Stop finding just a few more bits of Spits stuff for car &. You know there is not even 'nuf room for you to insert self for drive to London town.
#
1. Robin closer than close for over an hour as I sorted.
2. That was before & went into loft for 1st time in a century, to hunt for some Dublin crimbo books. Don't see them right now, but much much much much much much else. Some has been struggled down ladder with. Trying for car fit next.
3. Love the 4G desert story. Vindication always feels good. As readers here do know, &'s been at sump end of this bleughh for over a decade. Told x's 'Mum' in Oz early a.m. - 'worse than Albania, Peru, Roumania', as just heard on r4 - and have linked story for them.....of course, call dropped mid-speak.

4. Hmm, bit peckish. Omelette to finish, methinks. Strength will be built for placerment of replacement naff birdsong clock. Arrived today in HUGE box: 90cmx70cmx20cm. Wondered what on earth it was!
5. Off to byes shortly. Safe place. Up at 0230h will do. Simple things. & decides. & does, or doesn't. Aleppo - relentless contrast.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cold now at normal levels so nearly better.
3) Not a bad day at work. Had a game of badminton in PE first thing.
4) One student I work with most of the time brought in a hand made present for me. :-)
5) Went with sons and brother to take a massive Christmas tree to the church in brother's visit.
6) Roast dinner.
7) In bed with 1hwb.0 -
Trying to persuade the universe to slow down a bit isn't working. Still, only 4 more working days til I step off the roundabout for the year.
OS Pleasures recently
Recognised practice nurse' language when he was startled at weight loss. [Irish] The joys of a very mixed office include learning handy words...
Christmas gift of bulbs in the green showing a promising bud. Lemon & olive "trees" flanking also looking alive & hopeful.
Leave sorted - as well as dental appointment. We had somehow overlooked this little protocol & I am reinstating it Before Sweetie Season so we can gnaw without the brushing fuss. A pleasure to be in the clear for a bit!
There is a visceral satisfaction in handing off responsibility for Christmas presents. Seven households are now "out of my reach" and the sheer restful sortedness that induces is glorious.
Not approving of food waste, my son was "tidying up" [his term!] some Boursin from various cheese platters & I sourced a box & tidied the fun looking stuff from the other platters. Mum was startled & charmed to find her cheese assortment had quadrupled - even when she realised that as her party fare she had actually paid for it all.
There is a pleasure sure in wearing a stunning dress, looking splendid, then handing it back to its owner with thanks & fervent blessings. (She still finds my driving in pop socks, thick socks & hill boots, then shedding boots & woolly socks to slip on the girlie slippers a tad bizzare, But It Works.)
Much pleasure in watching father & son bond over how to adjust the stainless steel watch strap. This is the proper spirit of Christmas - peering & cursing together.....
If it is true that cheese gives to nightmares then my youngest should be screaming into consciousness - but no. He chose to read Lovecraft whilst in Primary school & I reckon tickles the Shuggoth under the chin whilst asking tentacled things to hold still as he sketches the curves of the tentacles....
Lots of lights reflecting in the river - white & orange street lights, red & green & purple from restaurants, and then the Christmas lights from windows & trees - s'beautiful!
Son happily peering at instructions for his first phone - have I a teenager Who Reads The Manual?! His plans centre on using it as a camera on a school trip...
Son complaining trousers uncomfortable - turns out the problem was a packet of spare buttons!
Glorious Moon! The *ever*-with-us? cloud simply can't obscure it.
Wonderful online bantering with friends about the extreme sexism of lack of pockets in female attire.
Grinning reminiscently over various comments from the lads & reckoning teenagers are not for the faint of heart. Although frequently more direct than a cricket ball to the sternum (& with similar effect), at least your own offspring are familiar. Almost.
Great big hugs to all who need them, tender blessings likewise, always a happy sound to hear our sparrow and whomever invented tea deserves a medal.0 -

4) Daffodil noses popping up along both sides of the front hedgeline.
5) All the produce that we grow, today I got a string of red onions and a string of ordinary brown onions, a bag of leeks, a bag of parsnips and some lovely sized brussels sprouts to go with the sacks of home grown potatoes I have in the kitchen, super stuff.0 -
Beautiful thought re wedding dress vjsmum will look into it. I too have been admiring the moon
1) lovely morning being shown round the medical school and meeting students
2) huge lunch at buffet which ended with very nice Pakistani waiters, 2 holding maces, 1 a sword and 1 a slice of cake, sang a song to me, 'princess susie' ah yes I could get used to this life!
3) then a bit of shopping. I have bought a beautiful top and scarf which I will wear tomorrow for my workshop
4) after a much needed nap and having thought after lunch I never need eat again of course there was supper. Am getting the hang of eating with right hand only and no cutlery
5) reading the toothbrush principle. Yes, yet another declutter book. I will follow this one slavishly - I suspect any of the systems will work if one gets beyond reading the book :rotfl: This one points out the very good fact that we always know where our toothbrush is so why not everything else?MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning from Friday
Thursday was a good day
Friends were coming down from Sydney to see us...then their flight was delayed so I had time to squeeze in a chat with friend from home.
Friends arrived with gifts of what I thought was just chocolate ...later inspection revealed 3 bags of Percy's....an unexpected joy!
Catch up over a cup of tea and then we walked to our new local cafe and had a very nice lunch and even better it went on expenses! DD1 and I shared a burger and she shared DD2's chips.
Back for a chat and then they had to fly home. We went to see GP about some forms we needed filled in. He is lovely and kind and said if it's just for forms or prescriptions then OH doesn't need to come ( unless he wants to) he is happy to speak / see me about things. And he didn't charge us which was also kind.
Received a parcel in the post from a friend back home which was unexpected and lovely.
Home and as still full from lunch didn't do dinner other than defrost a curry that friends had made and was in freezer for son when he got in from work.
Had an early night and slept well.0 -
What a lovely charity, VJsmum. I wish I had something to donate (my wedding dress was hired, sister's was dark blue).
FrugalinShrops - I find it pleasing that The Unthanks are actually the Misses Unthanks! Just wondering idly (if this is normally your sort of music) if you caught mum and dad of Frith providing the music for clog dancers in Ludlow last weekend!
Ampersand - birdsong clock still going at my sister's, though music turned off long since.
News (not a pleasure) is that brother of Frith was not employed to guard the holly market this year. Neither was the other man (whose name escapes me). 700 holly wreaths stolen a few days back, 4 by 4 tracks across the fields :-/
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cold 90% gone!
3) OK day at work including some tidying of drawers, a free bit of stollen and a meeting where I asked if we could have ipads to take round with us. This was met with some enthusiasm - just as it has been met as a jolly good idea the other 15 times I've raised it over the past nearly 2 years. "Oh yes, we HAVE got those Ipads. They're out of date". Well, yes, they're out of date NOW!
4) Quite a few Christmas cards waiting for me when I got home.
5) Smaller son broke up from school at lunchtime so my brother popped round to play football with him and Xbox.
6) Bigger son and I popped out for hen food. 4 eggs over the last 2 days, not bad considering we thought they'd stop laying over the winter.
7) Watched The Martian film.
8) Have washed all uniform (including blazers), PE kits, all my work stuff - just the 2 school bags to do by themselves.
9) Last day for me and bigger son tomorrow!
10) Smaller son has a ticket to watch the rugby on New Years Day.0
