

    4. Rather overtired we have confined them all to our large cage area temporarily over night while they all recover and start to bond, they have just had chicken and flea treatments before they have been caged overnight.:)

    5. Tomorrow holds: deep cleaning, training and thoughts on names.:D Any one is welcome to pitch in, all our lives they have been chocolate themed, so many of the popular chocolate names have been used already.

Bop - is the Warster train up my way?
The Big one on Friday Nights, back from town. We get on five stops from the end and get off on the next one! It winds its way up north to Warster!

5 Now we has that sorted. Last Friday the Big Warster train was 71 minutes late, so we had to take a taxi. BoPsie has already put in a claim! See notes passim. BoP that eve had wobbleades of too plenty!

4 Now as BoP fixed his gas and electric a few weeks back until January 2019, the heating is on, full blast. Tootsies are warm. Raffles is currently is warm on top of the furnace. Keep warm. If you are reading this gathering wood, make sure you have a jacket on.

3 Just had two egg boiled salad for tea with extra cheese.

2 Nighty BoP will be kicking off his slippers, lobbing his socks at the tv and ...

Another log is burning on the fire

    2. Think I've now finished the C-word shopping.

    3. After a particularly nasty tummy bug which has kept me away from school for 2 days, I'm looking forward to going back in tomorrow :):)

    4. Monty Don (Mr Smitten Kitten) and I have been enjoying lots of banter today and I'm looking forward to a hot date on Thursday, shame me muvva likes to try and bring me down and question myself about why I'm picking him, what can he offer me, etc etc....sigh.

    5. Have booked tickets to go to the penultimate day of my local former prison which is open for tours and arty stuff! Had some pretty famous prisoners in there in its day....

    6. Looking forward to pay day in less than an hour...it's been a very expensive month somehow!

I have no idea if this link will work, but Dad of Frith can be seen in the background, left of the presenter. As he is a man wearing shades of green, I can't describe him well enough for anyone to pick him out! I imagine that we 3 sound like the mistletoe man...

Link at bottom of message as forum playing up yet again.

  • 1) Trip into the city with He Who Knows yesterday to the German Market and consumption of a real 'currywurst' was delicious.

    2) A lovely walk in the afternoon with Sue and the dogs in the sun, only time we were properly warm all day!

    3) Wrapping presents in the evening sat by the woodstove, very seasonal.

    4) The Yorkshire Vet on the television, it's one of the few programmes I actually warm to these days followed by an amazing Lives in the Wild in Mongolia which was eye opening and very inspirational.

    5) Buying a bratwurst for a homeless man in a doorway looking cold when we were eating ours. I asked him if he'd like one before just buying it and his smile in reply was like the sun coming out. At least he had something warm to eat yesterday.

Good morning it's DECEMBER already! Officially the first day of summer....sigh! Officially the start of moaning mhags season ....it's too hot! Have just had a look at forecast and I think I can cope until Sunday at least :)

First day of advent in this household. Son will be waking up to a Lego advent calendar...I'm hoping he appreciates it, which I think he will! DD1 is getting a christmas colouring book today and will get other things as we go along. DD2 has a voucher for local salon and can get what she wants done. School classes are over for her but she has a couple more days to do as a school leader next week then we can say hurrah!

Haggis had a play date yesterday with DD1 and her friend and her golden lab. Play date part was fine but Mr Haggis did not like Miss Indi getting attention from his daddy! He was very jealous and apparently very funny in his jealousy! The sprinklers had been on in the park so he was a tad wet when he came home!

Each year we are invited out with our Tasmanian friends and Queensland friends as they come down to Melbourne for their christmas get together . Usual invite came in but no way is OH fit for that. They had also suggested meeting for breakfast in the city but that's still quite a lot of effort and energy for OH to use first thing ...so yesterday I invited them to us for Saturday breakfast , OH can rest as long as he needs up until they are due to arrive and then straight away once they are gone. Our two sets of visitors on Sunday left him utterly wiped out on Monday....we need to learn from this!

In amongst the horridness of an afternoon in hospital yesterday some light moments shine through. One lovely doctor from Palliatuve Pain clinic superseded one absolute @rse of a junior doctor ( whom I hope does learn some listening skills and a bedside manner along his way) our lovely doctor had called our oncologist, who had asked her to call his registrar and ask her to see us and then report back to him. 4 hours later ..lazy registrar had sent Dr Rude who as we knew would not have a clue and he would have to reort it to senior doctor. lovely doctor had called me to see what was happening...er...nothing much! So she chased up registrar who finally came down ( meanwhile I've had to leave and walk 10 mins to carpark to pay more money then walk 10 mins back).
Lovely doctor had been told this would all be done promptly so was just as frustrated as we were. We had came in for a half hour appointment and ended up being there another blooming 4 hours. Then had to drive home in horrid nose to tail traffic.

I'd had a half prepped tea so we just ate a bit later than normal. Steak pie ( Happy St Andrews Day) .

Another kind thing was my florist sending me a voicemail and then following it up with a text! I'd popped in on Monday and asked if she could get me potted hydrangeas ...a very Christmassy thing here. I want them for my back porch. So she sourced them. I'd told her my budget and she left a message saying she would give them to me at cost price because 'we like you' .i will pick them up this morning.

Had to fight my way into the pharmacy literally! It was their Christmas party and there must have been at least 200 people ....and I think I may have been the youngest there! So I had to weave in and out of the partying mob to get to back of shop to hand in a prescription....I only want antibiotics! Said I....it's our Christmas party ...said the girl. Aaah! Really! People were wandering round with pizzas and 'healthy protein balls' truffles and eating like they hadn't been fed! I just stood and felt quite overwhelmed by my day!

I made gingerbread men yesterday morning, they are for hanging as an edible decoration garland . They each have a letter on their tummies which spells CHRISTMAS. Today is officially mince pie season. DD1 and I shall make (and eat) them today. Today shall see the start of festive decorating , we have to make the most of this Christmas , which will be our last one together.

Right , today is a new day, a new month , a new season. I need to look forward to a month of mince pies and Christmas music!
