Ooh, have serious holiday envy DD enjoy :)
    Pleasures for yesterday,

Out early into Ely, had breakfast at Samovar place ( & ? ) very tasty, loved the extensive tea menu even though we had coffee, will be back if only to sample their Turkish Delight cake, looked yummy.

Rain, we've had such little over the last few weeks so garden lapped it up.

Time with DM at hospital, informative meeting with Oncologist but difficult listening. All systems go now to get her home.

Enjoyed a glass of Pinot Noir, glad to hear so good for the little grey cells Mila

Colder temperatures meant that bed was warm and cosy, slept better for it, hope you did too MrsLW
  • Kitchen disaster? More later.

Mila. Rule of BoP regarding rain. Don't buy house at bottom of hill. Nor at top. But just up enough so waters run off!

5 Absolute disaster last eve regarding tossing off in the kitchen. Pancake batter was too loose. Pan immediately long shotted into sink. Batter made better. Phew. Pancakes tossed correctly. Added fruits and cocoa. Rubbed Tum.

4 Watched Glawster yesterday. Wobbleades were consumed and raffles was given a treat. Who knows why we give him treats! And at last, Glawster won! Game On!

3 Breakfast was the usual Saturday fest of snorkers, pan mushrooms, grilled toms, toms, fried tatties, poached egg on hot buttered marmite toast. Tea was consumed as well as fresh concentrate of orange and eau de faucet. Tum was rubbed.

2 Night is film night with the usual sticky chicken, recipe available on request. It has been handed down through generations of BoP.

There will be another one along in a minute!
  • Sadly not LAINEY I woke up at 2ish with a head like a squirrel in a wheel and didn't get off again until gone 5.30 so I'm hoping for better tonight as it really has cooled down here to the point where long sleeves are needed and I've just made a hefty soup for lunch (which was very nice too!).

    1) DD1 had to re-audition for the Choral Society (once every three years is the norm) and had the first one at 9.30 this morning, not ideal timing for a voice warm up but she's OK and has another three years in the choir which means three more years of Ma going to those wonderful concerts!!!

    2) Reduced Eccles Cakes in the Co Op this morning, home cooked in store and down to 39p!

    3) Hot coffee, specially when it's hard to stay awake.

    4) YS rump steaks for supper tonight.

    5) Decided to take our unwanteds to the last boot fair of the year tomorrow morning and then perhaps I'll be able to find the floor in the store room once more.
  • Saturday pleasures

    1. lie in
    2. started stripping paint from the pine bedside chest I picked up free on gum tree. Thankfully the awful slapped on pale green paint is peeling off easily with very little effort
    3. got two loads washing dry outside
    4. walk round local pond, very chilly... was just thinking it must be autumn then the sun and blue sky reappeared late afternoon - my windows are still open this evening
    5. more sorting and tidying. My room is now cleared and wardrobe/chest drawers decluttered. DS's room is much better after a wipe round with a cloth... DfV he hasn't noticed his wardrobe decluttered yet !!

  • By eck mrslw I haven't had an Eccles cake for a while
    1) the feel of being bounced around in the vaperetti
    2) the smell of the sea at lido (and yes I did have a paddle!)
    3) the taste of my first gelato - Venetian special so still not quite sure what the flavour was but yummy
    4) the sights from the Scala Contorini del bovolo (which I learnt is Italian for snail)
    5) the sound of the music at la fenice. La traviatta, sat in a box, very posh. Lovely birthday present from my mum :-)

A rather nice day for me today:

    1) A splendid night's sleep! Over 8 hours in a row and woke up feeling awake.

    2) Lots of texts and messages from sons (at their father's this weekend).

    3) Off to Hereford for charity shops (knitted jumper for bigger son), lunch in favourite caf! and sit in the cathedral. Then Ludlow to redeem a White Stuff voucher (posh t shirt for work) and a look around. Now I've got so much energy, I did some geocaching then WALKED UP THE BIG HILL!!

    4) I was so pleased at my sudden ability to walk uphill again that I parked on the top of the Clee Hill and found 3 geocaches up there!

    5) Fish and chips from the van for tea.

    6) My brother came round.

    7) Just got off the phone to my school friend.
  • Squirrel head tonight mrslw. Mine comes and goes.

    * Found the floor of a storage closet after a short but productive clean out. It had been missing. (Hope you find your's Lynn)

    * A lovely day of baking a long involved cake. My guys are super appreciative! DH was not sure he wanted to cut it because it was so pretty. >>>blushes

    * Made plans with DS2 for help with continued storage closet cleaning. Appreciate his willingness!

    * The arroyos are running. Do not try to cross in your car BoP,

    * Leftovers are a marvelous thing.

    * Tell me a story Mila...Sequoia on the phone.

    * DD1 reported Wiggle or Wobble laid first egg. Eggscellent news!!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Good day.

    1. Coffee with a friend. Long chat and we both offloaded a couple of problems which help.

    2. Cut the grass as it didn't rain. It does make a huge difference to how tidy the garden looks.

    3. Potted up some geranium cuttings from mother in law.

    4. Managed to have tea from freezer when DH really wanted a takeaway. Tastier and cheaper.

    5. Drink with neighbours in their summer house. Good laugh.

Good evening, it's been a drizzly and cool day here after a beautiful Saturday.

Work was work. One of my favourite colleagues did her last shift. She has a proper Monday-Friday job and her Saturday was for fun but it's not fun any more so she's off . I bought her a beautiful bunch of freesias ...bought me one too :)

OH popped in to see me :)

Bought a sad little lavender plant for a whole 85 cents . 90% off...I intend to nurse it back to health.

Up early this morning and baked. Made brownies, banana bread and a carrot cake. Just me and my dog were up and about.

    Nice dog walk.

Went to go to cinema to see Bridget Jones but that screening was full so we bought tickets ( with a gift card) for later tonight.

Got a pair of wellies , lovely red , flowery ones . Just mid calf ones so I can get out and about in front garden and dig. They were half price.

    Do have a good Sunday

Please may I ask for your blessing and love to my beloved Uncle as he gently leaves us, leaves this world?

I was in the mddle of dialling Oz[24/7 involved atm with x's situ/remand] when em pinged on phone from enzed cousin. Please also think of x and pray for a perceptive, decent outcome and homeward flight asap.

I ask these things because I am inept in faith and belief, hopeless, but am amazed to be often amid people who manifestly have it in spades - and this Thread is one such place.

Shortly, I will take myself to another.

Yes to your lavender mhags, for all that is Love, devotion and purity. My little recent rescued rose, now bushing in a pot, sends its secret on with this.
