Just waiting on 2 daughters coming downstairs so I can drop them off at a party.
Today I received some beautiful flowers. From my friend in Sydney, we had had a nice chat on phone yesterday.
Another kind friend had made an offer on FB to bring over some food and I had gracefully accepted. We are now at the stage where kind offers are being gratefully received. I'm glad I am able to recognise that the time is right...anyway had joked with friend in Sydney sending lasagne through post....so as she couldn't send food she sent flowers instead which were a lovely surprise.
Food cooking friend texted to say they will drop stuf off tomorrow. They will be most welcome after a long day at hospital.
An excited DD2 called on her way home from work. There had been a white dressing table with triple mirror on it in Savos. It had a sold sticker on past 2 weeks but they didn't know who was buying it so it went back up for sale....please could she borrow money to buy it. she has wanted one for past few years . A family affair to get it home, OH drove. DS carried it out to car. DD washed it and polished it and has since filled the drawers.
Right ..mum taxi is now required. Have a good weekend0 -
Absolutely SKINT!!!and as much mum time and help as she needs. She got very tired when Zebra was tiny and just not sleeping so I spent some time down with them and blitzed the house, did some cooking, took baby out so she could have a break etc. They'll be better this time but it will still be gruelling with a 3 year old in the mix too. My other DD and I are planning to do lots of things with Zebra that take him out of the house for the weekend and that will lessen the impact of a baby brother for him as well. Now really looking forward to my first cuddle!!!0

Where did Saturday go ? Appear to have snoozed most of the day
1. made DS a quick lunch of tuna & sweetcorn with cold pasta & mayonnaise for work packed lunch - used up the two almost empty mayo plastic squeezy bottles lurking in the fridge by cutting the tops off and scooping the remains from inside with a spoon - got 2 more tablespoons out :money:
2. looked around the net trying to find the quilt cover on DS's wish list at a lower price. Unable to find it cheaper but did find it at Argos for £14.99 which means I can use the EON £15 vouchers they sent me
3. tidied the house, cleaned the bathroom & did one load of washing
4. caught up on some recorded tv. Enjoying the new series of The Blacklist.
5. made sticky chicken instead of a takeaway - flattened a chicken breast with a rolling pin, fried & added sweet chilli sauce & coated in sesame seeds - only took 15 minutes served with 1 min microwave basmati rice (half a 45p pack from aldee) & some green beans from freezer - cost a fraction of the price of a takeaway so feeling smug :A

