1st proper day off of work in 8 long long days!!!!
Don't have to leave the house today, no spending either
Am in my very cosy onesie, not getting dressed today. Was up every hour of the night with the cat going crazy because of the sound of the wind/rain.
Had egg and soldiers for breakfast.
Watching only fools and cooking a hot chilli con carne.
Candles are lit and the house smells lovely.
Cat is sat on my feet keeping me warm.0 -
Hi all
Well, well, Kittikins.... you enjoy your harem! You deserve to have fun.
A list of pleasures... not all of them are OS though.
1) A weekend of rugby. Went to England v Fiji yesterday with DH and one of our "rugby friends". Parked at a school near to the stadium and this worked out far cheaper than the three of us taking the train. Friend drove & so DH and I ensured she didn't spend a penny all day.
2) Meal plan for this week has been sorted. I love a good meal plan - makes me feel in control of our budget. A couple of things in the freezer for those nights when I'm a little more pushed for time - yet all on the meal planner!
3) Sorting out seeing my BFF over Christmas. She's the one who lives in Dubai but she'll be over here for a week or so at the end of December.
4) My mum is desperately missing Florence, where we visited with our Canadian relatives earlier this year. She wants to visit in 2017, so we've booked for a girly trip! Very exciting.
5) Found a great looking cottage in Wales for our holiday next year. I'm looking forward to next August already!
Take care everyone.:beer:Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) A lie in!
2) Off to town to get a basking light for the new terrapins. They are all well.
3) Got bigger son some bio oil for the severe burn he got in science a week or so back and some bandages for all the bits he scraped coming off his bike yesterday. :-/ He is OK today but has a stiff neck.
4) Had a bit of a tidy up.
5) Quorn pies and roast veg for tea.
6) Watched Casualty and I'm a Celebrity.
7) Went through our school pencil cases, replacing missing pencil sharpeners, rubbers etc and put some more pens in.
8) Went to see my dad (72 today!) I bought him cheese and crackers the other day but in TKMaxx this morning, chanced upon Hugh F-W "Fruit" book. Dad already has his other books including "Veg". It was reduced from £25 to £3! My sister and niece were there and my brother was talking to niece "Ooo, what a lovely teddy! Yes, you pass me the book" and so on. This was suddenly interrupted by a bellow by my brother as niece had bashed him on the back of the hand with a small cup!0 -
1) Finally arriving at my home station, trains all going slow and really crowded because of the weather and apparently a shortage of carriages, only an hour late.
2) Finally being picked up from my home station by poor He Who Knows who had been in static traffic for 45 minutes on the way to get me because some idiot had turned over a bin lorry on the motorway and when an accident happens on the motorway down here all the traffic spills on to the A roads and we get grid lock!!!
3) Tea, the woodstove , my armchair, my slippers.....sounds familiar but I LOVE IT!!!
4) Wonderful day yesterday Christmas lights turn on, lantern parade absolutely spot on, really well done and also we went out for lunch and to a Christmas Market and to the cinema to see Fantastic Beasts, fabulous film!!!
5) Finding a beautiful pair of modern glass candlesticks in a charity shop on Saturday, unpriced and when I asked they were £1.99 fantastic!!!0 -
Hello all, back from a lovely weekend in ICT
Pleasures
1 spending time with just OH. Makes me hopeful for when the birds finally leave the nest (in reality we were together a long time before them so it wasn't really in doubt
2 went to Barmouth, got off the train the stop before and walked across the bridge
3. Some lovely meals that we stayed in and cooked ourselves, with lovely wine
4. Nice walks by the sea
5. oH left yesterday and I stayed to go to the cinema and also watched fantastic beasts. Fantastic film..
6. Was hoping for a good nights sleep with no snoring. But I woke at 4I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
A few for the weekend
1. DH wanted to go out and have a bit of an early birthday celebration as the weather on my birthday is literally always terrible. We went over the bridge as he wanted to get me a pressie, sure enough pressie acquired and cake purchased.
2. I think it was also a ruse to buy some Christmas lights, we managed to reel it in a lot, we bought 2 blue and white led snowflake lights, and he also thinks that a lot of them will break this year, he may well be very right, we have never purchased new ones from when we got together many years ago now. My lights come from about 23 years ago now, and his even longer.
3. We enjoyed sparkly lights of places that have gone all out to impress.
4. A very loungy and lovely Sunday, a few things cleaned and washing loads done as usual.
5. Re loading the CV around again a few things in the background.
For today.
