5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Couple of days off work this week :j
1 - Went into town today to spend some gift vouchers that had been lurking in the drawer - took the train rather than the car (very old style for me) and loved the freedom
2 - Lovely walk to the train station - it was dry and rather cool with the leaves on the trees beginning to curl and go brown. Can't remember when I've so enjoyed a moment like that for a long time
3 - After dad paid off my CC earlier this month (other debts are available :rotfl:) went online to pay off the interest added since the payment. A total of £1.11 paid and the credit card is no more.
4 - Watched GBBO on catch up
5 - Chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner. Will it be curry, will it be Cajun or will it be jerk? Who knows. It will be an enjoyable cooking day tomorrow
Happy days to allWyrd bid ful aread0 -
1) A trip to Chichester for a visit to Lakeland Plastics for a couple of things I needed, lovely run and a beautiful city.
2) Really good folk singer busking in one of the streets singing Ralph McTells 'Streets of London' in the sunshine making everyone smile.
3) Nice walk with Cookie and collecting some drop acorns still in their little cases to go in my bowl of Autumn Things in the hearth. No conkers today but there will be soon.
4) He Who Knows is beginning to put up the frame for our new Fruit Cage in the garden, we'll be getting some gooseberry bushes to go in there soon and I'm going to move the rosemary bushes in there too.
5) The cooler weather to look forward to (according to the weather forecast this morning) after a weather front passes on Saturday, it's been warm and very dry for long enough now and I'm looking forward to Autumn mists, dampness and the smell of chrysanthemums, bonfires and fallen leaves.0 -

1. It's pay day so I've had the pleasure of transferring this to that to the other. Set up my budget book for the month etc. I'm in OCD love with that kind of thing.
2. Stock taking and menu planning followed by frugal new month shopping list.
3. Slow but reasonable progress of my summer to autumn / winter outfit change over. My dressing room is looking less like a bomb site and more organised.
4. Instead of putting the sofa loose covers into the launderette I washed them myself - major money saving exercise. The washing machine is still alive too :rotfl:
5. The trees are turning colour - amazing shades. Mostly sycamores here. Boy they've got big this year. Loads of squirrels on the go too.0 -

Lord Ampersand, that all sounds very stressful?
Cripes Frith, bit of a shock m'dear, sending non-hugs x
:j on the results BOP but not so the dodgy picture :rotfl:
Pleasures for today,
Woke up to a misty, cool morning, made the most of it with a early morning walk with the girlies.
Mist soon burnt off and another scorcher, last of the summer?
Drove into Uni city for hair cut and colour, blissful couple of hours of peace, quiet and glossy magazines that would never buy myself, much needed me time.
Visit to hospital to see DM, found a spare wheelchair and took her for a walk in the sunshine, DB arrived and it was good to all be together.
We have a little toad living behind the dustbin, cute little thing but keeps making me jump everytime I put the rubbish out.0 -
An interesting day.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Back to Dr's. Pulse rate still 120 BPM which suggests it has been that high for a long time... ECG clear. Blood tests done. Appointment next Wednesday.
3) Day off work to sort out that little lot. Put plants in the new raised bed and am very pleased with it. Compliments from sons and downhill neighbour!
4) Went to see the hens.
5) Went to play table tennis at mum and dad's. Now dad and I can discuss the tablets we are taking :-/ Apparently his 20+ years of heart probs started exactly the same, with a ridiculous heart rate but normal blood pressure etc. He only realised when a cut he had on his leg would not heal. Just been reading that an ineffective heart beat doesn't send the oxygen round properly (hence why I can't walk upstairs) but might also explain the brown rings round my eyes that I had put down to age...
6) Beta blocker worked. That was exciting! I can't remember the last time I couldn't hear my blood swishing past my ears!
7) Stir fry made by the butcher in the village for my tea.
8) Enjoyed watching the Last Leg.
9) Bigger son did some homework.0 -
* I love my freezer where I can store batch cooked meals and bring them out when I don't want to cook!
This happened today. Tomorrow I need to make a cake (Apple bundt with a cream cheese filling and caramel icing topped with chopped walnuts) for the guys but dinner will be from the freezer again.
* I love my bed, especially when the sheets have just been changed like today.
* Sequoia met Smokey the Bear at the New Mexico State fair. Of course he was a human dressed up like a huge bear as our Smokey has been gone a while now.

* Online shopping. I'm so lazy!
* Having the time to be lazy!!!! After raising six kids and having a husband who coached two high school sports it is just wonderful. Every child was in either a sport/sports, choir, cheerleading, clubs, church youth groups, math Olympics, dance....I could go on. I was a taxi service. One year I had to take children to 5 different schools. Sheesh! I have been to so many events, games, practices, banquets, performances ...... I could go on....(got tired just typing about it)
* One more payment on the car!!! Counting down!!! Then we will add that payment to DH's pickup payment and actually pay it off early. :j
p.s. Glad I live where I do as I don't want to chance being electrocuted. :eek:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

A slightly more industrious day due in part to a dry day.
Beds stripped. Lots of washing hung outside . Mostly dry. Ironing done...just bed to remake.
Sorted out my pots at back door area. Bit of weeding done. Lettuce seeds planted, 2 more tomato plants planted. Sunflower seeds planted. Proteus planted up. Dianthus planted. Much sweeping up done and much chasing a dog round garden...he does like a plant pot to chew on.
Pumpkin quiche for lunch.
Made a rather tasty macaroni for tea. Cheese scones and a chocolate and Orange sponge.for the sugary people.
Kind hearted but decidedly odd next door neighbour had brought round lemons ( luckily when we were out...is that bad?) and had left them at the front door.
Got my water bill...had a $100 government rebate. The last one was double what it usually is as we had the leaky loo so much happier with this one.
Back to work tomorrow ( little sigh ..in a slightly better frame of mind about it...at the moment!) phone call from jeweller to say my new from old ring is ready so will pick that up whilst at work. Hopefully I can nip out for 5 minutes.
Frith hopefully they find out exactly what going on.
& I hope you're okay? Do let us know if you can.
Lainey that was lovely that your mum got out in fresh air yesterday. I'm sure she appreciated it.
Have a good one..catch up sometime over the weekend.0 -
A dry day here with some sun but much cooler than yesterday so : -
1 - Cut a rather large privet hedge in the garden at the front. The second last cut of the season methinks.
2 - Washing done and out; ironing for later and fresh bed sheets on
3 - A bit of batch cooking later this afternoon
4 - Meter reading done and updated online - good news that my DD will reduce to £56 a month from £66 and I still have over £100 in credit which I will leave to ease me into the colder months :j
5 - Later on will be removing wax from a carpet using brown paper and an iron
Not too bad a day. Onward and upwards everybody.Wyrd bid ful aread0