Good day yesterday.
1. Lit a Christmas candle - lovely smell
2. DS2 arranged a lift to pick his car up which didn't involve me. Always a good thing.
3. Tidied the house and it looks so much better.
4. Went Christmas shopping and arrived at about 6 and it was quieter than I thought it would be. Managed to get some good deals.
5. A glass of wine when we eventually arrived home.0 -
Hello, Sunday evening here , watching Crowded House who are playing live in Sydney at the moment. Great concert...saved a flight and a concert ticket by watching it from my sofa!
Today has been a pleasant day.
Friends from Bendigo visited us and we took them for lunch.
Dropped off clean teatowels and got 2 weeks pay.
Back to ours for a bit more chit chat.
Then DD2 came home from bakery with 3 loaves of bread and various doughnuts and sausage rolls, so tea was courtesy of the bakers thank you!
Nice dog walk with my boy . We were getting swooped at by a minah bird which must have had a nest nearby.
Just arriving home and toot toot! Our friends arrived with so much food. We have 2 huge lamb hotpots, there are curries and rice, bolognese sauce and pasta and soup . So kind of them. It's the kind of thing I would do for someone so it's nice to be on the receiving end. Just as well I cleaerd my freezer out ...and they've labelled the tubs so that's a bonus!
They came in for half an hour and had a cup of tea which was nice to have a wee catch up with them.
Then a good seat at the concert!
Have a good day0 -
LaineyT - oh my dear - prayers for the departed & those around them extended to include you & yard. Even through this strange cloud of electrons, he reached hearts.
ampersand - to the brat of unmarried parentage, I mutter the Inverewe Gardeners Curse, & wish you much more of Julian of Norwich "all shall be" & if you have the wind for it "the greatest honour" but I do appreciate that may be more of a push contemplating the evildoers. Bonjour France!
Mrs LW - *love* the apres-kit. Who else would remember limes? Can commend fever tree tonic if she's not got a preference - 'lish ginless wonders... All strength with all family, & can Zebra swim? If not, splendid way to wear down all that energy & useful skill that only Big Chaps are expected to have. (Leaving a jug of pancake mixture to thicken just as you set off means the apres-swim tea is much easier too.)
mhagster - I do adore how your family works *together* & am delighted there'll be a dressing table with extra happy memories. Meantime, all strength with mum taxi & the sitting up waiting!
OS Pleasures recently
My Own Bed. I'm back home, in body - my soul is till trying to catch up a bit. Can you get jet lag driving?
The temperature falling, I was encouraged to stop driving for a cup of tea. Which despite piling in milk, was too hot so I got hiccups. Sons squirm from fetching more milk & yet grouse when I inevitably hic'ed further!
Beautiful sunset at Gretna. Almost worth getting married just to have that backdrop to the photos.
I fell right off the eschewing waggon With Intent. An all you can eat breakfast, a funeral buffet, haggis galore (the foodstuff!) & I was back south of the border & back on the waggon again. Somehow clutching shortbread & fudge in tartan boxes - these service stations are ruthless places.
To be surrounded by family, some names engraved on a wall, one in a neat hole, others well-wrapped & damp eyed. I count the numbers around me & feel hugely blessed. As well as glad of three layers from ankle to collar bone.
After the social ordeal, I whisked the chaps (or did they whisk me?) off to the museum to I could see Lewis Chessmen. The display and the "hidden bishop" (same floor just away in a far corner on mitres & crooks). Splendid change of pace, (black ties off) and happy cries of "bling!" & "weapons!"...
All these weddings I read of! Wonderful happy times & usually such splendid parties. Also kilts! (Sartorially curious son was on the lookout all day in Edinburgh & not a soul wearing one. He's disappointed, wanting to see how it's done properly live... Another time, I'll take him for measuring for hire & let them show off their finest on my strapping lad. Give the Americans a treat.)
Right. More tea and more exercises to persuade my back it isn't driving any more. Lugging a bucket of rainwater to the Bramley should help. Big hugs & tender blessings to all who have need, do not skimp on the thermal layers & may your weekends go splendidly!0 -
Fever Tree Tonic is what she's asked for D FOR V and Zebra absolutely loves being in the water unfortunately he swims like a stone! but we have all the swim aids we need and will take him often. He also likes the Zoo and will happily walk all day there, likes eating out and has a passion for garlic bread and proper fish ( i.e NOT fish fingers for children)goujons and tartare sauce so easy to keep him happy!
1) He Who Knows has been on this weight loss malarkey with me and this morning.....had to tighten his belt by another hole, he's a clever boy!!!
2) Much rugby on the TV yesterday and England, Ireland and Scotland all won their matches, still have Wales South Africa to watch today but I think they won too, can only be good.
3) DDs away on sisterly pre Christmas weekend are enjoying themselves greatly, had superb afternoon cream tea yesterday, much success at the Christmas Market and are currently being pampered in the Spa, they both work hard enough to deserve this time out too.
4) Just off to a nice garden centre for coffee and to find nice Christmas Cards for family, high street seems very average this year for cards.
5) I now fit things that have been in the wardrobe so long that I'd forgotten I had them, YAY!!!0 -
Lainey, (((hugs)))
Some pleasures since last I posted:
1. Walking along a long path deep in beech leaves yesterday and doing a lot of kicking!:)
2. Driving home over the Chiltern hills into a lovely sunset.
3. A very good packed lunch yesterday - must do that particular combination more often.
4. Central heating definitely packed up. Pretty sure it's the pump. Went to bed last night very well wrapped up and with a hottie. Woke this morning after the best sleep ever.:)
5. DM's eyes still getting better and better. Cataract surgery is such a life changer.
Have happy Sundays everyone

PS. &, A wholefood shop I once frequented had a sign which said that they'd dip shop-lifters head first into the apple juice concentrate. Are there any wholefood shops who could help near your stall in Spits?0 -
Duvet testing was carried out yesterday. All was warm in the bed!
5 Big Warster train never turned up, causing BoP to sup too many Wobbleades. Hence yesterday was a washout. So be careful out there! The duvet was nice. Question. How come Raffles, who was on street patrol on FryDay, noticed the taxi BoP returned inn. Was chatting all up garden path! He was upset to be fed late yesterday morning!
4 Late up yesterday did not prevent the usual Saturday snorker fest. Best back, grilled toms, star cut. Mushrooms and tatties. Poached egg on hot buttered toast. Wolfed down with tea. Tum was rubbed.
3 Watched The Grand Tour again yesterday. And then Kung Fu Panda 2. Think BoPsie likes him. Was good, recommended to you lot. Be careful. BoPsie gets giddy with things like that.
2 Day, BoP is doing pie of fish, plaice, non Icelandic, king prawns and mushrooms in light home made parsley sauce. Topped with hot buttered mashed Spuds, cheese and tom. Served with peas and carrot swede mash. Tum will be rubbed. Raffles is going ballistic.
The last tyrant of the trinity that bought the world to the brink has passed on.0