6. It’s my birthday and I still enjoy them,:rotfl::beer: a serious chocolate fudge cake and I think we may need to freeze some well maybe..:o
7. A lovely hand bag to replace my rather sorry looking rather ripped one that DH also bought me many years ago. In it was a box of malteasers, a fiver to keep in it for as long as it lasts, and a couple of metal pins with our ferret chocolate names on them for me to personalise my bag. I always like to make everything unique I place them inside the bag…:D
8. We went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I am not a Harry Potter fan so had a reservation, but what a pleasant surprise this is the first film I think I would pay to re see and will be waiting for it to come out to keep forever! It was completely engrossing with astounding graphics.
9. We’ve just collected take out from our fantastic local Chinese, it is always so reliably wonderful.:p:beer:
10. Lots of animal snuggles.0 -
Quick pleasures for today as I suddenly have a sore throat and am in bed :-(
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work went OK.
3) Made it back home through pretty much a 10 mile long flood! A couple of fire engines have gone past which is a sure sign they are towing people out of the big flood which always lodges in the same place.
4) Had a good tidy up including cleaning the water that had leaked through the fireplace onto the floor. It does leak there during torrential rain and we' had had nearly 24 hours of that.
5) Enjoyed watching I'm a Celebrity.
Got to be up at the crack of dawn to leave my car at the garage (16 miles away) before turning round to get to work on time... then got to do the journey in reverse (well, home first then the garage) before going on to an open evening at college for bigger son.0 -
Morning,
another day another train - one side of the country to the other. Going to dads
Meant to say welcome back Kittikins, nice to see you again
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Despite my stupidly early wake-up, i actually felt ok most of the day
2. OK train back to Birmingham, teased some random bloke who sat next to me, produced a twinkie and said "food for the gods" :rotfl: so i told him that they don't rotthen he ate it loudly with his mouth open.
3. Good meeting in Birmingham, it looks like i might be doing some freelance work 'on the side'
4. Home, after a foul day weather wise.
5. sausage, jacket spud and beans for tea - perfect comfort food on a foul day.
went to bed at 9.30 and slept till 5.45:T
Have a great day folksI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
 Hello Barbara
Yesterday's post vanished so I shall try again with a handful of pleasures from the last week or so...
1. My mum is out the other side of her second cateract op and seems to be recovering ok now. Very kind staff.
2. Wood delivery happened last week and I'm so glad it did given the change in the weather. Looking at the huge tarp-covered woodpile in our back yard is giving me a great deal of comfort!
3. DS1 has just received news that his grant application to pay for a week's research in Austria has been granted. He's terribly pleased that, in addition to travel and accommodation, it also crucially includes all his food! :rotfl:
4. Almost freebie (Mr T Deals) gardening mag arrived yesterday.
5. That autumnal pyjamas/socks/dressing gown/hottie/duvet/good book feeling!
Have a good Tuesday everyone.

Still dancing as fast as I can. Trying to find funeral stuff amidst the festive Little Black Dresses is a real chore, but then I cordially loathe clothes shopping anyway.
Still OS Pleasures recently
With middleson, have changed the car Tyres from everyday wear to specific for rain-&-snow, in the rain & snow, whilst husband & sons look on appalled. The Bovril that welcomed us in? Truly the cup that cheers! I have blanched myself, middleson is going for a thorough poaching.
The dilemma of motherhood - if I ask son "what was that noise?", have I the intestinal fortitude to deal with the answer?
Cooking a vat of mixed vegetables which will keep me safely eschewing for another couple of days. I've not gone veggie, just it's so much easier not to eat the wrong stuff when you're full of vegetables.
Ever late with the latest, we've just watched the Grand Tour. It looks like a lot of fun & I've heard the producer on the tent - somewhat blasphemous as you have to build a studio at each location, but it's effective & I like the campaign furniture touch.
Awww! Golden reindeer on Tesco bags for life... Now, parents' golden wedding further fuzzled with Christmas!
The kids bleating in the field as I prune. A job I left a little late in both year & day & thus am almost doing by touch. Ahem. Still, the Bramley is planted (at last) & the forecast is above zero for a few days so fingers crossed for it!
The howling rain at least means I don't need to drag a bucket of rain water up to ensure the Bramley gets watered in. Ironically it's warm enough that my frost concerns have lapsed for the moment, but the wind could lay the young tree flat..
Found my woolly hat! The newly knitted red & white one, knitted in anticipation of cold (& then put safe & not seen in moths) - it doesn't feel quite long enough - as if it can't cover both ears, but a bit of wearing & tugging should fix that!
Big hugs and/or gentle blessings to all who have need, delighted to see you kittikins & may all hwbs stay whole & not leaking for another season!0
