1) My lovely Son in Law has been offered a permanent position in the University Department he's been working for since his graduation, he's been on temporary contracts for some years, even since he got his Doctorate and has been feeling unsettled and under valued, I'm proud of him and so glad that he's now got what he wants for security, well done Neil!!!
2) A beautiful and dramatic sky this morning when I got up at 6.15, was worth being awake to see it.
3) DD1 can now play Abide with Me on her French Horn.....things progress!
4) A really low flying buzzard yesterday afternoon when I walked Cookie across our local big open space, he came from the river almost at shoulder height and gradually flew up the grassy slope and ascended to clear some trees on the boundary, he was amazing.
5) Ezra, but then he's a pleasure every single day of my life and a chat with DD2 last evening about how the love for the second child just happens which she's having small doubts about as she and Ezra are wonderfully close. It WILL happen, it always does but I remember feeling exactly the same waiting for her to arrive, she'll see won't she?0 -
Today I've been thankful for :
The rain stopping!
Clean bathrooms.
Left over macaroni shared with DD1 for lunch...tasted even better today.
Lots of kind messages and emails.
Went to DD1's shop for a few bits and pieces, potatoes priced at $4.99/kg then underneath in brackets $2.00/kg...I took a photo and got them for $2/kg!
Made a cake ...Mr Haggis was caught nibbling! Bad dog! Tasty cake though so can't blame him
Nice thanksgiving dinner of chciken, roasted potatoes, parsnips, sweet potato and pumpkin. Some broccoli and peas. Very yum . Followed by cake minus the nibbled bits.
Have a good day0 -

Quick pleasures as am tired this evening.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pleased when the working day was over. Actually cried in the car about how boring and ridiculous the day was. Which is silly, because there are worse things than boring. I also tried to put a laptop away in the steel laptop cupboard, bent over swiftly, and headbutted the cabinet top!
3) Went to see my school friend in town after work.
4) Had a cheating ready meal for my tea.
5) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.
6) Smaller son made a sponge cake.0 -

May health be restored to all in need thereof & abundant layers for all feeling the chill. About to launch on Funeral trip.
Pleasures anyway
Watching the river rippling & reflecting the streetlights - not flooded this time, just pretty.
Rewatching Harvey. Oh I do love that film - James Stewart in all his glory & his family in all their family strangeness. Why *do* we keep it just for Christmas?'
Saw a star through the window early in the morning - unexpected pleasure & useful warning to put a fleece on.
We've got to go north for the funeral, but have free access to a castle near Dumfries en route back! My lot like to scamper around castles & we know a nearby chippy for a haggis supper... (Still not got *graceful* formal black sorted, dashit.)
Gave a colleague a lift home - son observing "kidnapping again, mum?"... Ah well, colleague laughed.
The eschewing means I do not have to buy new trousers (huge relief after several profoundly unrewarding hours in assorted clothes shops) for the funeral & I have a touching faith my uncle would recognise me sooner in trousers than a skirt or frock anyway.
Finally, possible aurora tonight!
Health & strength to all0 -
DfV thinking of you on sad trip up North but hope you enjoy trip back x
Frith - you sound really fed up. Friendly pat on back coming your way (rather than an awkward hug ?) When my car comes back from garage its washed and hoovered - only time it ever gets done !
MHags - sorry to hear things not so good atm with OH pain hope they can make him more comfortable. Happy thanksgiving to you all and Mila & family x

3) Ironing sorted, done and put away.
4) DDs are off on their pre Christmas weekend away this evening and I've given them an early present in the form of a cream tea tomorrow in a really up market hotel plus some extra to buy a bottle of bubbly for DD1 and some nice fruit juice for DD2 (I'm buying her a bottle of gin, some tonic water and a bunch of limes for after baby arrives).
5) Rugby to watch on the TV tomorrow!0 -
Oh no, Cold Turkey!
5 BoPsie this day waggled her toes next to Raffles flap, while wearing her slippers. Raffles, who had just returned from fishing inn the pond of the news, great of the crest variety. Raffles, being sharp and steely eyed, ripped of her slipper, and flew through the flap with sand kill. Unfortunately, BoPsie, who does not get out much before the sun returns inn the spring, was unable to retrieve her slipper before ...
4 And tonight for T,. BoP is have the stove brewed curry of chickens pieces. Usual rules of BoP apply. Refrigerator is for the wobbleades. Tum shall be rubbed.
3 Last eve was out with the CC. The plaice actually showed that nonsense with the z list none entities, and pant and wreck. Avoid. Also the radio accidently tuned to the BBC this week, and they are still spouting carp. Last time I watched their news was 1982-05-03 21:33Z. It was a Monday. Part of the week when things became real. I still remember a colleague saying with a breathe 'There goes but one of ours' And before some on Merseyside even considered not buying a paper, no one actually bought it. You did not need to. But that over burden of tax was spouting about one incident only. In context. Again, no one stood to dance. The only thing you did was realise you are ...
Weeks later a comrade remarked that after a night shift, his younger brother was laid on Sir Galahad.
2 Look it is Fryday and that means the late Warster train later. Owls are ready with the red paint.0
